DEVIANT

Chapter 62

62 Chapter 62: Practicing the second stage

“Kill me? In this condition? I can cripple you even if I was woken up to this... You are not my opponent boy” Jason said calmly as he stuffed his face with a piece of steak.

Hearing this Alex’s face twisted with anger and Tracy shot Jason a hateful look but she still stood in-between Alex and Jason in a bid to prevent anything unfortunate from happening. Meanwhile, Silver just sat and laughed while he watched the violence unfold. He seemed to enjoy hearing Alex and Jason curse each other but after Tracy gave him a hateful stare he sighed and stood up.

“Both of you, sit, eat and shut the fuck up” Silver said coldly.

...

Instantly there was silence. For some reason, Alex or Jason didn’t speak anymore. They just shot each other hateful glances occasionally while eating. Alex Wolfe down everything brought his way. He has never felt so hungry in a long while.

“We plan on forming a new family that can rival any other family in the big four and to do that we must recruit more powerful deviants and humans to join us... That is why Jason is here... Not only will this cover the investigation problem, but it will also give us another specialist deviant...” Silver said and Alex almost choked.

Cough!

Cough!

“Repeat what you just said... But this time, talk slowly and think things through” Alex said with furrowed eyebrows.

.....

He didn’t release any special power or anything, but everyone in the room could feel the tension between Alex and Silver right now. Jason and Tracy just remained quiet and didn’t even dare eat or breathe loudly. It felt like they were scared of getting noticed.

“I said we need someone like Jason in our team” Silver responded casually.

“And I say we don’t” Alex said coldly.

“You seem to fail to realize that I’m not asking... You can choose to let your emotions get the better of you but I won’t let it affect our plans, so let me tell you how it going to happen... You will finish your food... Jason will heal you and you will practice the second form of the demon-kin technique...” Silver said coldly as his eyes revealed a bright silver light but Alex didn’t feel threatened.

His eyes turned pitch black and everything in the room levitated off the ground, leaving behind only them and where they sat.

“Give me a reason why I should listen to you” Alex said coldly.

“Nice trick!” Silver said as he flicked his hand towards Alex throwing something.

Even with his weakened body Alex reacted fairly quickly and caught it. He gazed at it and it was just a small piece of paper with something written on it. Seeing it Alex’s face turned pale and he disabled his ability.

Bang!

The table and everything crashed to the ground shattering almost easily. Seeing Alex act in such a manner, Tracy and Jason wondered what was written on that paper. Alex simply stood and left the room quietly.

“What did you do?” Tracy was shocked. She didn’t think Alex could be tamed easily.

“I just showed him reality... Now he understands why we need Jason” Silver said casually.

After breakfast, Jason healed Alex under Silver and Tracy’s watch. Once he was fully healed, Alex didn’t bother with classes and focused on practicing the second stage of the demon-kin technique.

Sitting at the center of the underground training chamber, Alex breathed in heavily but it wasn’t only air e was pulling in. A refreshing feeling surged into his body so fast that his eyes yanked open and he spat out a mouthful of blood.

“What the hell?” Jason was stunned.

“Is he still hurt?” Tracy asked. That is the only reason why the martial arts will backfire when he is trying to practice.

“No, that’s not it... I believe he made a mistake” Silver said with furrowed eyebrows.

Just like Silver said, Alex, made a mistake. The second stage may be about rejuvenation but it also requires rhythm and stability. He shut his eyes tight again as he began practicing his breathing again. Alex’s eyes yanked open and his black pupils were gone.

He inhaled at a slow but steady pace. With each breath, he felt rejuvenated and stronger. As Alex continued it got harder to breathe, not because his nose was blocked or anything. His body was filled with veins and it felt like he was set ablaze. With each breath he took his body tightened and thickened. It took twenty breaths for him to reach his limit and as soon as he reached the twentieth breath, his body was reddish when he finally broke the rhythm his body returned to its normal form.

Huff!

Huff!

Huff!

Alex’s body trembled as his body was covered in sweat.

“Damn it... So little” Alex muttered as his body felt weak.

“That’s it?” Jason asked as he and the others walked into the room they were completely stunned.

“If it was that easy to practice a gold tier martial everyone would have been powerful” Alex said coldly.

“So what do you think about it?” Silver asked.

“Using this technique one can surpass his limits and fight for a prolonged amount of time... The energy I gain from each breath can last me a minute before the next... My limit is twenty breaths...” Alex said.

“Meaning you can fight for an extra twenty minutes!” Jason exclaimed.

It may sound useless but being able to last longer in battle cannot be underrated. This can be considered a godly ability for hunters who spend most of their time in life and death situations, leaving them exhausted. What they didn’t know was that Alex failed to mention the part where his body gets stronger as he practices this technique. Or what happens when he utilizes the built-up power in him.

The effects of the second stage may be amazing but it’s too time-consuming and hard to practice. Alex could tell that in a decade he won’t be anywhere near the peak of this technique.
