My (Monster?) Hero Life

Chapter 128: The Rebellion begins

Chapter 128: The Rebellion begins

"So, how are things going on your end?" A sweet, womanly voice rang pleasantly throughout the room.

"Lyreve? What are you doing here? What new trouble are you planning?" The goddess Faylia asked with surprise.

"I told you before to call me Eve! We're friends, right!" Eve pouted as she flicked her wavy green hair over her slender shoulders.

Faylia rolled her eyes in response. This was one of the downsides to Eve in her mind. She could be childish at times. 'It's rare for her to visit. I wonder what this is about.' Her eyebrows began to crease as she scrutinised her guest.

Eve chuckled to see this. The creases in Faylia's brow detracted from her beauty. She had long, silky silver hair that reached her waist and wore a rather revealing short, red dress. It stuck to her body like a second skin. 'Let's hope she agrees.' She thought while she tried to determine her current state of mind.

"Anyway, I'm not here for much. It's just that some help from my world has recently arrived in yours. They should be able to help with your problem.

"Finally! I thought you'd never take responsibility for allowing those Vampires of yours to invade my world! Because of them, the heroes that have been sent over keep getting pushed back." Faylia threw her arms up while being overjoyed. She had been struggling to get rid of this obstacle for centuries.

Eve smirked at Faylia's assumption. The whole reason she had told Sonja to cross over to that world was to prevent the heroes from taking it over in the first place. She could not bring herself to watch as her friend's world was completely overrun.

"Oh, I think you've misunderstood something." Eve flashed a cunning smile at her oldest and closest friend. "They're not there to help the heroes."

Faylia almost fainted when she heard this bombshell being dropped. 'Not there to help the heroes? Don't tell me? Another of her races has invaded my world? Is she trying to get me killed!' She could only stare at Eve in exasperation. Her red eyes showed a hint of desperation in them.

"They are there to help you. Though, not in the way you imagine." Eve said calmly, caving in to the hopeless look upon her friend's face. "Don't you want to be free again?"

'Free again?' Faylia was confused as to what she had meant. 'How can we ever be free? As long as Haestus has his heroes and the other conquered gods...' Suddenly a panicked look spread across her face. 'Oh no, Eve your not planning to do that are you?'

Eve could see from the change in her friend's face that she had come to the conclusion of what she was after. 'Now it's just a question of whether she will stand with me or not.' Eve sighed in relief. The hard part was revealing this plan of hers to anyone else. If they were too afraid of Haestus, they would immediately warn him.

"Faylia... I want to be free. I want to rule my world again. I can't stand watching it crumble beneath the feet of those humans." Eve silently sobbed, although this was all an act. She had to play the pity card to get friend onboard with the idea. "All those memories that I built with my friends when we created that world. They're being destroyed! Don't you feel the same?"

Faylia could only look at her friend with a worried expression. How could she not feel the same way. Many of the races on her own world had brought her countless joy every day until the onslaught of Haestus's heroes wiped them out. 'She's right. What point will there be in surviving this if I have nothing left at the end of it all? An empty world, devoid of life? My friends who resisted have already been slaughtered. What's left for me to lose? I can still save what little I have left.'

Eve could see the fight for supremacy going on in her friend's mind between her thoughts. A small nudge should be all she needs to bring this home. 'I've waited so long for this. It has to be now.' She thought while biting her lip.

"We just have to get 'Him' on our side. If we do, then the rest should not pose a problem." Eve said hopefully while trying to sound like she needed protecting. This was the best way to win Faylia over. She might not look like it, but she was a god of war. Her aid in this was crucial for it to succeed. Faylia liked to act as though she were an older sister that had to protect the weak after all.

Faylia fixed Eve's feeble looking form with her red eyes. 'She won't survive this without me. If she goes to someone else alone, they might alert Haestus. I won't let him kill another friend of mine! Faylia had made up her mind. If this were going to happen, she would not allow Eve to face it on her own.

"Eve... I will help. However, your 'help' as you call it has to liberate my world first. I can't show any signs of defiance just yet. I'm already being observed as it is. You know that, don't you?" Faylia said with a slightly sad voice. She would like nothing more than to rush into the battle right now. "Who else do you plan to bring over to this little rebellion of yours?"

"There's a few people I have in mind, but I'd like your opinion on them. We only have one chance to get this right." Eve said while she shivered and wiped the fake tears away. "Is there anyone that you would suggest?"

"It will take a considerable amount of time to reach 'his' world so we should gain as many allies as we can while keeping Haestus ignorant of our actions. So I have just the right God in mind to help us with that!" Faylia declared with confidence. Her eyes shone with fighting spirit.
