Chapter 185 Teamwork
The sudden outburst from Lei Zhen slightly shocked Candice considering how he was always calm and composed.
After the outburst though, Lei Zhen faked a cough and apologized for his behavior.
"Sorry about that, but the situation is just kind of frustrating, to say the least. Ships from all over the world never had to experience such a problem with the import and export rising steadily." He calmly said, justifying his anger.
Meanwhile, Candice suddenly had a look of guilt as she lowered her head.
"I-I think I know the reason why the wind informed me about this." She said timidly, almost as if she was afraid of getting into trouble.
Lei Zhen raised an eyebrow in confusion.
"What are you so afraid of? Don't forget that you have saved us all from a confrontation that could ruin us?" He kindly reminded her of her great feat.
Alas, his gentle reminder seemed to have made it worse as Candice stood up from her seat and went to her knees.
"I'm sorry, Master. The telekinesis power that I used previously had caused us to deviate from the original sailing path. The ship's current mechanism was also damaged subtly and was giving you false information." Candice announced.
Lei Zhen smiled awkwardly when he finished hearing her words.
"Oh Candice, just when did you learn to joke like this? You really caught me off guard for a second there." He chuckled softly, holding a disbelieving look on his face.
However, when he realized Candice was holding an apologetic expression without any intention of getting up or laughing at his half-baked joke, his expression soon changed.
Without speaking any further, Lei Zhen stood up and rushed toward the Steering Room.
BAM!
Lei Zhen burst the door open without care and hurriedly went to check up on the radar scanner.
And as he made a closer inspection, his face turned more dreadful. The radar scanner was simply repeating the same information without any subtle changes.
To double-check things, Lei Zhen also went ahead to check the other systems, only to be dumbfounded. The other systems had a facade appearance of working properly, but when he tried to adjust them, it was unresponsive to the change.
In other words, they were now a ship without any control of the actual ship system or map to see where they are currently located at.
As Lei Zhen started laughing hysterically, Candice was behind the door and took out a small dagger.
She walked forward to Lei Zhen slowly.
Realizing someone was behind him, Lei Zhen turned around, only to see Candice handing him the dagger, and went to her knees.
Her eyes were completely shut and before Lei Zhen could comprehend her action, she began speaking.
"You can kill me now, Master. I have committed a sin and deserve death." Candice said, spreading her arms out. She was acting as if she was ready to die for her mistakes, almost like those cringe melodrama scenes.
"If this was happening to someone else, then I'm sure they would have thrown a fit or even pin the blame on someone to take it." Lei Zhen held a solemn expression and said.
He then placed the small dagger on the table. "Unfortunately, I'm not that someone, and getting angry when things are turning drastic is the most amateur move one could do. Just a loss of control of the ship system and stranded in the sea. As if that was enough to ask for your life when it won't even resolve anything."
"But we have deviated from the original sailing path because of me."
"Yes, but if you hadn't done that, then we would have all drowned in the sea, devoured by ferocious monsters that are submerged in the water."
Lei Zhen then grabbed Candice by the arms and lifted her up, patting some of the dust away on her knees.
"And you should also stop kneeling like it's some common action. The ship can still sail, so not all hope is gone. You can also communicate with the wind to gather the geographical point of our location." He calmly said.
Candice was astonished by the grace and generosity of Lei Zhen, who was still able to act calmly despite the current situation.
'The wind was correct…' She thought to herself, feeling blessed to have such a reasonable master.
"Anyway, this matter should be kept a secret so that we do not cause a commotion and panic among the crewmen. I'll take control of the steering wheel while you'll communicate with the wind to give me direction, okay?" Lei Zhen said.
Candice nodded her head.
"I'll do my best." She said resolutely.
pαndα,noνɐ1,сoМ "Good," Lei Zhen smiled briefly and went ahead to close the door, locking it at the same time. He didn't wish to have others barging in as he did nor did he wish to have others finding this out.
The situation wasn't as bad as Candice had described since only the software was down, but not the hardware.
The steering wheel portion was a hardware system, meaning it was equipped to the ship, similar to an external hard drive to a computer desktop.
Hence, Lei Zhen could still manually steer the ship to their destination without much problem given that Candice would now be the ship's new Global Positioning System (GPS).
"So which direction should I steer the ship into?" Lei Zhen asked Candice, taking the helm of the steering wheel.
"The wind told me that we have to turn toward the left side and remain on that path for 20 kilometers. Afterward, we'll have to turn to the right by 40-degree to avoid crossing the boundary lines." Candice replied.
"Noted!"
Just like that, their teamwork was impeccable as Lei Zhen followed every bit of instruction from Candice.
The sailing was smooth without a hiccup or another incident of sea monsters possibly colliding with them.
Time slowly passed by, and Lei Zhen had to temporarily put the brake on their ship when he noticed something in front of them.
"Candice, go report to Howard that there might be a shipwreck ahead of us." Lei Zhen commanded, his expression turned serious.
