Chapter 2136: Date with Kaori and Olivia ㉕
After the leisurely boat tour of the canals, we once again held hands as we moved on. However, having spent a fair amount of time on lunch, theater, a café, and the boat tour, it was already approaching evening.
Since the date was scheduled to end with dinner, it felt like we were nearing the end.
[The sky’s still blue, but it's starting to feel like evening, isn't it? It seems like we won't have time to visit many more places, but where are we heading next, Olivia-san?]
[We're heading to a park on a hill. It's featured in tourist magazines, and apparently, you can get a panoramic view of the town bathed in the sunset.]
[Oh, that sounds nice. With so many red brick buildings, the sunset must look great against them. By the way, Olivia-san…… are you okay?]
[I can't lie to Miyama Kaito-sama, so I'll be honest…… My thoughts are a bit scattered, and I'm having trouble focusing. The act of putting your arm around me…… I think it was something I wasn't quite ready for yet.]
What kind of readiness is she talking about? Love? Anyway, Olivia-san, despite looking as calm as usual, clearly had red cheeks and seemed to still be embarrassed by the moment when I had put my arm around her earlier.
However, she wasn't in full-on praise mode, so it didn’t seem like she was panicking. It seemed like her thoughts had regained some composure.
Even though she was clearly embarrassed, the way she still held my hand tightly in a romantic hand-holding manner was endearing, almost like a little puppy, which I found cute.
[But I do understand Olivia-sama's feelings. Experiencing it yourself feels different from reading about it in romance novels and watching plays, right?][……Mizuhara Kaori-san, you seem to be pretty composed, don't you?]
[No, I'm still really embarrassed when I think about it. I'm just putting it off for now.]
[……Putting it off?]
[Yes, I definitely feel some embarrassment, but since it's such a special situation, it feels like it would be a waste not to enjoy it. So, I decided to put my shame aside for now and enjoy this precious opportunity. Later, when I get home and I'm alone, I'll remember it and wriggle around in embarrassment, so it's fine!]
[Can you really say that you're okay with that? Well, I do see some truth in your words, and maybe there’s something worth learning from your attitude.]
Indeed, Kaori-san didn’t seem to be too embarrassed and appeared rather composed…… But it seemed more like she had decided to deal with her embarrassment later and was simply being honest with herself.
Still, her quick mental shift seemed to show that Kaori-san was mentally tough. I think at this point, she might be the most composed person here, considering how embarrassing the shoulder-holding moment had been for me.
Well, if we’re to believe her words, she’ll be writhing in embarrassment later but……n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
[Well, there are probably many thoughts you have right now, but shall we hurry along? It seems like there’s not much time left if we want to catch the sunset……]
[Right. It seems like there are some fairly long stairs to the park, so we should probably hurry.]
……Stairs, stairs huh. Olivia-san mentioned earlier that it’s a "hilltop park with a panoramic view of the town", right? Looking around for anything that might fit that description…… I can see a small hill in the distance, so that's probably the place.
However, that hill…… seems pretty high. Considering it's supposed to offer a view of the whole town, I guess that height might be necessary, but climbing those stairs to that height……
[Um, Olivia-san, you mentioned there are long stairs…… Do you think you have enough stamina?]
[Miyama Kaito-sama, thank you for your concern. I can understand why you might worry about my lack of strength, but please, rest assured…… This hill is lower than the Hero’s Hill we visited before, and it’s a staircase, not a slope. Even though my strength outside the Friendship City is lacking, I believe it will be fine.]
[……Please don't push yourself too hard.]
What is this feeling? Yeah, it’s definitely lower than the Hero’s Hill, and it’s just a staircase with a handrail, so it might be easier than walking up a long slope.
But for some reason, just going with my gut feeling…… I think Olivia-san will probably get winded about halfway up.
<Afterword>
Serious-senpai : [Olivia does all her research thoroughly, but her self-assessment is a bit too optimistic, which would just end up with her self-destructing……]
What do you think?
