When the system notification rang in Su Yen's head, a series of ancient words streamed into his brain slowly, and he opened his mouth subconsciously. He began to speak a strange language.
"Meena Maana… Thik… Vaish Tuna…Thik.. Vim Lama Mena…"
As he uttered this ancient language, the bronze sturdy door began to shake slowly, and all the ancient characters on the door began to move as if they were alive.
After a couple of seconds, the ancient bronze door finally opened slightly, and a rush of ancient breeze escaped from the door. The air was filled with pure spiritual essence that almost choked him to death.
'Who would have believed that such pure spiritual essence would be locked inside the ancient door?' Su Yen thought out loud and took a deep breath to regain his composure as he stepped into the door.
Stepping inside, he found himself in a dilapidated, wide room bathed in dim, eerie light that filtered through cracks in the ceiling. The air was thick with the scent of age, dust, and memories long forgotten.
Before him, stretching the length of the room, were giant statues that appeared frozen in time. These statues were a testament to a great ancient battle that had once raged through this place. Some depicted humans, their faces etched with determination, their bodies adorned in battle-worn armor, and their hands clutching weapons that had long since rusted away.
Opposite them were statues of strange and mythical beasts, their forms twisted and fierce, their eyes frozen in a perpetual state of defiance. These creatures bore markings of the same great battle as the humans, and the intent coming from both the human and creatures sent a shiver down his spine.
He sucked in a cold breath with all his hair standing on end, his eyes moving back and forth. This was the most fearsome place he had seen in his life. Even though these creatures and humans had died a long time ago, the aura radiating from their bodies would kill anyone below the Foundation Building Realm. If not for his armor protecting his body, he would have long turned into a pile of bones from this aura.
Just as he marveled at their extraordinary strength, he heard a voice that made his heart skip a beat.
"With my long years of waiting, who would have expected I would be confronted with such a weak, pathetic human?"
At the other end of the room, an illusory figure appeared. He had the figure of an old man with a long beard that almost reached the ground. On his face was a deep scar that traveled from his left ear down to his chest. Even though he was in an illusory form, his physique gave off an intimidating presence.
When Su Yen saw the old man, he was astounded for a moment. He opened his mouth to speak, but words failed to come out.
"Why have you not heard or seen people in their soul form before?" the old man asked in disdain.
Listening to the disdain in the old man's voice, Su Yen recovered and said respectfully, "I've never heard that people could exist outside their mortal bodies."
"Elder, can I ask who you are and why you're here?" Su Yen inquired.
Hmm?
When the old man heard his question, his disdainful expression softened a bit, and a look of longing and reminiscence filled his face.
"I've long forgotten my name, but people call me Ghost Spear," he announced arrogantly.
"Elder Ghost Spear, what happened here?" Su Yen asked. This had been the burning question in his mind since he arrived in this strange underwater world.
"Before I answer your question, let me ask you. How is my human race?" Elder Ghost Spear asked.
"We're barely surviving since the descent of the Bloodmoon Envoy. The monster beast race is now the hegemony of our world," Su Yen reported truthfully.
Hearing this, Elder Ghost Spear was quiet for a moment, with various conflicting gazes flashing across his face.
"I guess the fate of the human race in our world is about to come to an end," he finally spoke. "We fought the Bloodmoon Envoy and killed most of them when they first arrived. However, since we humans are greedy and selfish, we invited the tiger into our home."
"Those damn traitors," he said, with his voice laced with fury that had existed for hundreds of years.
He took a deep breath and sighed, throwing all unnecessary burdens of the world out of his mind.
"It is now left for you to fight for our world. Those damn traitors must be killed," he uttered once again. "As for these beasts, they supported the Bloodmoon Envoy in destroying our world. We don't know why the Bloodmoon Envoy came to our world, but they existed only to bring us to our doom."
"Seeing you, I can presume how the world out there would have gone backward. With how weak you are, I don't think there is any hope for us again," Elder Ghost Spear continued to lament.
Suddenly, his demeanor changed, and he fixed his gaze on Su Yen.
"This place was supposed not to open unless a powerful person appeared in the world. However, I don't think that was the case…" he said in a solemn voice. "A taboo must have happened?"
"Taboo?! What do you mean by that?!" Su Yen asked, with a gut feeling telling him he was related to this taboo.
"Since the continuous descent of the Bloodmoon envoys, all the powerful humans agreed to disband the creation and existence of a sect, hoping to give our world a chance of survival."
"As long as a powerful sect existed, the fate of the world would concentrate in a single place, allowing the descent of powerful Bloodmoon envoys," he paused to arrange his thoughts before adding. "Also, this type of place would continue to be on lockdown."
Looking at the confusing expression on Su Yen, Elder Ghost Spear sighed.
"The water of the Lotus world is too deep for you to know everything now. Besides, you're just too weak. But what I will tell you is this: if a sect is created, this place would open, and the ancient beings held down here would start to regain consciousness."
"Hence, no sane person or group should create a sect in our world if they don't want it to burn," he said seriously.
Hearing this, Su Yen had goosebumps, and his heart raced.
'What have I done?' he cried in his heart. To avoid giving himself away, he tried to calm down and asked slowly, "So what if a sect is created? Can it be disbanded immediately to stop this place from opening?"
"No…" Elder Ghost Spear shook his head. "This had been ingrained in all humans—never to create a sect until a powerful being could fight for the fate of this world. As long as no such person appeared, and a sect is created, this would happen, and it can never be stopped."
Just as Elder Ghost Spear finished speaking, the underwater world began to tremble vehemently.
Seeing this, an exhausted look appeared on his face before turning to calm.
"I guess my role has completed. This place is going to be destroyed since you destroyed that ancient formation and opened this door."
"Go now and prepare for the worst. The world is about to face its worst nightmare."
He waved his hand, sending Su Yen away.
As for Su Yen, he was left flabbergasted by what he learned. Just as he turned to leave, he heard Elder Ghost Spear's voice.
"This place is built on a massive spirit vein. After its destruction, you can come and mine the available spirit stones."
Su Yen didn't bother to respond and could only nod his head.
After leaving the ancient room, Elder Ghost Spear looked in the direction of Su Yen and muttered.
"He created a sect…but the world providence around him is the greatest I've ever seen... I hope this is for the better."
With that, his figure turned into nothingness while the room fell into destruction.
