Chapter 52

52 Chapter 52: Power of the blue gem

<> Alex’s mind was filled with thoughts as he realized something is wrong.

The fact that the mutant beast could muster enough power to break free from his hold in such a manner was more than enough evidence for him to know something bad is about to happen. When it stepped back to evade the decapitating attack, Alex’s heart skipped a beat but he remained calm.

To know the true limits of this beast he would need a sacrificial pawn to spearhead the attack

“And that is where you come in” Alex mumbled coldly as he watched the hunter charge at the beast fearlessly. He could have stopped him but he chose not to.

If someone who has been in this job for more than a decade now can be so hot-headed and refuse to analyze the battle situation then he is not qualified to be a hunter, nor should he be allowed to live.

“KILL!!!” the hunter screamed as he unlike a drill alongside his spear!

Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

The bat unleashed its disdainful gaze at the hunter and promptly swung its hands open as if it was asking for a hug. With just a glance, Alex’s eyes narrowed as his body trembled.

The hole in the mutant bat’s chest was filled with some sort of blue sticky substance with what seemed like a blue gem at the center. When the spear was just a breath away from it, it struck what seemed like a blue barrier shining brightly from the beast’s chest before repelling the hunter!

.....

Bang!

Puti!

The hunter was sent flying across the room, sending him crashing into the termite infested planks. Alex watched the hunter spit out a mouthful of blood and also realized his hand used to wield the spear has been twisted beyond recognition and the spear is broken.

The power within that pebble-size blue gem is just too powerful!

“As expected of the blue comet that changed the genes of the human race” Alex said calmly as casually walked towards the bat.

Even after what he has seen, a normal person would conclude this is the best time to flee but Alex saw things differently. While many may not believe this, Alex can be considered a youth who truly loves the human race and is willing to destroy anything that threatens it no matter the cost.

The fact that he is willing to sacrifice almost anything is the reason he believes he will become the strongest someday. Alex is not someone who is willing to take a bullet for the weak. Like why should the strong sacrifice themselves for the weak? Why would the person with the best chance of protecting this world choose to take a bullet for a small defenseless girl?

When he dies, what will stop the killer from killing the girl and everyone else?

Alex believed it is more reasonable for the little girl to die. As long as he lives, everyone else will survive because of him, not the girl. In his opinion, he is far more important than the hunter here but this is not a battle that is entirely impossible to win.

Seeing the beast make use of the gem, after plotting against them, he finally understood what makes tiger threat level beasts far scarier than wolf level beasts. The problem is not the strength gap, it’s more like the intelligence. Its plan practically crippled the hunter and destroyed his only means of hurting it. If he wasn’t here and this is just a one versus one deathmatch, the victor will be the beast.

“And that is why you have to die... You are too smart... I can’t let a beast of your level roam free” Alex said calmly as he assumed a fighting stance.

If it were before he would consider running but after absorbing the properties of the black spear with his matter absorption ability, Alex felt confident he can take the enemy head on.

Bam!

Without hesitation, he launched forward with a strong right fist and the beast promptly moved to the left to evade the attack while throwing its claw at Alex viciously.

Peng!

Its claws ran down Alex’s chest all the way from his face but it still didn’t leave a mark on him! Before it could react, a strong left fist smashed into its face, sending it staggering backward with a broken nose and blood dripping from it.

“As long as I can absorb a material capable of matching your strength you will lose... The gap in technique between us is just too great it cannot be ignored” Alex said while walking towards the beast again.

Kiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii!

The beast charged forward, letting loose a flurry of claw attacks but Alex showed no signs of retreating. His eyes were as calm as the clear sea as he ignored the attacks and punched forward!

Bang!

The beast was sent flying back and Alex chased without restraint. Using the first form of his demon-kin secret technique he allocated more energy to his feet allowing him to catch up to the flying bat. He grabbed it by its feet and swung down ruthlessly, smashing it into the ground.

Bang!

“Let’s keep going!” Alex said coldly as his eyes turned black and an invisible energy escaped his body, spread all the way to the mutant bat and making him light.

Bang!

Bang!

Bang!

Alex pulled the mighty beast up by its feet, slamming it to the ground by his side repeatedly. He looked like the Hulk smashing Loki around effortlessly.

Boom!

Suddenly the bat was enveloped by bright blue light, exploding and sending Alex flying. Hit the ground and rolled a couple of times, sitting out a mouthful of blood before looking up.

“You can’t keep doing that, you know that right?” Alex said while wiping the blood off his lips

His voice was filled with so much confidence the beast found it annoying. It revealed a human-like sneer as the blue gem on its chest lit up and blue veins began spreading across its chest, spreading to the other parts of Its body.
