CHAPTER 477
"Place a call to her," a deep voice ordered.
The room exuded an aura of quiet authority, the semi-darkness casting an air of mystery and intrigue.
Dim light filtered through heavy curtains, barely illuminating the sophisticated furnishings that adorned the space.
The walls were adorned with rich, dark wood panelling, giving the room a sense of timeless elegance. The air was heavy with anticipation, every detail meticulously orchestrated to create an atmosphere of power and control.
At the centre of the room, an older man sat in a black, high-backed chair that exuded both luxury and authority. His presence commanded attention, his posture straight and unwavering. The chair seemed almost like a throne, a symbol of his dominion over the world he navigated with precision.
His green eyes, sharp and calculating, gleamed in the shadows as brought his steady hands together, fingers interlocking to form a pyramid in front of his face, a gesture that exuded both contemplation and control.
On the table before him, there was an opened file with pictures of Andromeda Kai and her achievements staring him in the face.
The phone in the tall man's hand glowed with a soft blue hue as he walked over to the seated figure. His grey suit matched the ambience of the room, blending seamlessly with the surroundings.
The illuminated dial icon on the screen seemed to beckon, a gateway to another realm of influence and power.
With a measured sense of purpose, the tall man extended the phone towards the seated figure, the connection now established.
The room seemed to hold its breath, the air electric with anticipation. The tension was intense, every occupant of the room aware of the weight of the impending conversation.
As the call connected, the older man's displeasure was evident in his voice, the words slicing through the silence like a blade.
"Andromeda has risen again. Yet another failure on your part, Fang Mei." The voice was commanding, each word dripping with authority and a hint of menace.
On the other end of the line, Fang Mei shivered slightly. Even though she was miles away, the weight of his gaze seemed to transcend the physical distance. The cold, steely tone of his voice sent a shiver down her spine.
And when she spoke, her response, though not audible, was almost palpable in the charged atmosphere of the room. The energy in the air seemed to shift as if the very room itself was responding to the authority that emanated from the seated figure.
"What silly excuse do you have to say for yourself?" he questioned, his voice unwavering as he awaited her explanation. The tension in the room was almost suffocating, every word hanging in the air like a heavy cloud.
Fang Mei's voice crackled through the speaker, her words careful and measured as she began to explain herself.
"I understand your disappointment, sir and I deeply regret the recent setback. The fashion contest was a crucial opportunity for us to strike but we got beat. It seemed someone else was out to get her and they failed."
The older man's gaze remained unwavering, his green eyes piercing through the shadows as he listened intently.
His fingers remained locked in the pyramid formation, a sign of his patience as he allowed Fang Mei to elaborate on her explanation.
"That proved that she's got a strong backing and it wouldn't be easy to trample on her anymore without facing serious consequences." Fang Mei added, her voice tinged with frustration.
Tension hung in the air as Fang Mei's words settled. Still, thee older man's expression remained inscrutable, his features a mask of contemplation as he absorbed the information.
"Excuses," he finally replied, his voice cutting through the silence like a blade.
"In the world we navigate, challenges and obstacles are inevitable. It is your responsibility to anticipate and overcome them, regardless of the circumstances. If you cannot manage such situations, then perhaps your position is not as secure as you believe."
Fang Mei's heart sank at his words. The weight of his disappointment was heavy upon her shoulders but more so, she was scared. She had expected his stern response, yet hearing it directly from him was a stark reminder of the high standards she was held to.
"I understand, sir," she responded, her voice tinged with humility. "I take full responsibility for the recent failure. I assure you that I am actively taking steps to gain grounds over her."
The older man's gaze seemed to soften slightly, his fingers finally releasing from their pyramid formation. "And what might that be?"
"I um intend on dropping the bomb of her father willing his inheritance to my son and um..."
"Actions speak louder than words, Fang Mei," he interjected sharply. "Remember that the success of Andromeda is not something I can allow. We must ruin her as we did her mother even if it costs her, her life," he said sternly.
Fang Mei nodded, her resolve strengthening as she absorbed his words. "Thank you for your guidance, sir. I will ensure that Andromeda's next downfall will be met with the utmost diligence and preparation."
"You better do, Fang Mei. I am growing impatient and I can dispose of you anytime."
"Yes sir."
"Very well then. I expect to see tangible results in the near future. Do not disappoint."
With those final words, the call ended and the atmosphere in the room shifted slightly.
It no longer held the dread of death but the aura?remained.
"Make sure you keep an eye on her Zhou Choi. Ensure no slip ups. It is time we deal with this thoroughly before she gets stronger protection."
"Yes sir."?Placing a hand across his chest, he dipped his head before taking a step back.
Keeping his gaze locked on the recent photo of Andromeda in the company, his eyes narrowing at the person beside her—Liu Xueyi.
The older man leaned back in his chair, his green eyes still gleaming with scrutiny.
"Andromeda Kai. Your end is near."
