Chapter 682 Explosions
Erend surged forward, his fiery aura flaring around him like an unstoppable inferno. His speed left streaks of flame in the air as he flew toward the cloaked figure with his destroying intent clear.
The cloaked figure, despite the dented armor from their earlier clash, remained composed.
He raised a gloved hand and the portals above him swirling violently as they expanded. The mechanical hum of Magic-infused machinery filled the air, accompanied by the glow of crimson runes.
"Now," he commanded.
The remaining seven mechanical birds from the same group as the three Erend had destroyed earlier. Their metallic wings gleamed under the sunlight and the runes etched into their reinforced frames pulsed with energy, getting ready for battle.
The portals twisted again, and new creations emerged. They were the smaller and sleeker mechanical birds. Their designs were more sinister with compact aerodynamic bodies meant for speed.
On closer inspection, their bodies bristled with tiny compartments, each housing small but potent explosive charges. The faint glow of enchanted Magic emanated from their undersides signaling the destructive power within those components.
The cloaked figure's smirk deepened beneath his mask as he watched his creations swarm into formation.
"Let's see you handle this. Those little beauties are packed with enough explosive power to turn even you into nothing but scorched remains," he muttered to himself.
Erend was undeterred. His fiery gaze remained locked on the cloaked figure even as the seven larger mechanical birds converged on him from all sides.
Their synchronized movements and precise strikes were designed to overwhelm him, but Erend moved like a force of nature and nothing can stop him.
With every swing of his burning fists or swipe of his claws, one bird after another was ripped apart in bursts of sparks and molten metal.
He spun through the air, evading their clawed strikes and retaliate back with blazing speed. His attack weren't just powerful, they were devastatingly accurate, targeting joints and weak points in their frames with an almost instinctual precision and adding fire attack to it. Even as he battling the seven larger mech birds, his sharp senses never left the new threat. He could see the birds swarming together, moving in coordinated patterns as they prepared to dive to him.
Each one glinted with danger, their explosive payloads pulsing faintly with the Magic keeping them intact.
The cloaked figure watched with anticipation, his hands clasped behind his back. "Go on," he murmured to himself. "Explode. Tear him apart."
But Erend was already calculating his next move. With a final flaming punch he obliterated the last of the larger birds, its remains scattering in glowing shards around him and falling to the ground.
He turned his full attention to the bomb-laden birds now, his eyes narrowing as his fiery aura intensified further.
"Is that the best you've got?!" Erend shout in easy tone, his voice cutting through the mechanical whirring of the fallen seven mech birds. Flames coiled tighter around his body, the heat distorting the air around him.
Without waiting for the cloaked figure to respond, Erend charged headlong toward the swarm of bomber birds without any care in the world and it makes the cloaked figure gritted his teeth.
The cloaked figure's thoughts churning as he observed Erend's unrelenting charge. Was it sheer recklessness and stupidity or its just unshakable confidence that drove this Dragonborn?
Did this primitive beast truly believe himself invincible, or was he simply too foolish to recognize danger?
The uncertainty gnawed at him, mixing anger with a creeping unease.
"He doesn't even flinch," the cloaked figure muttered under his breath, his gloved hand twitching at his side.
As Erend closed the distance, the bomber birds swarmed him from all directions, responding to their master's silent command.
Like an intricate dance, they converged on him in perfect synchronization.
In a flash, their claws extended and they latching onto him with mechanical precision. They gripped his arms, another locked onto his legs, while others clung to his back, chest, and even his head.
The cloaked figure's smirk returned beneath his mask, though it was now twisted by anger and a faint tremor of desperation.
"Yes… latch on tight," he whispered, his voice trembling with barely-contained malice. "Let's see how invincible you really are, beast!"
Erend didn't resist. He allowed the birds to attach themselves, his burning eyes still locked on the cloaked figure. His fiery aura flickered but didn't fade, as if it were waiting for him to see.
The cloaked figure's wrist flicked upward, revealing a glowing interface on his forearm. He pressed a sequence of buttons, his smirk widening into a sinister grin. "This is the end for you," he said.
With a sharp tap on the screen, the command was given.
BOOM!
BOOM!
BOOM!
…
A chain of explosions erupted around Erend, each bomber bird detonating with devastating force. Blinding flashes of heat and red flashed illuminated the sky, accompanied by a deafening roar that shook the air and the ground below.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
Flames and shockwaves radiated everywhere, consuming the space where Erend had been.
The cloaked figure shielded his eyes against the blast, his cloak whipping violently in the aftermath. The energy from the explosions sent ripples through the surrounding atmosphere, distorting the sky itself.
When the light faded and the smoke began to clear, he lowered his arm, his gaze fixed on the center of the destruction. A satisfied smirk tugged at the corner of his lips as he surveyed the scorched sky.
"There," he said, exhaling sharply. "No one could survive that."
But as the smoke dissipated, the air grew eerily still. Then, from within the fading haze, a fiery glow began to emerge.
The cloaked figure's smirk faltered, his confident posture stiffening. The glow intensified, cutting through the remaining red smoke.
Erend float unharmed, the fire around his body blazing brighter than ever. His scales shimmered with Magic, pulsating with his raw power. His gaze locked onto the cloaked figure, and his voice rang out like a thunderclap to him.
"Is that all you've got?" Erend asked with calm tone but also cold threat.
The cloaked figure's eyes widened behind his mask, a flicker of fear breaking through his anger.
"Impossible," he muttered.
Erend stepped forward, flames erupting from his body in waves.
"Your tricks are getting old, kid," Erend said. "Now it's my turn."
With a single, powerful flap of his wings, he shot toward the cloaked figure, the heat around him roaring like a storm.
