Chapter 13
C13 – How will You Prove This??
Qi Ning’s loud declaration was utterly ineffective.
Before his words could even settle, they were overwhelmed by an even noisier commotion.
Wen Shangwei watched everything unfolding below him on the stage, feeling a sense of melancholy.
He even began to regret announcing Qi Ning’s perfect score so loudly.
Qi Ning’s face was etched with despair.
“Is it really that hard to admit you cheated?” Ye Lin looked at Qi Ning with scorn.
Her voice was tinged with schadenfreude and contempt.
“I didn’t cheat,” Qi Ning asserted.
“How can you prove you didn’t cheat?” Ye Lin asked, her tone still dismissive.
Qi Ning shook his head, his expression downcast. “I can’t prove it, but I truly didn’t cheat.”
“So you’re not even sure if you cheated or not?” Ye Lin exclaimed loudly.
Fear flickered in Qi Ning’s eyes as he looked at Ye Lin.
For the first time, he saw his classmates as truly cruel and frightening.
At this point, nobody seemed to care whether he had actually cheated.
The students of Class 6 appeared to be indulging in a wild celebration, with him as the reluctant clown at the center of their revelry.
“I know he didn’t cheat,” Pang Yuejuan interjected, bringing a brief hush over the classroom.
But the quiet was fleeting, lasting only a few seconds.
“You know?” Ye Lin glanced at Pang Yuejuan with disdain, her voice icy. “I’m starting to suspect you’re cheating too. How can you prove he didn’t cheat?”
Qi Ning realized that Ye Lin was using the guise of righteousness to oppress those who outshone her.
His face was a portrait of sadness.
Events had spiraled far beyond what he had anticipated. Regardless of the outcome today, he knew he couldn’t remain in this class any longer.
“Mr. Wen,” Qi Ning addressed Wen Shangwei, who stood at the lectern.
“What is it?” Wen Shangwei inquired.
With a look of sorrow, Qi Ning asked, “May I transfer to your class?”
Without a second thought, Wen Shangwei nodded in agreement.
He understood Qi Ning’s predicament post-incident better than anyone.
“Alright!” Qi Ning rose to his feet and gave Wen Shangwei a deep bow. “Thank you, Mr. Wen!”
Wen Shangwei gestured dismissively, indicating there was no need for thanks.
“What’s this?” Ye Lin’s face twisted into a smug grin upon hearing Qi Ning’s request. “Are you finally ready to confess to cheating?”
Qi Ning spoke to Ye Lin with a hint of irritation, “Do you know why I decided to switch classes?”
“Why?” Ye Lin inquired, but immediately felt a twinge of regret, concerned that Qi Ning’s mood might rub off on her.
“Because now I’m not afraid to offend anyone.”
In fact, by the time Qi Ning had approached Mr. Wen about transferring classes, he had already figured out a way to clear up the cheating accusation.
“If you’re convinced I cheated, then I’ll just have to prove that I didn’t,” Qi Ning declared with unwavering confidence.
Ye Lin gave Qi Ning a scornful look. “And how do you plan to prove that? By taking the test again? If you scored perfectly the first time, you’re likely to do it again.”
“So what if you take it again? No one will believe you didn’t cheat.”
