Chapter 65: (1)
Chapter 65: (1)
A figure, whose identity was obscured by a robe, was walking toward a massive temple. However, what made it peculiar was that the exterior of the building was undoubtedly that of a temple, but the numerous statues and paintings adorning it did not fit the typical temple decorations.
Fierce-looking monster statues and depictions of ambiguous beings, possibly human or animal, engaged in battlesa gruesome sight that one wouldnt normally find in a regular temple.
Phew This place is unpleasant no matter when I come.
Continuing his journey, the figure stopped in front of the temples central entrancea door as massive as the temple itself.
High Elder, I have something to report.
Kugung.
As the figure spoke quietly in front of the door, the massive entrance slowly split open with a sonorous sound, revealing the interior.
Kuwong!
The figure, still clad in the robe, entered without hesitation. Inside, the atmosphere was somewhat darker compared to the bright outsidea place emitting an eerie energy, almost too strange to be called dark.
High Elder.
Bowing deeply, the robed figure addressed an elderly man sitting comfortably at the center.
Klkl, Varian, youve come.
Yes, I have something to report.
The High Elder seemed curious at Varians words.
Oh, if Varian personally comes to me, it must be an interesting story.
Well Im not sure if its interesting.
Varian appeared somewhat embarrassed as he looked at the High Elder.
Is that so? Well find out once you tell me.
The High Elder nodded, seemingly indifferent to Varians concerns.
Do you remember the dark sorcerer who fearlessly came near the temple fifty years ago? Markein Gullian, I believe.
Markein? Who was that Ah, ah!
Clap clap!
As the High Elder was tilting his head, he suddenly recalled something and clapped his hands.
Of course, I remember! That feeble fellow.
Referring to Markein, the dark sorcerer located at the edge of Circle 5, as a feeble fellow, the High Elder showed no regard for him.
Yes, thats correct. He could be considered trash for not surpassing his limits.
Whats more absurd is that Varian agreed with this evaluation. They treated Markein as if he were mere trash.
But why him?
Didnt you offer him a mana essence back then, thinking he might find it interesting? You told him to use it to break his limits.
Thats right. But in the end, he couldnt surpass them, right? So, since then, I havent paid any attention to him.
Yes, thats true. However, just in case, I left a mark on him with the seal. I thought it might come in handy someday.
Varian explained that the seal was a high-level magic that left a trace on the users consciousness, roughly indicating their location until the magic was lifted.
Klkl, why would I use someone like him for anything? Varian, dont bother with such useless matters.
High Elder, but Yesterday, the seal disappeared.
Just a moment ago, the High Elder was smiling, but upon hearing Varians words, he stopped smiling.
Are you sure?
Yes. Although we cant be certain about the exact location where the seal vanished, it seems to be in the Louis Plains. Since he wouldnt have entered the kingdom, I assume.
Varian had predicted Markeins approximate location through the sealing magic, but he never expected that he would die inside Babelin Castle.
Hmm Did any other Elders or the Church make any moves?
Yes, I checked with everyone, but none of them did.
Hmm, he was a sorcerer who reached the edge of Fifth Circle. Quite interesting.
Once again, the High Elder smiled as if he found it fascinating.
If its alright with you, High Elder, Ill personally look into it.
No need.
Pardon?
Just let it be.
But an individual like him
Isnt it interesting? To think there was such a person we didnt know about. If he grew to that extent without our help, maybe its better to leave him be.
I see. Understood. I will handle it that way.
As Varian respectfully bowed and stepped back, the High Elder was left alone, smiling broadly.
Klkl, its a variable,

At the boundary between the entrance and the center of the monster habitat in Gamian:
Krawaaah!
Hooep! Taaap!
Kaiyan swiftly slid and swung his sword towards the charging Minotauros, his form fluid and agile.
Phwahak-
As one of the Minotauros legs was mangled, it couldnt hold on any longer and collapsed, arms raised, slowly falling to the ground. It was a perfect opportunity to deliver a fatal blow.
Haah Powerful Downward Strike!
Pakak!
Summoning all the remaining strength, Kaiyan brought his sword down upon the Minotauros skull, and with the sound of bones breaking, the creature breathed its last.
Phew How many Minotauros is this now?
[There are 33 large monsters and 123 medium-sized monsters!]
Kaiyan had come to the monster habitat on Riekas recommendation, right after parting ways with Bansons mercenary group. He was actively participating in Riekas project to become stronger, hunting monsters non-stop, and working to raise his skill ranks.
Lets rest for a bit Im really exhausted.
[Ha Kaiyan, you havent raised your skill rank yet.]
I know, but lets just take a short break I cant move right now.
Kaiyan was trying to figure out how to raise his skill rank. The answer was simple: repetitive use. Rieka had warned him that using the shop to raise his rank was inefficient and should be avoided.
As a result, the only method left for Kaiyan was to repeatedly use skills against monsters.
Still, thanks to that, my skill ranks have increased significantly.
Although it had only been a week since Kaiyan entered the monster habitat, the rate of his growth far exceeded anything he had achieved before.
