Chapter 392: They turned their backs

Chapter 392: They turned their backs

"Come with me, I'll show you," Tang Li walked after the girl as they entered the ballroom.

After a few minutes, Huangfu Lin walked out before looking at her men, "Who started the firing first? Come out."

Her sharp tone and cold eyes were different from her earlier gentle faade.

The man who started firing came stepped out immediately.

"Who else?" She glanced through the rest of the men.

Two more men who were trying to shoot Tang Li stepped out.

"Go back to the palace and meet the elders."

Everyone was stunned. Going to the elders means the punishment will be severe. Will they ever come back alive?

She looked at them coldly, "First, trying to kill Sister Li without a proper reason. Second, trying to harm the person who has the three royal families wrapped around her finger. Explain your crimes properly even if it leads to execution."

Astonishment marred their faces as they tried to digest the information.

The three men bowed to her and left without hesitation, realizing the severity of their crimes.

"Guard the door properly," As Huangfu Lin stepped inside, she was met with Tang Li who was leaning against the pillar with her arms folded in front of her chest. She cleared her throat before smiling gently, "Sister Li, when did you come here?"

"When you were disciplining them," Tang Li stood up straight before putting her pistol near her waist.

At times like this, one could not trust their shadows. How would she dare to trust a stranger? But it seems like, the girl is not a foe.

Tang Li smiled.

"Sister Li, I didn't expect you to witness this.''

Tang Li shook her head, "A few rules can never be bent. I don't find anything wrong with your way of setting them straight," With that, she turned around and walked towards the middle of the ballroom.

On the floor, there was a missing tile and an ordinary-looking jade bangle sat on the concrete. "So, this is the power all of them are fighting for?" The corner of her lips twitched.

This teeny-tiny jade is responsible for the face-off between all these factions? Which one of all these powerful men could possibly wear this thin bangle and rule the world?

She chuckled.

"It is not ordinary," Huangfu Lin said with a solemn expression on her face.

Tang Li raised an eyebrow.

The girl extended her hand towards the bangle and pointed her finger towards the object. The royal purple gem sitting on her finger shone with a strange light while the jade bangle vibrated.

Tang Li's eyes widened as she took a step back. Disbelief was written all over her face as she watched the jade bangle turning translucent.

An exquisite imprint appeared on Huangfu Lin's wrist as sweat dripped down her face.

There seemed to be a force that recoiled all of a sudden and the girl fell back on the floor, "Ahh" The girl panted hard trying to support her body.

Tang Li immediately went to her side to support her body. She patted her back, "Are you fine?"

"CoughCough... I am alright," Huangfu Lin stood up before looking at Tang Li, "I don't know what's going on. Every time I do this, I can feel it coming to me but there is some sort of resistance."

"So, it really belongs to Huangfus," Tang Li muttered, looking at the unidentified object. She felt like what happened before was a dream. How could such objects exist in the 21st century?

For the first time, she felt like the royal families really had deep mysteries running within them.

"Give me your ring," Tang Li glanced at Huangfu Lin.

The girl removed the ring from her index finger before passing it to her without hesitation.

Tang Li put it on her finger before pointing it at the jade bangle. The same reaction. It vibrated again but she did not feel any pain neither did any imprint appear on her wrist.

She removed the ring and gave it to Huangfu Lin, "Does anyone else knows it is here?" She asked.

The girl shook her head, "Brother Yuhan has given me the map. No one else knows about the exact location."

"Where did all the people in the yacht go?"

"Brother Yuhan arranged rescue boats for them when the other party made the move. There were many people but he handled it effortlessly.''

Tang Li looked at the jade bracelet, "I think I know how to crack this code but we need Mo Yuhan for that. Let's go find him first."

Huangfu Lin nodded and followed after her but Tang Li's footsteps came to a halt.

She turned around to look at her, "Address him as brother-in-law from now on."

The girl was speechless, "Sister Li, are you jealous?" Since she has been in contact with Mo Yuhan for years, she knew about their relationship so it didn't come off as a surprise to her.

Tang Li shrugged, "I've never gotten along with the people who address him as 'brother, big brother' or anything as such."

My man is my man. It is my birthright to call him with such cheesy or coy nicknames.

"He is my brother-in-law from this day onwards," The young head of the Huangfu Family smiled.

Tang Li chuckled, "Why did he arrange the rescue boats? What about the people from the military?"

"When they got to know that this thing belongs to Huangfu Family, they stepped back not wanting to mess with the royal families. They left in their military rescue boats. Only General Ye, Captain Ethan, and his team stayed back but brother.. cough... brother-in-law's manpower is unparalleled and I've sent half of my men there. Your personal security team is there too so he should be fine."

Tang Li's gaze darkened. These people who supposedly claim to save the nation left their teammates behind the moment they realized they won't profit by staying here.

Till yesterday, they were wagging their tails in front of Mo Yuhan, almost ready to lick his shoes at any given moment because of acquiring the mysteriously powerful thing but now that it belongs to Huangfu Lin, they immediately left.
