Hang-up One Second to Achieve Lv.999

Chapter 11

C11 – Wen Shangwei

After getting home, Qi Ning took a refreshing shower and slipped into fresh clothes, feeling a wave of comfort envelop both his body and mind.

The day’s events had left him with a lingering sense of unease.

He was aware that Pei might come looking for trouble at school on Monday, and he still had one AFK point remaining for that day.

”I have to save the AFK point for the last hour of each day,” he resolved, drawing insight from the day’s experiences. Had he used the AFK point that morning, he was certain he would have ended up in a bad situation.

By the time he took a break, it was already noon. Post-lunch, he settled down to tackle his homework. As a senior, his assignments were predominantly written exercises.

By the time Qi Ning finished his work, dusk had painted the sky. His performance on subjects other than politics and language was noticeably less fluid, reflecting his lower proficiency in those areas.

The night slipped by.

Come Monday morning, Qi Ning strode through the school gates, brimming with energy. At the entrance, he caught sight of Xiao Qing, who also noticed him. However, Qi Ning sensed something off about Xiao Qing’s look but couldn’t pinpoint the reason.

The day kicked off with a politics class. Since the test was a minor one, Mr. Wen Shangwei allocated just one period for it, sticking to his usual practice. Students tackled the test in the first period while Mr. Wen spent the second period marking and reviewing, interspersed with explanations of key concepts.

The instant Qi Ning received his test paper, a spark of determination ignited in his eyes. He dove into the questions, but Mr. Wen found his enthusiasm puzzling.

Mr. Wen had a fondness for Qi Ning. Despite consistently poor grades, Qi Ning’s persistent effort was not lost on him.

As the class ended, Mr. Wen signaled for the papers to be collected. Back in his office, he singled out Qi Ning’s paper for a closer look. What he saw left him astounded.

”Mr. Wen, what’s the matter? You seem so surprised,” Cao Faang inquired, approaching him with a curious smile.

Mr. Wen gave Cao Faang a glance but offered no explanation, simply returning the smile.

Wen Shangwei was well aware of Cao Faang’s opinion of Qi Ning. If he were to bring up the issue with Cao Faang, she would undoubtedly accuse Qi Ning of plagiarism.

Yet, he was absolutely certain that Qi Ning hadn’t copied anyone’s work.

From the moment the exam began, Wen Shangwei had kept a vigilant eye on Qi Ning.

Throughout the entire test, Qi Ning worked diligently and meticulously on his paper. Now and then, he would pause, a contemplative look crossing his face, but it would quickly pass.

“Has he gotten smarter?” Wen Shangwei wondered to himself.

In the second period, while grading papers at the lectern and discussing key concepts, Wen Shangwei kept the class engaged.

With ten minutes left in the session, he gestured for the class representative to distribute the graded exams.

“A student in our class has truly surprised me this time,” Wen Shangwei announced with a smile, once all the papers had been handed out.

“Even though this was merely a minor quiz, it included questions that have been commonly mistaken in previous years’ exams. So, it was by no means simple.”

“Yet today, one student in our class managed to correctly answer every single one of these challenging questions.”
