Chapter 196 Agent
The fire of battle was gradually engulfing the entire city. Because of the Players' actions, many ordinary people had already suffered, but, gradually, it all faded into the background as they began to fight each other.
There was practically no one who decided to act that night for no reason. Someone wanted to rob a bank, someone decided to attack the police station, and someone decided to use the moment to get revenge on someone.
There were many reasons, so now ordinary people were just watching, with fear and concern on their faces.
They were trying to figure out how people suddenly had superpowers, and it was actually quite easy to do.
"Holy Shit... Is this really all happening because of this crazy game!" The middle-aged man muttered with a trembling look at his phone.
It was no longer a secret now, as a lot of players who weren't strong enough to engage in combat began to talk about the incredible effect of Fallen Fate Online.
"Well... I don't have that much to say." One prominent Fallen Fate Online blogger wrote, "You see everything with your own eyes. The only thing you can do now is to make sure you're safe and start playing Fallen Fate as soon as possible. That's the end of it."
Millions of people searched for as much information as they could, but they all got roughly the same answer.
"Fuck... This is so stupid..." The young man with the glasses muttered, sitting in the corner of his room. His desk was covered with various books as well as a closet; he had attended one of the best universities in the city.
He looked at his phone, then his eyes went blank, "So everything I did before was pointless? What was the point of more than ten years of study if now everything depended on the power of...?"
Similar emotions were felt by many people around the world. They were lost, because now everything had changed, and they weren't ready for it, absolutely.
All the people who had money or power had known for some time that Fallen Fate was not just a game, so as always it was the ordinary people who found themselves in the worst situation. They would have to adjust to the new world and learn to live by the new rules, though they still had hope.
"Damn... Will the government do nothing? I don't believe it!" The man exclaimed, pounding his fist on the table.
Booooooooooooom.
At the same moment, something exploded as the man ran outside, only to see massive flames and several cars collide with each other.
A single man with a sly grin on his face was pacing in the middle of the multi-lane road. His hands were covered in flames as well as his feet. He was truly enjoying what he had done.
"Hah, this is just incredible! Now I can do whatever I want!" The man laughed angrily, then he stared at the woman who miraculously managed to remain unharmed.
"I would have drawn too much attention to myself before, but since no one else is planning on hiding, no one cares about my actions during the chaos, do they?" The man licked his lips as he rushed toward the woman.
The woman was trembling with fear, there was only fire and destruction all around her, she didn't know what to do, for her, it was a trap from which there was no way out.
"Oh, don't be afraid. I'm actually a gentleman, just maybe a little testy. Ha-ha!" The man gradually stepped closer, as if he didn't want to hurry.
"No!!!" The woman screamed, hoping for someone to help her, but they were the only ones here, she had no one to hope for.
The man watching clenched his fists tightly with a gulp. He wanted to help her, but he just couldn't move, he knew it would just be death for him.
"Come on. Stop screaming." The man smirked, extending his hand toward the woman.
Whooooooooooooosh.
At the same time, a silhouette burst out of the flames, and instantly tossed the man aside, with a powerful punch of his fist.
The man was shocked as his eyes went wide while waves of pain spread throughout his body.
"Argh!!! Bastard! Who are you?!" The man quickly got to his feet.
In front of the woman stood an agent in a black suit, and glasses, and on his ear was a special microphone from where he received commands.
"Eagle in position. One resident and one intruder here. Trying to disarm the target without unnecessary destruction." The man said, after a while, he nodded, "Eagle out."
"Hey! Are you deaf!? Who the fuck are you!?" The man exclaimed with an angry look.
Eagle sighed, "Give up, and I won't hurt you. Judging by the fact that you couldn't dodge my punch and react in time, your Level shouldn't be higher than 20 or even 15, should it?"
The man frowned and said nothing, it seemed that the agent's assumption was correct.
"I see..." Eagle nodded, "In that case, you don't stand a chance against me. Unless you want to spend the next few weeks in the hospital, you'd better turn yourself in right now. Then the punishment for what you did will be a little less."
The man's face twisted in anger as his body went up in flames and his black hair turned scarlet, emitting bits of fire.
"Don't mess with me! I don't know who you are, but you definitely overestimate yourself!" The man shouted, before tearing forward.
Eagle stayed where he was, not at all concerned about what his opponent was doing.
'You made your decision, so don't blame me for what I do next." Eagle said confidently as he stepped forward, colliding with the man.
Crackling.
His fist came down on the man's face, stopping him and causing him to lose consciousness for a moment from the powerful blow, then Eagle grabbed the man's arms.
Eagle made a sharp turn, collapsing the man to the ground with such force that the solid asphalt cracked, and a stream of blood gushed from the man's mouth.
"Bastard! I can still fight!" The man exclaimed furiously, but, no sooner had he risen than Eagle brought his fist down on his face again. This time finally knocked him out.
Eagle looked around carefully, then he took out a handkerchief and wiped his hands of blood.
"Damn... That was easy, but what am I going to do if I run into someone much stronger...? Fuck, I hope I don't have to fight Zayne Fellen." Eagle muttered with a slight shiver.
He had been one of the Squad Alpha, and from the moment the Government had learned of Fallen Fate Online, he had been selected as one of the candidates. Now, the moment had come for which he had trained, but despite the government's best efforts, Squad Alpha Members were not the strongest fighters.
"Thank you..." The frightened woman muttered with sincere gratitude in her voice.
"You're welcome. It's my job. Someone has to deal with all the chaos and mess these idiots have made." Eagle modestly replied.
"But... How did you do it... Just a few blows, and you win..." The woman was shocked at the incredible strength Eagle possessed.
Eagle shrugged, "I'll be honest, right now there are people in this world that I couldn't beat. It's all about power, real power that we used to read about in fairy tales and stories, but now it's reality. I have nothing more to say to you."
Whoooooooooosh.
Eagle turned around, picked the woman up in his arms, and ran toward the nearest safe zone. Even though he was in a suit, he moved swiftly and freely, leaping across the roofs of burning cars.
The woman was silent, she didn't know what to say and was just glad to be alive after the explosion and eventually saved. She just clung to Eagle's chest, with her eyes closed.
'Damn... This job obviously has its perks, but this time I just got lucky with my opponent.' Eagle muttered inwardly.
A few minutes later a couple of cars pulled up to the bridge, but they weren't police or firemen, the cars were black, and agents came out of them. They worked for the government, but unlike Eagle, they didn't have superpowers. Their job was to deal with the aftermath.
"Let's go! Make sure that bastard doesn't wake up before his time!" The commander said sternly, pointing to the man lying unconscious on the ground. The fire on his arms had already gone out.
One of the agents ran up to the man, opening a black briefcase. Inside were several syringes, with a very powerful dose of sleeping pills, enough even for an elephant.
After one syringe was injected into the man's neck, the agents handcuffed his hands and carried him to the car.
"Agh, we're using regular handcuffs... This is some kind of a leisurely joke." The commander complained, taking a pack of cigarettes out of his pocket, "Even though he's much weaker than Eagle, it won't be a problem for him to break them. Hopefully, the sleeping pills will be enough for a few hours."
Similar situations were happening all over town. Government people like Alice were in control, and agents were at all the important points. However, some places didn't need them, and Hospital #17 was one of those places.
Zayne, like a shadow, walked past all the fighting men and stopped in front of the entrance. He took a deep breath and sat on the steps like a guard who would not let a single soul inside the hospital, waiting for those who wanted to test him.
