Children of a Lesser God

Chapter 234: Ok...What?

Chapter 234: Ok...What?

Laz felt like the world was no longer what he knew. Gods were going to be coming after him for a power that he possessed and yet knew almost nothing about? And the changing of the people on the planet was all related to that large tree, like people with the 'blood infections' and those bastards who seemed to gain elemental powers but at the same time became raging assholes?

Laz had always been kind of sturdy, but he almost felt the need to sit down and try to process this.

:Scared?:

:Yes.:

:Not nearly scared enough.: The voice laughed in his head.

:What the hell is this? Why is this happening? And what the hell is happening to me?:

:Sorry kiddo. Too many questions and the answers will be detrimental to your future.:

:Fuck the secrecy bullshit. How the hell is knowing more going to be bad for me, huh?:

:Because. One flicker of a butterflies wings can cause a storm that could wipe out millions. Ever hear that example?:

:Kinda.:

:Well that's what this is kid. This is me trying not to provoke the butterflies. And you... you are that wind. I don't want to be the one to control what you do in the future or to point you to the end game. All that will do is change your direction and cause you to make choices based on my thoughts. And that's not helpful to you.:

Laz thought he understood where she was going with this, but he was still pissed. He wasn't a child (according to himself) and he didn't like being treated like one. But that's what was happening to him. Still, what the hell could he do about it? Fight a god? This girl, for her lack of movement and being sealed inside a coffin, gave Laz a very uncomfortable feeling, as though he was putting his hand in a bag with a poisonous snake. If he even dared to shake the bag up, he would be bitten and killed.

:So why aren't you interested in me? Why don't you try to capture me?:

:MMM.. good question. Well, to be honest, I thought about it. But even with my children's ability and strength, they wouldn't be able to restrain you. And besides which, your black flame doesn't really suit me. So it's better to work with you until you are killed or taken by someone else than it I would be to try to capture you myself. Besides, I am just a second generation god. I can't compare to those really old guys.:

:The old guys?:

:Hush. That's enough for now. You will learn, much sooner than you think.:

Laz could only make assumptions in his head. But if this girl wasn't considered strong among gods, then what was strong? Laz wasn't sure he wanted the answer to that. But this was all he could get for now. A least he had some idea what was going on.

:Good. Now that we have had a chance to speak, I need to sleep for a bit longer. It will take a while until the planet has been suffused with enough energy to allow me to get up and around and even longer for the old bastards. Still, you can expect that those who still have blood relations on this planet to start to get in contact with their kin. So if groups start forming, you'll know why. I need to have a moment with these dear children of mine so if you don't mind... get out?:

Laz might have been offended, but the amount of info he had to process made him want to leave more badly than she wanted to kick him out.

Laz barely glanced at the girls who were kneeling respectably by the coffin as he approached the now open door and walked out into the hallway. Finding the remains of a pillar, Laz sat down while taking a look out of the large, reinforced windows. He could see it was already night time and the moon was visible.

Laz could barely remember where all the time went today..

'I have to start work tomorrow.'

Laz briefly wondered whether it was a good thing to do something so trivial when his life and death were on the line, but soon brushed off that concern. He needed to have a cover story and this was a good one. He just needed to see it out till the end. And besides, somehow the door that was being opened wasn't ready to be opened just yet, so it was all just a waiting and wondering game at this point.

Laz didn't know what had happened after he left the room, but the girls soon came out, Freya first, followed by the four Ivy's. Looking at the four girls in masks following the short, big breasted beauty, Laz couldn't help but have many different thoughts. Still, he held himself back. He didn't lose himself in the bath and he wasn't going to lose himself here either.

They weren't talking to each other either, they just had their heads down in thought. For whatever reason, they stopped the moment they exited and stood there, alone in their thoughts. It wasn't until Laz cleared his throat that they all jumped to attention and looked over at him, sitting on a concrete stump while staring back at him.

Laz felt like they had funny looks in their eyes, at least, as far as he could see.

Laz was also really wanting to ask what was up with the half masks the Ivy's were wearing, but he decided not to. Seemed like it might be dangerous.

"So...?"

"So... you can talk with our goddess?"

"Seems like it, yes."

It was weird but the Ivy's seemed like they were mute now with their masks on. Still, hearing this from Laz was enough to cause them to murmur in a silent gasp. It was almost like hearing four lovely angels moan at once. It was a stark contrast to the cold looks on their faces. Even Freya couldn't help but look shocked. To them, previously, it seemed like Laz was simply staring at the coffin of their goddess with strange looks on his face, like he was reacted to the things he was being shown. They had experienced the same thing when they first came in contact with her. But now, hearing that he had actually spoken to her at length was enough to shocked all of them.

It was something they could only dream about, speaking with the mother who had taken them all in and gave them a home.

Yet this man could do it.

Laz instantly noticed that there was something wrong after he acknowledged this, but he had no idea what. He knew they couldn't speak to her, but he underestimated how much of an impact she was to their lives.

It wasn't like he hadn't met a god like being before.

Still, after their shock, they all seemed to smile at the same time, as though understanding had come over them. The only person left in the dark was Laz.

"So what are your plans now? You can feel free to stay here if you wish." Freya extended the offer, a longing in her voice. For a moment, Laz was surprised... then sorely tempted. Staying in a house of all women without another man in sight? It was ever guys teenage dream.

But he knew he could only refuse. Now wasn't the time to be distracted.

"That's alright. I have an arrangement already. Besides which, I have work tomorrow."

"Work? What kind of work will you be doing?" This time it was Freya's turn to be surprised. What important job could he have that would make him not want to stay here? It wasn't like she didn't understand the hearts of men, yet she was told no.

"I think I am going to be a bus boy, to be honest. I'm not sure..." Laz truly wasn't. He would only hear what his job was tomorrow.

"Bus boy? No. Really. What are you going to be doing?" Freya thought he was joking, to which Laz couldn't only shake his head up and down with a strange smile on his face. Freya knew he was telling the truth.

"But why?" She asked.

"It's already been arranged. It's ok though. I shall come back to visit. I needed a safe area to cultivate anyway and it seems like there is quite a bit of energy here to do so. Much better than just being outside somewhere. As long as that's ok?" Laz asked.

Although the girls where surprised that Laz had rejected their offer, they couldn't help but smile after hearing him say he would come back, especially the Ivy's. Their condition had scared off every man they had come in contact with since they had gotten free. It wasn't as though they had been this strong all the time. Although now they didn't need to worry, there was more than one time when they had been roaming around that they had been attacked by men who wanted nothing more than to dominate them after seeing their faces. It wasn't until their clothes came off that that the men backed off instead.

But that didn't seem to scare Laz away in the least, or so they were thinking. In truth, Laz had no aversion to them, or Freya. He felt they were infected like him so he immediately had feelings of friendliness towards them. It was that reason and that reason alone that would bring him back.

"You are welcome here any time." Freya agreed immediately. She was under orders, as best she could tell, by her goddess to keep Laz as close as possible.

"Something else though too. I spoke with one of the heads of the Vodun. She said... someone is doing something, opening up a door so such. And they are requiring a lot of deaths to do so. She doesn't know when the door will open, just that it will and that it might be a good thing, or it might be a very bad thing."

Hearing this news, Freya shook her head in understanding.

"Madam Cal is wise."

"You know her?"

"We do. Although we are at odds with the damn bible fuckers, we don't have any problems with the Vodun. Therefore, we have always been friendly to each other. The girls you see here are just part of our kin, there are many more out there who are different from us. Although they aren't qualified to be a part of this house, they are still allied with us. After all, we only take on... certain types of girls here. For those with different abilities, they form groups and units of their own. Sometimes though, things get a bit rough and they either fight among themselves or they draw the attention of the chosen. That's why, when something goes down, either we or the Vodun mediate it. It's much better than having it spread to the normies or the chosen."

"So, you're like the police of the infected around here?" Laz felt like this was a strange group to be in charge.

"The strong make the rules. It's the way of life." Freya just shrugged her shoulders and didn't say anything else.

Laz couldn't say anything else as he knew she was right. It seemed like a power triangle, but the Vodun and the Vampyres were allied. Even with that though, they couldn't relax for a moment. The chosen of the city seemed to have allied themselves as well, plus they had the support of the government. Laz had no idea how deep the ties ran.

"Alright. Since it's late, time I get back to my normal life," Laz said, expressing his interest in going.

Freya called over one of her girls who was waiting just inside the darkness before handing Laz a phone.

"Here. A few important numbers are on here. Keep it with you. I'm guessing you have a tendency to lose them," Freya said, passing it to Laz.

"How do you know that?" Laz asked, confused. He did have a few burners, but for the most part, he discarded them regularly. When it came down to it, he didn't really have anyone to call on a normal basis anyway so he was never really in need.

Freya didn't answer but instead smiled. She wasn't going to inform him of his own coming doom after all.

Just as Freya was about to have the girl escort Laz out, one of the Ivy's took off her mask and stepped forward, wrapped her hands around Laz's head and kissed him. It was warm and sloppy, but Laz felt like there was something else contained within it, besides just her tongue.

Just as she backed off, the other three girls proceeded to do the same. They removed their masks, kissed him for around one minute then stepped away and put their mask back into place. Laz could have stopped them, but he was too stupefied to make an effort. Luckily his body had it's own intelligence and he was able to return the kiss without seeming like a complete idiot. It was the only thing he had to be thankful for.

"Ok... what?"

Just as Laz found himself again, this time it was Freya's turn. The only problem was that she was quite a bit shorter than Laz so she had no choice but to jump up, wrap her arms and legs around him before burying her face in his. Although her lips were a bit cold, the warmth from her breath was still there, inspiring a heated passion to arise. The girls might have been sloppy, but Freya was compressed sexy, waiting to explode.

Laz felt his whole mind go blank, he could only helplessly grab on to her ass to support her while returning her kiss. If you could ask him why, he would say that he was just responding to her advance subconsciously, but he would be lying.

Either way, when she pulled back, there was just a slight string of saliva that followed her mouth, one that she used her tongue to grab and greedily suck. She then swallowed it with a cute gulp before smiling and hopping down, causing Laz to wonder just hot such a tight ass could also be so squishy.

"Come back soon." With those words, Freya and the Ivy's disappeared, blending into the darkness and out of sight.

"This way please." The young girl stepped forward and grabbed the dazed Laz's arm while leading him to the door.

When he was finally out of sight, Freya and the Ivy's appeared once more, although their eyes were closed.

"She's right. He is incredibly potent." Ivy said.

"Very potent," Ivy agreed.

"It was hard to stop."

"But we must be patient."

"You girls are right. It looks like our goddess has made good on her promise, you just need to not let it slip away."

"We won't."

"He can give us one of our true desires."

"He won't get away."

"We shall follow him for life."

"Alright, alright. Just remember to take it easy. He has... very powerful friends."

"Then what will you do my queen?" All four Ivy's asked at once. It was really hard for Freya to talk to them sometimes when they were chatty. After all, hearing the exact same voice say four different things was quite the headache.

"I will do what I must. The goddess has given me the key, but he needs to be willing. Which means we need him to be connected to us. At least, until it's time for him to go."

"Why not get him to stay?"

"The white fox has already conveyed that he must be left to grow on his own. Besides, I get the feeling that after this next ordeal is over, he will be leaving anyway."

"The white fox?"

"She is his backing?"

"No. That doesn't seem right."

"He must be something more."

"There is more. Whether it be the White Fox, Medusa, Panther or the Spirit Girl, they all have a claim on him. And they are not ones to cross."

This time, the four Ivy's didn't reply, knowing how serious it was. Those girls were a mystery that was discussed by all of the infected in the states and also desired by all of them, guys and many of the girls. They were like a myth to the infected. But all anyone knew was that those girls worked together, but separately. No one knew how they were connected.

But now it seemed like the riddle was solved.

"Due to this, we can only abide by his decisions and not force him. Otherwise, none of us can pay the price."

"Yes Queen."

Some secrets that Laz knew nothing about had been discussed in the dark reaches of the restaurant that Laz had just left, but he didn't even think about it after leaving. He was far to focused on digesting the information he had gained.
