Chapter 412 Islands In The Stream
[SICARIO]
Everything had happened so fast and as much as Elodie was certain that things would be okay. She wasn't sure how long it would take for that to happen. There wasn't much for her and her people at the moment and they didn't understand squat about the sailors.
Sure, they looked harmless and were apparently genuine but that didn't explain why the fuck their ship blew up inside Sicario. So many blank spaces were staring at them and Elodie had to act fast to make sure there wasn't extensive damage to Sicario.
Of course, there are protective measures for the entire Sicario population so no one would ever get hurt, but it didn't make it any better this time.
It was almost like this was a deliberate attack and she had to figure out a way around this or Sicario would be losing again. This was the kind of shit that no one ever looked forward to, and that left Elodie wondering what her next step would be.
"Did you send my message?" Elodie asked the new messenger, Fiko, who was still confused as hell from the shit that had happened in Sicario. It wasn't daily that this kind of thing happened and they were all pretty new to the job still.
"Yes, alpha. He is here already," Fiko said, making the alpha sigh.
They had been trying to get past the chaos in the realm but then each time it felt like they were always being strung around like a pack of wild animals that needed to be put down.
It was unfair to think of how things had gotten so hard for the lot of them but then it wasn't like there was anything they could do without a proper meeting to figure out what had happened and why.
The former elder, Asmodeus, who could have been useful to the alpha at the moment, had long been murdered by Elodie. According to her, he deserved it and every karma that came his way.
That was because he had dared to spread false information about Hawi to the wolves of Sicario, despite them knowing what the truth was, so there was no one to advise Elodie on how to run the pack.
Elodie Kane didn't regret it though, because she hated people who tarnished Hawi's name for no apparent reason, when all her sister had ever done was make sure Sicario was safe from them all.
Her sister had sacrificed her youth for this pack and hell would be damned first before alpha Elodie let anyone make fun of her sister's selflessness and try to tarnish her name.
Anyone with sense and who had been in Sicario the entire time before the house of Sicario fell, knew what Sicario had meant to Awuor Sicario and they knew that the wild girl would never put her people in harm's way.
She needed to be respected for that and if Elodie had to kill everyone in the entire pack to make sure that happened then she didn't mind it.
After all, she had no use for people who tried to harm the only sister she had and the only person who had kept her sane through and through. Elodie never came to play when it came to protecting Hawi and by now, everyone in Sicario knew that and understood it well like a rule.
"Alright, send him this way," Elodie said to Fiko in the mind link as she hated the wreckage of the ship. She was still trying to understand what the hell was going on with her, but then even with all that she knew she had sailors to keep safe too.
Strangely enough, Elodie hoped that Theo's interest in Rio would help the sailors stay calm and trust the Sicario wolves, even though that was still not a certainty given how explosive Rio was.
Alpha Elodie had suspected there was a bond between Theo and Rio from the moment the wild sailor got off the ship.
There was something about the two of them, something that Elodie hoped would bloom into love and a better life, because Elodie knew that Theo had sacrificed a lot for Sicario too. Granted, he was a general, but then didn't generals deserve to be loved too?Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"Hey kid," Hudhayfah greeted when he got to where Elodie was. He could see the wreckage and it wasn't pleasing at all, though he understood why Elodie had called for him. They needed to think this over, together.
"I didn't think you'd come that fast," Elodie said as she hugged Hudhayfah whose arms were wide open for her. Hudhayfah felt like home, the remainder of what their home looked like long before the madness they were scattered to go and embrace.
"After the small get-together I knew the time would come so soon when we would achieve to do everything from sicario," Hudhayfah said when they pulled back and Elodie let out a defeated sigh.
Things were getting more and more complicated for them but none more than the fact that there was a chance they didn't know shit about what they were doing. Without Hawi and Malika, everything felt grey, but maybe they could figure it out with Hudhayfah.
"The sailors mentioned Mbali was missing… Do you think that could have anything to do with the explosion?" Elodie asked, her eyes never leaving the blown-up ship.
She could see the Sicario forensics team trying to gather whatever they could, but then Elodie had a feeling that they wouldn't dine much.
Whoever had done this had to have estimated the amount of mange that could be done to Sicario with the ship and they had to have neon that it wouldn't do much if Sicario was Hawi's Sicario.
Everyone in here was well-armed, well-trained, alert, even the kids that played around were well-trained on the security protocols. They had to have known that this wasn't the Sicario Jer had led and left them with, so this right here was a very daring move.
"Maybe… but whoever did this, wanted us to know that they could get into Sicario if they wanted to. So much is going around the realm right now, and with hair out there we have to make sure things are on track.
"As for Mbali missing, I think that might be true, because fifty thousand protectors were summoned to the east coast so suddenly, maybe because something happened, or Malika felt giddy and wanted that many protectors.
"But whatever is happening out there, has to have something to do with this. Come, let's have a seat while the forensics team figure out what the fuck is going on in the ship and if there's anything worth knowing so they can report to us," Hudhayfah said and Elodie nodded in understanding.
They were literally at war so this shouldn't have been surprising, but why the fuck did it raise more questions than the answers they could ever possibly get from anyone, especially at this point in time?
"I really hope they are okay. I hope they find Mbali soon because this war is starting to feel like a long dirty game that needs better strategies," Elodie said as she followed Hudhayfah to the nearest beck in the distance.
They had a lot on their hands, but at least they had each other at the moment, right?
"They will be fine either way. Hawi won't leave without Mbali, at least that much we know."
