I Can Extract Game Items

Chapter 107 Bumping Into Vice Leader

August raised his hand slightly, signaling his hesitation. "I appreciate the invite, but I've been in the game for way too long. I really need to log out and get back to the real world."

Aria frowned. "The higher-ups are going to want to thank all of us personally, Aleman. You played a vital role in clearing the dungeon so of course they'll want to thank you too."

"That can come later," August replied with a small smile. "Seriously, I've got some things to handle outside. I'll catch up with you all soon."

The others reluctantly nodded, though Lilo pouted slightly. "You better join us next time. You're the reason half this stuff worked out."

"I'll hold you to that," August replied with a soft chuckle.

With a wave, August opened his interface.

System Notification:

[ Logging Out... Please Wait... ]

---

August's vision faded to black before the familiar feeling of reality set in.

Moments later, he opened his eyes to find himself inside the high-grade gaming pod at the Phoenix Celestial Guild branch in real life.

The fruit of sin was resting by his side.

'Now, how do I hide this...' August thought briefly and something came to mind.

He summoned his game inventory interface and it appeared as usual.

August stared at the glowing panel and then pushed the fruit towards it.

With a little glitch, a system notification appeared in his line of sight.

[ Do You Wish To Keep This Item In Inventory ]

[ Yes ] × [ No ]

'It worked... Damn, I didn't expect that,' August was genuinely surprised.

Did this mean he could keep anything in here or just items he had brought from the game into reality?

Anyway now wasn't the time to think about that. He quickly picked 'yes' and the fruit vanished.

Pushing the pod's lid open, he climbed out and stretched. Despite spending nearly a week in this pod, he felt surprisingly fine. His muscles were a bit stiff, but the high-grade pod had done its job of keeping him nourished and hydrated.

"Impressive tech," he muttered, rolling his neck and shoulders to shake off the stiffness. "No wonder guilds can spend weeks in-game without issues."

Wrapping his scarf around his face as usual, August made his way toward the exit. He wasn't interested in drawing attention to himself or staying longer than necessary.

---

As he walked down the futuristic corridors of the Phoenix Celestial Guild building, he kept his head low. The interior was as extravagant as he remembered, with glowing panels and holographic displays showcasing the guild's achievements.

Just as he turned a corner, he accidentally bumped into a figure flanked by several escorts, workers, and guards. August stumbled slightly before steadying himself, lifting his gaze to see who it was.

The woman before him was strikingly beautiful, exuding an aura of authority and elegance. Her cold blue eyes matched the cascade of her long silver hair, and her pristine white suit tailored perfectly to her form.

It was Elena Frost, the vice leader of Phoenix Celestial.

Her gaze flicked to him, narrowing slightly as her guards immediately stepped forward, blocking August's path. One of them barked, "Watch where you're going!"

Elena raised a hand, silencing them. Her expression was calm, though her eyes seemed to study him carefully. "We don't have time, let's keep going."

August adjusted his scarf slightly, keeping his face hidden. "Sorry about that," he said casually, trying to brush past the encounter while Elena and the others resumed walking forward.

She didn't respond.

It seemed like they were in a hurry.

Although Elena's eyes flashed with a bit of suspicion. This man was obviously not one of her players.

A regular member of the Phoenix Celestial Guild would act a lot differently if they bumped into her but he maintained his calmness and aura of confidence.

But now wasn't the time to get into that.

Their guild had just acquired another major win in Enders Light and she had to address the players involved in this success.

Soon they arrived in a large space with multiple high-level pods.

A particular one in the center of the space was much more luxurious than the others and specially modified to look a certain way.

As she approached it, one of her assistants leaned closer to her ear and whispered something, causing her eyes to knit briefly.

"One of the players logged out already? Is he not aware that I intend to congratulate them personally?"

"He is but... He isn't a part of the Phoenix Celestial Guild. Aria made a calculated decision to ensure our win by including him and from reports, he performed spectacularly," the assistant informed her with a low tone, nearly whispering.

"Hmm? Who is this player? Why hasn't he been recruited?" She inquired.

"His in-game name is Aleman. This isn't the first time he worked with Aria to be included in a world announcement. He apparently just left the premises since he used our pod," the assistant stated.

Elena's eyes immediately flickered with a look of realization as the image of a man with a scarf obscuring his face appeared in her mind.

"Dexter, quick, go after the man who bumped into me earlier!"

Dexter immediately nodded in understanding before dashing out of the room and heading down the corridors.

He used the elevators to get down quickly and asked the surrounding players about a man who had a scarf on. They all said he just left.

Dexter ran towards the exit to look around. There was a swarm of gamers outside the building as usual which made it even more difficult to find who he was after.

Unfortunately, no matter how much he looked, he couldn't find August.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om

Even after getting through the swarm of people and looking around the streets, he was nowhere to be found.

"*sigh* Did we just miss out on recruiting a player with high potential?"

...

...

August arrived home, practically bursting through the door. The sight that greeted him immediately made him pause and smile. Sophia was curled up on the living room couch, scrolling through her phone with a look of utter boredom.

The moment she noticed him standing there, her face lit up like a Christmas tree. "August!" she exclaimed before jumping up and running to him.

"Sophia!" August opened his arms wide, catching her in a hug as she practically threw herself at him. He wrapped his arms tightly around her, lifting her slightly off the floor. For a moment, they just held each other.

"I was starting to think you were never coming back!" she said, pulling back to look at him with an emotional look.

"I saw your note that said you'd be gone for a while, or I swear I would have lost my mind. But a whole week, August? A whole week? I thought something terrible had happened!"

He scratched the back of his head sheepishly. "Yeah... about that," he started with a tone of exhaustion. "Clearing a dungeon isn't exactly a walk in the park. Turns out it's hard work, and it takes a lot of time. What I thought would take a few days ended up stretching into practically two weeks in-game."

Sophia frowned, crossing her arms. "Two weeks in a dungeon? Are you serious? What were you even doing in there for so long?"

August chuckled and gave her a small shrug. "Oh, you know, fighting off corrupted commanders, evading traps, making alliances, battling some of the strongest players in the game… the usual stuff."

She blinked at him incredulously. "You're making it sound like you went on some epic medieval quest."

"Because I did," he said with a smirk. "And let me tell you, it wasn't just for fun. There were some serious rewards. Totally worth it."

Sophia sighed, shaking her head, but there was a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips. "Well, as long as you're okay, I guess I can't be too mad."

They chatted for a while longer, with August filling her in on some of the less intense parts of his adventure. He kept certain things—like the fruit of sin and the battle with the solo player—to himself, knowing those details were better left unsaid for now.

"Alright, enough talk about your crazy game," Sophia said, standing up. "I'm making you dinner. You've been stuck in that pod for so long, you probably need real food."

"Are you saying you're cooking because you care, or because you're tired of my 'pod noodles' cooking method?" August teased, leaning back on the couch.

"Both," she replied with a grin. "And don't you dare fall asleep on that couch while I'm at it."

August chuckled and gave her a thumbs-up. "You're the best, Sophia."

"And don't you forget it," she shot back, heading to the kitchen.

The aroma of Sophia's cooking filled the apartment not long after, and August couldn't help but feel a pang of gratitude as he sat at the table. Despite everything, Sophia had held down the fort while he was away. He silently vowed to make things better for her as soon as possible.

They ate together, chatting about lighter topics.

After dinner, August yawned loudly and leaned back in his chair. "Alright, kiddo. I'm beat. I need some real sleep. Like, proper, actual sleep where I'm not plugged into anything."

Sophia nodded while standing up to gather the dishes. "Go ahead. I'll clean up here. You deserve it, big bro."

August patted her on the shoulder as he headed toward his room. "Thanks, Soph. You're a lifesaver."

"Don't mention it. And don't let me catch you back in that game before you've had at least eight hours, you hear me?"

"Yes, ma'am," August said with a mock salute before disappearing into his room.

---

As soon as he closed the door, he flopped onto his bed, letting out a long, satisfied sigh. His body felt heavy with exhaustion, but for the first time in what felt like ages, he was in his own space, disconnected from the virtual world.

"Home sweet home," he muttered before his eyes drifted shut, and he succumbed to the blissful pull of real, uninterrupted sleep.

[ System Synchronization Activated ]

[ Unlocking... ]

August was too far deep in wonderland to notice these notifications ringing in his head and the system interface that had appeared in his line of sight.
