Devil’s Music

Chapter 396: The Song of the Wind (1)

The practice room rumored to be underground surpassed Yunjeong and Jinyeon's expectations with its impressive facilities.

YDN, despite being a large agency in Korea, required numerous practice rooms due to the many girl groups that needed to practice, leading to a shortage of space.

Typically, girl group practice rooms had low ceilings and felt cramped.

However, Fantagio, lacking musicians in dance music, allowed Yunjeong and Jinyeon to use the space as if they had rented it exclusively.

The underground practice room, hard to believe with its high ceilings and interiors warmly decorated with wood, was mirrored on three sides, allowing them to see the dance moves they were practicing no matter where they looked.

The relaxation area had a large refrigerator, a cafeteria, and sofas, decorated beautifully like a café, which delighted the two girls.

The girls, squealing with excitement, ran around exploring the practice room before flopping onto the sofa, laughing brightly.

"Oppa! The facilities are really great, I heard YDN is better than other companies, but this is amazing, hehe."

Geon, smiling back at Jinyeon's cheerful expression, looked around the practice room and said,

"You guys are lucky. I'm really bad at dancing."

Yunjeong, surprised that Geon had something he couldn't do, said with curious eyes,

"Oppa, you can't dance? With your rhythm, how can you not dance?"

Geon scratched the back of his head, smiling awkwardly.

"Yeah, I actually tried to learn, but my body just doesn't follow along."

Jinyeon grabbed Geon's hand, pulling him up,

"We'll teach you, come on, get up. I've been a trainee for five years, you know. If you train like I was taught by some of the best choreographers in Korea, you can do it too. Now, try following me."

Jinyeon stood in front of the mirror and showed him a simple step, known as the "rabbit dance," repeating it several times. Watching Geon awkwardly trying to mimic her, she burst into laughter and fell to the floor.

"Kahaha, what is that!!"

Geon, moving stiffly like a robot, scratched his head.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

"No... I think I just don't have the talent for this. Haha."

Yunjeong also rolled on the sofa, laughing, and then got up to ask,

"So when do we start practicing? I want to try it soon."

Geon, hand on his hip, shook his head,

"It's hard to practice right now. The music's backbone is there, but it still needs more work."

Jinyeon, sitting on the floor laughing so hard her stomach hurt, asked,

"Ah, my stomach hurts. Hehe, what research? Ah, it must be hard to make club dance music if you can't dance, huh?"

"Yes, I've been studying Korean music to find the key points, but I can't figure it out."

Yunjeong pursed her lips, deep in thought. Wanting to repay Geon, who had shown them immense kindness, she suddenly asked,

"By the way, Oppa, have you ever been to a club?"

Geon rolled his eyes and said,

"Well... I go to B.B. King's club often."

Jinyeon covered her mouth and laughed,

"Not that one, Oppa. I mean a real dance club, not a blues club where you just watch performances."

"Um... no."

"What?! How can you make club dance music if you've never been to a club!"

"Do I, do I need to go?"

"Of course, Oppa!"

"Then... maybe I should go?"

"Hehe! Let's go tonight! It's a bit early now, so how about we go around 9 o'clock?"

"Uh... okay."

"I can't believe I'm going to a club with Kay Oppa!! Hehe, this isn't a dream, right, Yunjeong?"

Yunjeong clapped her hands with an excited expression,

"Yes! I can't believe it either. You're definitely going tonight, right, Oppa?"

"Uh... okay. Let's go. But I think I should talk to Director Lin about it."

As new signees to Fantagio, Yunjeong and Jinyeon suddenly darkened their expressions, still unable to shake off their Korean mindset.

"Sigh... that's probably the case. He wouldn't allow it."

"We got too excited, huh."

Geon cocked his head, puzzled,

"What are you talking about?"

Jinyeon puffed her cheeks,

"Director wouldn't allow us to go to a club. If we're seen there and photographed, it would be bad for our image."

"Huh? Why would the image be bad?"

"Oh, this brother. Look, if a man goes to a club and dances while drinking,

people think he's either a bad boy or just having fun on purpose. But if a woman does it, people will think her usual behavior is promiscuous. Just recently, an idol in Korea was caught by paparazzi at a club and had to reflect for a long time." R

Geon shrugged,

"I don't get it. Men can do it, but women can't? Where's the sense in that? Whether it's smoking or drinking, if it's bad for your health, then okay. But this isn't Korea, kids. No one cares about that here, so don't worry. The director won't say anything."

"That's right."

Startled by the sudden voice of Lin, the two girls saw him and an Asian woman coming in. Lin smiled at Geon and said,

"Going to a club? I'll just assign a few bodyguards then."

"Yes, thank you, Director. But who is the lady behind you?"

The Asian woman, fascinated by Geon standing in front of her, covered her mouth with her hand. Lin glanced at her, then nodded towards Yunjeong and Jinyeon, saying,

"Since the music isn't ready for practice, let's get things moving for your debut."

"What needs to be done?"

"It's English training. Starting today, Yunjeong and Jinyeon will study conversational English for 10 hours a day. We need to get you to a communicative level before your debut in November."

Looking as if they had been struck by lightning, the two showed faces of utter despair. Geon chuckled and patted their shoulders as if to comfort them,

"Alright, study hard before we go to the club."

They sent pleading looks but couldn't voice their objections in front of Lin, their shoulders slumping in defeat.

As they left the practice room with Lin, the girls continued to send pleading looks towards Geon, who just laughed and ignored them as he returned to his floor. Kiska had written the lyrics to "The Song of the Wind," and Geon stared at them intently.

Lucy approached, rubbing against him affectionately. Geon played with her warmly as he muttered,

"Hmm... I still can't figure out the key point. Will going to the club help me realize it? Well, it's better than not trying."

Sitting at the control box, he turned on the Cubase program and got absorbed in his music work, unaware of time passing.

In the middle of his work, he paused to listen to a few CDs by Korean musicians, but otherwise, his eyes never left the monitor until he heard the automatic door open and looked up to see the two girls, dark circles under their eyes, shoulders slumped as they entered.

"Haha, how was studying?"

Without a word, Jinyeon waved her hands dismissively and flopped onto the sofa.

"Ah... I really hate studying."

Yunjeong, too, seemed exhausted as she rubbed her eyes and yawned,

"Yeah, but at least the teacher seems competent. It's hard but fun to learn."

Geon joined them on the sofa,

"I heard from Director Lin earlier; the teacher is a current Harvard student, majoring in humanities. He's a proper teacher, so I think they're paying a hefty fee for him. Make sure to work hard."

Jinyeon and Yunjeong, too tired to respond, just sprawled on the sofa. Geon chuckled and grabbed a drink from the fridge, handing it to them,

"Drink up, and then we're off to the club."

At the mention of the club, life returned to the girls' zombie-like eyes.

They gulped down the drinks and slammed the bottles on the table with a thud,

"That's right! When it's time to work, we work, and when it's time to relax, we relax! Let's burn the night away, Yunjeong!"

"Okay! Oppa, be prepared to really party tonight!"

"Haha, got it. Make sure to cover your faces with hats and masks. Shall we go?"

"Yes!!! Yay!!!"

The three headed to the Fantagio parking lot and got into a waiting car, followed by another vehicle with security personnel.

It seemed Lin had pre-arranged a decent club because the car started moving without any mention of the destination and drove for about twenty minutes.

As they approached, thumping bass music could be heard from the club entrance, where about fifty people were lined up.

As Geon's car arrived, people focused their attention, and the three, their faces covered with hats and masks, stepped out, causing people to crane their necks in curiosity.

"Is that a celebrity?"

"Must be. The only reason to cover up coming to a club is that."

"I wish I could take their picture. Why are they so covered up?"

Amid the murmurs of the crowd, the three watched as a security guard who had gotten out of the car behind spoke to a club employee

.

The employee, apparently briefed beforehand, brightened up after hearing the security guard and ran over,

"Thank you so much for coming to our club, Kay. We've prepared the VIP room for you."

"Ah, thank you."

"Please, this way."

The three entered without waiting in line, looking like celebrities to the other patrons who didn't seem to mind.

Downstairs, in the dimly lit and smoky club, people danced to the music, unaware of who the newcomers were, and cheerfully offered high-fives.

Geon smiled and returned the high-fives, and the people seemed pleased to interact with him.

Once in the VIP room, drinks and snacks were quickly served, and a monitor in the room showed the scene in the main hall. Sitting on the sofa and watching the monitor, the two girls said to Geon,

"Oppa! Let's go out and have fun!"

Geon waved his hands,

"No, I'm just going to observe people here for a bit. I'm not here to party."

"Aw!! Then we'll have fun by ourselves, watch us on the monitor!"

"Haha, alright. Have fun."

As the girls left, Geon watched the monitor, listening to the loud club music, and smiled as he saw the two girls dancing energetically.

For a moment, he watched people dancing to the music, then noticed something odd.

"Huh? Why are people stopping their dance in the middle?"

On the monitor, people were dancing energetically but suddenly stopped and just swayed to the rhythm.
