Chapter 409 The One Who Conquered The Dungeon
"Guild Master Corvus, Crowley requests an audience."
"Tell him to come in."
*CREAK*
Entering the Guild Master's office, Shye offered Corvus a profound bow. He then walked closer to his desk.
"What brings you here, Crowley? If this is about the failure to conquer the dungeon, there's no need for you to worry as the other cities had access way earlier than we did so their chances of clearing the dungeon first were higher than ours."
"Ahh…yes, this is about conquering the dungeon, however, before I show you something, can you please summon Luna?"
"Hmm? Alright, wait over there for a bit."
Crushing a short-distance communication talisman, Corvus contacted Luna, who was silently mulling about the things that went wrong inside her first dungeon extermination mission.
"Luna, come to my office."
*BLEEP*
Hearing the guild master's words, a confused expression appeared on Luna's face.
She just finished her report around ten minutes ago, hence, she couldn't fathom why Corvus would summon her again.
Walking towards Corvus' office, Luna arrived around two minutes later, easily noticing that someone was waiting at the side.
She then nodded customarily at Shye before walking closer to the guild master's desk.
"Greetings, guild master. May I know why you summoned me?"
"Ah, indeed. I apologize for not providing a clear explanation earlier. Nonetheless, it was not my intention to summon you here, but rather his." Corvus replied as he turned his head towards Shye.
"Crowley? Why?"
Now, Luna was utterly confused. She couldn't think of a single reason why Shye would look for her.
'I already apologized to him and he also told me to not mind the matter of him being separated from the party due to that witch…'
She didn't have to think for long though as Shye walked and stood beside her; then, facing the guild master, the ashen-haired rookie took out something that made both her and Corvus' eyes almost pop out of their sockets.
"C-Crowley…you…"
"Yes, Guild Master. I'm the one who cleared the dungeon."
For a while, Corvus and Luna couldn't speak—their mouths slightly agape.
[Congratulations! You've earned 2 points!]
Observing their reactions, Shye smiled inwardly in sheer satisfaction. He then spoke again to clarify his intentions:
"However, I want to make it clear that I would like for the rewards to only be split between me and Luna. I trust she can attest that I acquired the dungeon core independently, without assistance from the bastards from other guilds. Also, they didn't like me as a party member and I didn't like them as well so I wouldn't allow them to obtain anything from the fruits of my labor."
Hearing Shye's words, Corvus almost burst out laughing.
'This young rascal is certainly not someone who would allow others to take advantage of him, especially those who got on his bad side.' The guild master mused.
Meanwhile, Luna was still shocked; however, such an arrangement didn't sit right with her, thus she would naturally speak her mind.
"C-Crowley, I appreciate the thought. However, I don't feel I deserve a share. You can take everything, as I would find it hard to accept such an unearned reward..." Luna said, slightly bowing towards Shye and Corvus with an uneasy expression before swiftly leaving the office without turning back.
Naturally, Shye, who was all too happy to receive the freebies coming his way, would never understand Luna's decision.
"You heard her," Corvus said with a helpless shrug, making Shye recognize just how stubborn Luna could be.
"C-Can't she just at least accept the instant promotion?"
"I'll try to convince her one more time. If she still doesn't accept, just let her be. She's the type who stubbornly lives by her own set of values."
Nodding helplessly, Shye gave the mana dungeon core to Corvus.
The guild master stared at the core for a while before shifting his attention towards Shye once more.
"So…will you…uhh…tell me how you managed to clear the dungeon alone?"
"Ahh…hahaha...well, I fell from a height and luckily stumbled upon the core…hahaha…"
"Sigh... so you don't want to tell me, huh? That's fine. Well then, you're dismissed for now. However, refrain from taking any quests for a while. The city lord will likely summon you in a few days.
Here, take this communication talisman; I'll contact you when you're summoned."

"Haaah…Haaahh…"
Three days passed since Shye gave Corvus the dungeon core.
Unfortunately, there was still no word from his guild master. Seira also embarked on a solo quest, thus, he decided to train his reflexes while waiting.
After all, the opponents he would face would have increasingly higher attributes, and if he didn't train his reaction time, he would struggle to respond effectively to their attacks.
"That's enough training for today…"
Offering a slight bow to the training center's staff member, Shye left the establishment.
A few moments later…
"Crowley, come to the city square tomorrow at 10 AM. City Lord Felix wants to hold a ceremony for your outstanding achievement."
"I understand, Guild Master Corvus."
*BLEEP!*
It was evident that the branch guild master wasn't fond of empty talk, however, Shye preferred for things to be this way.
After all, what would he talk about with a middle-aged man in his fifties?
'A ceremony huh…' Shye mused with an excited smile, daydreaming about the points he would earn. 'Well, better sleep early tonight!'
…Meanwhile, in Krevar City, a group of young adventurers gathered at the Krevar City Square.
"Hmmph! So it was adventurers from Balkrow, the sneaky bastards!"
"They didn't even have the guts to admit it in front of us! Surely, they're scared!"

"Indeed. Dodge, when will we set out to reclaim what was rightfully ours?"
"Tomorrow, we shall head towards Balkrow City!"
Naturally, Shye, who was merrily walking toward the inn, somewhat expected Dodge's party to pay him a visit. However, what he didn't anticipate was that upon entering a dark alley—a regular shortcut to the inn—five familiar faces would be waiting for him.
"Well, well, if it isn't the lucky bastard. Now, will you give us a share of the rewards you obtained through sheer luck or should we end your life right here, right now?"
