Chapter 924 - 922: No Matter What, Apologizing First Is Definitely Not Wrong
Chapter 924: Chapter 922: No Matter What, Apologizing First Is Definitely Not Wrong
As the conversation reached this point, more and more people kept arriving outside, and only then did some begin to inquire why they hadn’t seen the two main characters yet.
“Why haven’t Master Xi and Miss Wen come out yet? Did they return too late last night? Have we disturbed Master Xi’s rest by coming here?”
Some people were already feeling that their arrival might have been inappropriate. After all, the hosts had just come back from abroad and hadn’t had proper rest before their guests began to arrive and create a commotion, which was quite impolite.
“No, Master Xi sent a message yesterday asking me to invite you over. Master Xi said that things were quite hectic at the banquet the other day, and he didn’t get the chance to entertain you properly, so he asked you all to come over and gather together.”
Gu Yanzhe watched a few people feeling somewhat embarrassed and spoke up to explain, not wanting them to feel pressured.
A few people were sitting in the living room feeling a bit bored, so they turned to Mu Dong, “Mu Dong, does Master Xi’s house have any form of entertainment? We might as well amuse ourselves for a bit, instead of just waiting around like this…”
“Yes, come with me to the game room. There’s more to do there than in the living room; there are mahjong tables, billiards, and arcade machines.”
Hearing their suggestion, he stood up and led them toward Master Xi’s game room, and even Yuan Junye, who wasn’t particularly interested in these things, stood up and followed out of curiosity.
Most of these people were visiting Mu Chengxi’s section of the Mu family’s old mansion for the first time and were filled with curiosity about his courtyard. They walked and stopped along the way, taking in the sights of Mu Chengxi’s courtyard.
After Wen Xin had lain in bed and caught her breath, she slowly lifted her head to look at Mu Chengxi, who was getting dressed. She lazily rolled over and spoke in a languid voice.
“You go ahead, I’ll lie down a bit longer before going out. They seem quiet now; they probably left already, right?”
After fastening the buttons of his shirt, Mu Chengxi walked over to the bed, leaned down to gently kiss Wen Xin’s exposed shoulder, and then pulled the blanket over her.
“You sleep a little longer, I’ll come up and call you for lunch.”
After saying this, Mu Chengxi crouched beside the bed, watching Wen Xin for a while before leaving the room with an affectionate smile, receiving no reply from her.
Once Mu Chengxi had left the room, Wen Xin turned over in bed to find her phone that had been vibrating continuously.
After finding her phone, she turned it on and saw an unfamiliar number. Looking at the area code, Wen Xin unconsciously frowned.
Wen Xin dialed back, knowing that anyone calling from that area must be an acquaintance.
The call was answered after two rings, and Tan Xingyue’s voice soon came through.
“Wen Xin, I’m on my way back to Ancient Town Square now. My uncle contacted me, said he has some matters to discuss, and I’m returning with Chu Mufeng.”
Tan Xingyue’s voice wasn’t very loud, but the sound of the wind outside was strong. Had Wen Xin’s hearing not been good, she might not have been able to make out what Tan Xingyue was saying.
At the mention of her uncle, Wen Xin frowned involuntarily, as for a moment she couldn’t recall who this uncle was.
“The one back in our hometown?” The first person Wen Xin could think of was the uncle from their hometown. But based on her understanding of them, they wouldn’t arrange to meet Tan Xingyue alone; they would approach Wen Xin directly.
“No, it’s the uncle abroad. I can’t quite explain it myself. Wen Xin, I met them first before describing their identity to you.”
Tan Xingyue was also somewhat at a loss for words, but Wen Xin didn’t take it to heart. With Chu Mufeng accompanying her, she assumed her aunts and uncles must be aware of it as well. Since it seemed to be a family reunion, she felt there was no need to pry too much.
“Mhm, just give me a call if you need anything. Come back early.”
Wen Xin casually instructed Tan Xingyue a few more things, and Tan Xingyue responded oddly, finally telling Wen Xin that she was almost there before hanging up the call.
After ending the call with Tan Xingyue, Wen Xin felt she had rested enough. She climbed out of bed, went into the bathroom to freshen up, then changed into a new set of clothes. She walked over to her computer, pulled out the chair, and sat down.
The first thing Wen Xin did after powering on her computer was to contact Yan Qing. She had learned from Xiao Mi that her rescue would not have been possible without Yan Qing’s help.
While Wen Xin was contemplating matters, the handsome face of Yan Qing appeared on her computer screen, and Wen Xin turned on her webcam, her gaze cold and distant as she looked at him.
Yan Qing was slightly taken aback upon seeing Wen Xin’s expression. For a moment, he wondered if he had done something wrong to upset her.
“Boss, is that look on your face because I did something wrong?”
Wen Xin looked at Yan Qing and lightly shook her head, but then quickly nodded.
Watching Wen Xin shake and then nod her head, Yan Qing was puzzled. He couldn’t figure out what she meant by these conflicting gestures.
“Boss, just tell me straight if there’s something wrong. You’re shaking and nodding your head, and I really can’t understand what you mean. It’s making me a bit anxious…”
Yan Qing proactively begged for mercy. Although he didn’t know what he’d done wrong, he knew that apologizing first couldn’t hurt. Even if he did nothing wrong, his boss would probably be happy to hear an apology.
Seeing the pathetic look on Yan Qing’s face, Wen Xin didn’t want to trouble him further. She shifted her body, leaned forward slightly, and the dangerous glint in her bright eyes softened a tad.
“I just want to know how my firewall ended up in City S. I’ve said many times that we don’t do business with City S.”n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Yan Qing had not expected Wen Xin to contact him about this matter and let out an involuntary sigh of relief.
After he discovered the issue, he had started to investigate it, and by now, he had keyed into the crux of the matter and could give Wen Xin a satisfactory response.
“Boss, you really can’t blame me for this one. When I sold the firewall, I made absolutely sure of the person’s IP address, which was in City P. It was later that someone made a clone of our security system; it’s not an official version of our firewall.”
Listening to Yan Qing’s explanation, Wen Xin remained in a leisurely posture in her chair, simply raising her eyebrows slightly.
“Cloning technology? I’ve addressed that before as well. I don’t want my stuff to be cloned. Ultimately, you failed to prevent it.”
When Wen Xin had agreed to sell the firewall initially, her biggest demand was to prevent piracy. Now that the piracy was plainly before her, she felt it was Yan Qing’s negligence.
What do you think?
