Divorced and Determined: The CEO’s Ex-Wife Fights for Love

Chapter 64

Chapter 64 Lu Qin Gets Investigated! Loyal Customers Stick Around!

The elderly man led the police officers straight to Lu Qin’s fried noodle stall.

Everyone around—the customers in line, nearby vendors, parents, and students at the school gate—immediately turned their attention to the scene.

“What’s going on?”

“Calling the police over a food stall? Isn’t this a bit much?”

“Isn’t it the city management’s job to handle street vendors?”

“There have been food stalls here for years without any issues. What’s happening now?”

“I don’t know why, but seeing the police always makes me nervous!”

Lu Qin handed a packed portion of fried noodles to a customer, who quickly paid via QR code and stepped aside, keeping an eye on the unfolding scene.

The line of customers made way as the elderly man and two officers approached Lu Qin’s stall.

Lu Qin looked up at the police, confusion evident on his face.

“Officers, please investigate,” the elderly man said sternly, pointing at Lu Qin.

The surrounding crowd erupted into chatter.

“They’re not here to shut him down. Did Boss Lu do something illegal?”

“No way! Boss Lu is such a nice guy—he doesn’t seem like the type.”

“Stop guessing! I trust that Boss Lu hasn’t done anything wrong!”

“Yeah, me too. There’s no way he’s a bad person!”

“If anything happens to Boss Lu, we won’t get to eat his delicious food anymore!”

The two officers saluted Lu Qin and politely introduced themselves.

“Sir, we’re officers from the Chengnan Police Station. My badge number is 548789.”

“And mine is 470023.”

“We received a report twenty minutes ago alleging that your food poses safety concerns. Please cooperate with our investigation.”

Lu Qin was momentarily stunned, his confusion deepening. The crowd was equally taken aback.

“Food safety issues?”

“No way! Boss Lu’s stall is the cleanest I’ve ever seen!”

“Exactly! His food cart is more hygienic than my own kitchen!”

“The officers are talking about food safety, not cleanliness!”

Lu Qin nodded calmly.

“Alright, I’ll cooperate with your investigation.”

He glanced at the elderly man briefly, vaguely remembering him as a previous customer. He couldn’t understand why this man had reported him.

“Please show us your ID and health certificate,” one officer requested.

Since Lu Qin wasn’t operating at a fixed location, he didn’t need a food business license. He handed over his documents.

While one officer examined the paperwork, the other inspected the food cart.

“Mr. Lu, what do you mainly sell at your stall?”n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

“I started with fried noodles and green bean soup. Later, I added icy cakes, twice-cooked pork, and chicken flower tofu.”

“That’s quite a variety.”

The officer checked all the ingredients and seasonings on the cart, finding only common, standard items and nothing suspicious.

“Where’s the twice-cooked pork and chicken flower tofu?”

“I don’t sell those in the morning. They’re for the afternoon and evening.”

“Got it.”

As they spoke, the officer observed Lu Qin closely, looking for any signs of guilt or nervousness. However, Lu Qin remained completely calm, showing no such reactions. Of course, the officer didn’t rule out the possibility that Lu Qin simply had excellent composure.

“We’ll need to take samples of your ingredients and food items for testing. Is that alright?”

“Sure, go ahead.”

The officers collected samples of the rice noodles, green bean soup, and icy cakes, placing them into evidence bags in the police car.

“We’ll send these for testing. The results should be ready this morning. Mr. Lu, would you mind accompanying us to the station in the meantime?”

Since the lab was free that day, the tests would only take about two hours. The officers planned to bring Lu Qin in—if there were issues, they’d handle it immediately. If not, he’d be free to go after signing off.

“Can I ride my food cart there?” Lu Qin asked.

“That’s fine.”

The elderly man also climbed into the police car, ready to give his statement and, with his strong sense of justice, see the investigation through to the end.

Lu Qin followed the police car on his three-wheeled food cart. But as the police car pulled away, they noticed a group of people trailing behind them—customers, parents, and onlookers.

The police car stopped, and one of the officers got out to confront the group.

“What are you all doing following us?”

“We trust Boss Lu! I’ve been eating his food for days—there’s no way there’s a problem!”

“Exactly! This has to be a mistake!”

The officer tried to explain, “Whether there’s an issue or not will depend on the test results.”

“We’ll wait and see the results!”

“We’re Boss Lu’s loyal supporters!”

“Officers, you better not wrong an honest man!”

The officer sighed, realizing this was going to be a long day.

“We believe in Boss Lu!”

Customers Stand Guard Outside the Police Station

“I trust Boss Lu 100%! I haven’t even had his fried noodles today. Once he’s cleared, I’m buying more!” One customer declared outside the police car.

The officers frowned—this was turning into an unusual case. The senior officer gestured for the other to drive on.

“Let them follow if they want. They can’t get inside the station anyway.”

The police station was less than a kilometer away, and after passing a few traffic lights, they arrived within five or six minutes.

Behind them, the group of loyal customers—some on foot, some riding electric scooters, and others on shared bikes—followed in a grand procession all the way to the station entrance.

The station’s barrier lifted, and one officer stepped out of the car to wave Lu Qin’s food cart through.

“If the food tests reveal any problems or illegal substances, everything on this cart will have to be confiscated,” the officer explained.

As Lu Qin drove his cart inside, the crowd outside called out.

“Boss Lu, we’ll be right here! Just give us a shout if anything happens!”

“Officers, please investigate thoroughly! Boss Lu is innocent!”

“Don’t wrong a good person!”

The officer raised an eyebrow, thinking to himself, What is this, a riot? If he’s guilty, are they planning to storm the station?

More than a dozen people stood vigil outside the station gates. Their presence attracted the attention of other officers.

“What’s going on here? Why are there so many people?”

“They’re all customers of that food stall owner inside. They’re here to make sure we don’t wrong him.”

“Wow, this guy has quite the fanbase!”

The officers glanced at Lu Qin, now seated inside the station.

“Boss Lu,” one officer asked, “should we ask them to leave?”

“No need,” another officer interjected. “The tests will only take about an hour. If the results show no issues, having them here could even help him get back to business faster.”

One officer took the samples to the testing lab, while Lu Qin sat on a bench in the lobby. Opposite him sat the elderly man who had filed the report.

The old man broke the silence.

“Young man, don’t take it personally. I’ve lived a long life and traveled far and wide, but your fried noodles are the only thing I’ve ever found addictive. It’s unusual—too unusual. For the sake of public safety, I had to report it.”

Lu Qin gave him a calm, measured look and said, “You had the right to do so.”

Though he didn’t lash out, Lu Qin wasn’t entirely at peace with the situation. It felt absurd and a waste of time. A female officer brought Lu Qin a glass of water before calling the old man in for questioning.

Outside the station, the crowd of supporters remained steadfast. They weren’t just there because they liked Boss Lu—they genuinely adored his food. Many of them had grown so accustomed to his cooking that the thought of losing it was unbearable.

Meanwhile, news of Lu Qin’s situation spread quickly in the group chat for his customers.

[Handsome and Unstoppable: Who has the nerve to file a report? Boss Lu’s food is perfect. I eat it every day!]. [Boss Lu’s Loyal Leg Accessory: Which station is he at? I’m going to protest!]. [Mrs. Lu: My husband is a good man! There’s no way he’d add anything shady to his food!]. [Peng Yuyan of Jiangcheng: But seriously, Boss Lu’s food is ridiculously good. I’ve never had twice-cooked pork that amazing. Could it actually have… something?]. [Boss Lu’s Girlfriend: Shut up! No way! My husband would never do something like that!”]. [No Icy Cake, No Life: I trust Boss Lu! He’s not that kind of person!”]. [Yaoyao’s Stepmom: Who’s the jerk who reported him? Was it a rival vendor?”].

The chat buzzed with activity as customers expressed their disbelief and support for Boss Lu.

Inside the station, Lu Qin sat quietly, waiting for the results. His calm demeanor masked the surreal nature of the day—a day that started with cooking fried noodles and ended with an investigation into his recipes.
