Chapter 97 Love Strikes.
He shoved a shelf to the ground in a fit of anger and said, "You know what. We will just call finding a useful null ability Plan C. Or the plan I don't like. If Pauli doesn't show up and the black market doesn't work out, then we will try it."
He wasn't in a good mood because all of months of effort have gone to waste with the Purple Drag gang. If he hadn't just earned a good ability from the Justice League, he would be in a worse mood.
He is mad at the Justice League, but not so much. After all, it is thanks to them that he was able to upgrade Juggernaut's Heart. Their fight against the kidnapping in the city has also made things cheaper in the black market channels, so they have done some good things for him.
He said to Wrath, "I wonder why the Justice League would raid the Purple Drag gang. Isn't Fire Rose supposed to be busy hunting kidnappers."
It wasn't Wrath that replied. It was Purple Cloud's bodyguard that did. The woman was walking by when he came out of the closet. She saw him and began walking towards him.
On the way she said, "It is because Purple Cloud was helping some people sedate their product. I warned her not to do so, but she said it was easy money. It turns out that kind of money is not so easy to earn with the Justice League in town."
The bodyguard was a six-foot-five woman in a suit. She is the most powerful person and the only real woman in the entire gang. She had white skin, but she had red tattoos that ran down from her scalp to her toes. Her height and the red tattoos made her easily identifiable.
Kelvin muttered a curse inwardly as he bowed to her and asked, "Boss Ray, how is boss Purple doing?"
She shook her head. "You don't have to bow to me in public anymore. Purple Cloud is dead now. She won't be able to oppose our love anymore. We don't need to keep our relationship a secret any longer."
Kelvin was taken aback when he heard that. He thought his target for substitution was single, so he was surprised by this revelation. But things got worse.
Boss Ray smiled at him and said, "I am relieved that you are alive. I was afraid that I had lost you. Come over and give big mama a hug."
She stepped forward to hug him, but he stepped back to avoid the hug. This made the smile on Ray's face turn into a frown.
Kelvin tried to explain, "I am not in good shape for a hug. Look at me; I have blood all over my dress."
Ray continued to frown. Then she activated her ability fully. Her red tattoos had always protected her passively, but now they went into full activation mode. They created a layer of phantasmic armor around her.
The armor was translucent. It looked like it was made from red-colored glass. It made her look like a knight in dashing red heavy armor. She was completely encased in the armor including her hair.
She stepped away from him and asked, "Who are you?"
Wrath, who had been laughing beside him since, looked about ready to explode from laughter as she said, "Looks like the cat is out of the bag."
Kelvin didn't admit it. He tried to play it off. He asked with clear confusion, "What do you mean? I am still the Sheela you love. A little blood on my dress hasn't changed me."
His attempt worked. Ray nodded and smiled. She said, "You just look different a little."
She gave a sultry smile as she said, "Don't worry. I don't care about a little blood. I will take you here and now."n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
Your journey continues with empire
She moved closer to him to hug him. Kelvin took that chance to punch her. She moved to grab his fist, but he was too fast for her. His fist slammed into her face and sent her flying.
He flexed his hand and said, "You need to learn to pretend better. You could have at least removed your armor if you were going to pretend to be fooled."
She wiped the blood off her face in shock. She hadn't expected that speed and certainly hadn't expected that he would be able to hurt her.
The armor on the left side of her face had already cracked. It was something she hadn't seen in a long time. Even Fire Rose had only been able to drain her stamina and not harm the armor itself.
But she was an experienced fighter. She soon gathered her composure and said, "You also need to learn to pretend better. My Sheela has a mole on her neck and she doesn't dare to speak boldly to me. You messed up big time."
She stood up from the ground and flexed her muscles. "I'm guessing Sheela is dead. You are going to regret that. I am going to kill yo..."
She couldn't complete her threat because he was already in her face. Unlike Zain, he didn't need time to go from 0 to a 100. He didn't need to slowly accumulate force because his muscles could store the force passively without much strain.
He also didn't have to fear a backlash from converting so much force to speed in such a short amount of time. His steel physique made it easy for him to withstand the strain of such a manuver.
Ray noticed that he was much faster than her, so she didn't try to dodge. She doesn't like dodging anyway. She did what she always did. She rushed at him head on and hoped that her ability would protect her.
This plan had always worked, but her ability didn't give the stellar performance it usually did. It was barely keeping her alive as he smashed and tossed her around the room like a bouncing ball.
What do you think?
