Chapter 996 Alpha Vs. Lucifer
[Eon's POV: ]
"Lucifer."
"Captain Alpha."
He fought Ball and defeated him even with his skill. And, even after fighting against someone that was constantly stealing his stamina and energy, he was standing fine and alright before me right now.
"I don't think talking will do either of us any good. How about we move on to the action part?"
-Swish!
It has not even been a few seconds since we came before one another and he was already attacking me with his sword… he certainly was angry.
-Clank!
But he was right about the 'talking not doing us any good' part.
As things stand right now, he was extremely pissed at me for killing Luna and sparing him of all the other people that I took down with that artifact.
He didn't like how I didn't think him as big a threat as Luna, or Hide, or even Prince Alph.
'Ezra was just as furious about that as him, but she was already dealt with by Rein so, there was no need to think about those things.'
He was here, and he was fighting against the person that had not only defeated his partner, but also dealt a devastating blow to his image by not taking him down with her.
'Welp… I can tell a lot of things from those calm eyes he had right now, but the most prominent emotion among that is the sheer curiosity about Why I would have left him, or What I was even hoping for by doing this.'
-Clank!
He was using his sword right now so I blocked him with an enchanted Arrow and fought against him with simple movements.
He was using Magic occasionally to either slow me down or to make me lose my balance and do something I wasn't supposed to.
-Booom! Boooom! Booooooom!
He used explosives as a distraction and used a unique sword technique to make cuts on vital points of my body.
-Swish! Swish! Swish!
He used a mix of wind and water magic in a way that hindered my movements at the same time as dealing more damage to my wounded body.
He was using light and earth attribute magic to block my movements as well, making me step off of my movement path, using flash bombs to distract my line of sight.
-Oooooooooooooooong!
He was even using Aether to make illusions like the headmaster, just that the complexity of spells was something as simple as any normal spells of the students here so, it was pretty easy to find its core and to destroy them with my Aura.
"What exactly do you want from this, Lucifer?"
He was trying all kinds of things.
He had his own Aura, he had his magic and he had his unique spells. He even had his skills and the magical familiar of his that only appeared when he needed him.
-Clank! Clank! Clank!
But he wasn't going to win this fight, and that much we had already announced my using Her scythe, or the sniper that I used earlier.
Zoe was the only one that can stop us here right now. She will be the only hurdle left in this race, and I'll have to somehow deal with her if I want to take the centre stage.
So…
"There's not much I want from this, Captain."
Using a bow in a close combat fight was not simple, so I used my movement skill and moved away from him, took out a magic bow from my inventory, and loaded the arrow that I had been using on it.
Captain Alpha had been anticipating this from the moment he took his first step towards me, he was expecting me to use a bow since, of course, I was an archer.
There was not much I could do with just a simple arrow. Dealing with Tia was more of a psychological thing than anything that involved strength.
Dealing with someone like him was going to be a much more difficult task then what I could have done against Tia, but not him.
-Swiiiiiiiiiish!
I needed a bow, my full Showable strength against this person.
And he knew that as well so he was expecting me to pull out my bow from the start.
"This is going to be a great experience for all of us and it will help us in the finals so, I simply want to teach my team, my classmates, and my housemates that anything can be possible on a battlefield."
-Clank! Clank! Clank!
Using the sting of the bow to tie him down since he had approached too close after deflecting the last shot, I used the arch of the bow to bind him in his place, however, that did not work and he succeeded in slicing my thigh.
But it was simply a scratch… so I got away from him, left the wound to my healing factor, and pulled my bow with the broken string.
-Swiiiiiiiiiiish!
I didn't really need a string to shoot an arrow when my target was right in front of my eyes when I was using my Aura.
There was a different way that I could shoot my arrows with. So, I used that way, materialised the Aura on the arch of the bow temporarily, and shot the bow which had appeared on the bow out of the blue.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
-Boooooom!
But, Alpha was smart.
He knew he couldn't avoid this attack like he had done with the last one so he used his skill to instantly release a spell that he had created beforehand, and created an exposed right before him.
This explosion changed his angle and right when he was going to be shot with the arrow, he moved his place, and this movement was so calculated that even after moving to the side, the arrow couldn't hit him.
"You're good."
But, that desperate attempt created an opening in his defences and that was all I needed right now.
His back was wide open when he moved to the side so, using my movement skill, I got behind him, and used the bow to hit him on the back!
"Aghhhhhh!"
And, this time I hit him as well.
Sadly…
"You're not bad either."
He endured the pain of that clash and grabbed my bow since I was so close to him at that movement and used another one of the spells that he had saved in his skill— this time, Luna's spell that froze its opponent in their place.
-Ooooooooooooong!
I was in his grasp, this was bad, he could have really gotten the upper hand at this point, thankfully, I wasn't the only one fighting this battle.
-Swiiiiiiiiish!
A shard of a great scythe came flying in our direction and right when captain Alpha was going to use his skill, it almost brushed past him.
His instincts were sharp so he avoided by a fraction of a second, or else he would have been eliminated as well.
Thankfully, he got lucky that time.
"I didn't leave you because I knew I could deal with you, Captain."
Looking at him right in his red eyes, I smiled as I released the bow that he was holding and took out an enchanted sword from my storage space.
That sword wasn't for me…
[{ "Avoid." }]
Throwing the sword to Rein's side and blocking the attack that was coming from the off side that she was not looking at, the sword that I had thrown landed in her hand.
Quin was doing good. Much better than what we had expected.
She even broke down Rein's scythe… thankfully though, we have a bunch of spares.
[{ "Thanks." }]
I didn't have to look at her to know what she needed or wanted, I was looking at all the things happening on this battlefield right now, and she was the highlighted portion of my vision.
Even without that, we knew what we needed or wanted at any moment in a battle thanks to all the training we have done together for all these years.
Putting what cannot be controlled to side, we had a solid synergy when it comes to fighting opponents that are strong.
Fighting opponents that are super strong even.
"Captain Alpha…"
He was surprised by what had just happened— by how that metal shard came at him, how he almost died at that moment, to how there was someone who could help one another in a battle even without getting involved in that fight consciously.
"I left you because of a reason I want you to find out by yours."
-Swiiiiiiiiiish!
I didn't need a bow to shoot a bow, so, right when I threw that sword at Rein, I also went ahead, picked up one of the arrows on the ground, gathered my Aura, and threw that arrow at him with my bare hands.
The force behind the thrown arrow was much greater than what I could produce with those simple bows. And, with Aura, it was nothing less lethal than a (tier-6) spell, or a 100 combination poison.
It was a strong attack, and it landed right on his head so… he was thrown three steps back with his head flicking all in the vector angle that the arrow was thrown at.
"You are amazing…"
There was still confusion in his eyes as he started vanishing from this battlefield, but he was admirable.
Even while hiding a lot of things that he could do, things that he had already shown us intentionally or unintentionally, he was an amazing man…
Sadly, this battle was never going to go in his favour ever since his team was decided.
He lost because of many factors but, the biggest one of them, was because of his lack of someone that could have his back in a battle like this one.
He was new to many things, but given a little more time… I don't know who I would be fighting against if this person was standing against me.
'I didn't want him to be an enemy.'
But, if fate takes a turn for the worst, I won't hesitate to take him on as not Lucifer… but as Axion.
And when that happens… well, I think we will have some actual fun when that happens.
'But that's not happening anytime soon, so putting that aside…'
There's still one more I have to deal with before this whole class ends.
And, this one is going to be the trickiest part, I think.
