Chapter 125: Making more sense

Mary sat in the office, She looked outside and sighed, 'It's already so late. I've gone through more paperwork and there is nothing new. Just these few guys who are suspect' She looked tired. She stood up from the desk and walked out of the barracks. As she did, She heard a loud alarm. "An attack?" She exclaimed as she watched the soldiers assemble in a hurry. She looked at the lieutenant and asked, "What happened?" 

Mary had an idea of what Might have happened but she couldn't be sure until it was confirmed. The lieutenant looked at Mary in slight worry and spoke, "It looks like the Factory has been attacked" He seemed to be afraid of Mary's words after that. He knew that there was a chance that he could be fired after the top hands heard that there was a successful infiltration in a military weapon's factory. 

Mary furrowed her eyebrows and looked at the lieutenant, "Have you found the attackers?" She didn't want anyone to suspect her so she asked as if there were many attackers. The lieutenant looked at Mary and then faced the ground, "No ma'am, it seems like it was a solo infiltration mission. They went around the factory but nothing seems to be stolen. Only the documents seem to be the things that were opened. I think it was an attack to check the files as well as the new weapons we added to the factory." He seemed to be ashamed. 

Mary shook her head and looked at the sky, "Hmm. That might be true, but I never heard about any new weapons or machines that were planned to be added to the factory. Could you brief me on them?" She smiled as she looked directly into the lieutenant's eyes. 

The lieutenant looked at Mary and nodded. He looked at the gathered up troops and ordered them to head to the factory for increased security. He then turned to Mary and smiled, "The new machines were orders we got a few weeks ago It was after the incident that the machines started to work and create the new weapons We know that it creates something but we don't know what that something is. The troops are just there to protect so only the factory owner and workers might know" He sat down on a table. 

Mary sat down in front of the lieutenant and smiled, "it seems like you were hiding a few things from me What might that incident be?" Mary's smiled looked sweet but there seemed to be something unsettling about it that made the lieutenant gulp his saliva.

He nodded and looked at the group and fiddled with his fingers, "This incident was something that only the heads and I know It seems like I was right, you were sent here for this exact incident so I don't probably need to tell you about it but just go through the details from me directly It was weird that the captain didn't ask for any details or even a report because that seemed to be obvious but I never understand what's going on in their heads." His face showed an array of emotions, from confusion to fear.

Mary nodded, seeming slightly confused herself. 'They knew about the emf but asked this lieutenant to make no reports so it wasn't an official event so it meant that it didn't have to be reported to the public The Military was trying to save face so they acted like this didn't happen at all but now that the attack was on the awakened, they pressured the general to talk and now things are starting to make sense Not asking for a report seemed to be so they could act as nothing happened at all This makes a lot of sense why the general was insistent that one of the military's members to be included in the investigation as well, He knew that I would be sent here and know about all of this but the agreement I made would prevent me from saying all of this to the awakened Meaning that it wouldn't make the military seem responsible at all and make it look like it was a surprise that their emps were used' Mary thought through the entire thing.

She seemed to realize the Military's intentions. 'Make themselves look innocent even though they knew that their emfs were stolen before and that they could have warned the awakened's about this but never did.' She sighed and listened to the lieutenant's words. 

He explained everything about the attack and Mary listened closely. 'I can't say half of this to the awakened's because of my contract but I can hint them I never liked the military but I had my own problems so I joined them Only a few more years before the contract is done, after that I'll be a free woman I'll go back to Master Zhun and join the awakened Until then, I apologize to everyone. I will have to lie about a lot more things.' Mary seemed slightly saddened but she pulled herself together. She looked at the lieutenant and smiled, "You don't need to worry, I'll take care of this. This won't affect your rank at all. These attacks seem to unrelated to take a breather and send extra troops for better security at the factory." She walked into her assigned room and jumped onto the bed.

Didn't write a chapter the day before cause I was in bed all day. I apologize for that but it was something that I didn't expect to happen. 

Essentially, I got food poisoning and was sick the entire day. Even now when I'm writing this, I'm in bed and my stomach still hurts like hell. So again, I apologize for the lack of the chapter and the -100 words in this chapter, but I need to look at my health more.
