Reason and emotion waged a fierce battle in Qiao Yin’s mind.
One moment reason held sway, telling her she should push him away, for he was a scoundrel.
The next emotion was in prize, telling her she can embrace him, after all, he was her man, she should do as she pleases with him.
Before she could make up her mind, his lips descended upon hers again.
Even after she had bitten his lip, he still kissed her, undeterred by pain as if a madman.
The lingering effects of alcohol began to surface, and Qiao Yin felt her brain had almost ceased functioning, only feeling dizzy and unstable.
She gradually lost herself in Lu Lingche’s scent.
The hot steam filled the bathroom, mist spreading around creating a dreamlike scene, tempting mere mortals towards indulgence, making them lose track of time.
After an indeterminate amount of time, when the steam had dispersed, Lu Lingche carried her out of the bathroom to her room.
He gently touched her flush cheek, asking softly, “Want to sleep?”
After that roundabout, sober reason had returned to Qiao Yin, and the effects of alcohol had also passed. She wanted to curse Lu Lingche, but it seemed that she had exhausted all her curses earlier.
He didn’t seem to care in the least.
Defeated, Qiao Yin wrapped herself in the blanket, “I am hungry.”
She hadn’t eaten before going to the bar and merely nibbled at popcorn and nuts there, and after all the exertions with Lu Lingche, she was too famished.
Too hungry to sleep without eating.

Lu Lingche planted a kiss on her before wandering downstairs in his robe.
Ten minutes later, he returned with a plate of steaming dumpings.
Qiao Yin sat up in her blanket, issuing orders without a hint of courtesy, “Get me a robe.”
Lu Lingche put down the plate and fetched a robe for her.
When Qiao Yin took the robe and saw the intensity in his gaze fixated on her, she blushed, “Turn around, no peeking!”
Lu Lingche smirked, yet obediently turned his gaze, “Alright, whatever you say.”
He had already seen all that was to see, and she was still fooling herself. How silly.
Seeing that he had turned away, she immediately slipped into the robe and tying the belt securely to prevent any accidental exposure.
After getting dressed, she started on the dumplings.
Lu Lingche sat beside her, watching her relish the dumplings, only then realizing how utterly famished she was.
He reached out and ruffled her hair, “Didn’t eat anything tonight?”
Qiao Yin gave a muffled sound of agreement.
“I wasn’t expecting you. I would have arranged for something to eat otherwise. No more frozen dumplings next time.”
With her cheeks full, Qiao Yin shot him a look, “There won’t be a next time!”
She would rather die than come again!
Lu Lingche merely chuckled, without any rebuttal, just saying, “Eat up, I’ll get you some water.”
Qiao Yin was slightly satisfied. At least he was mindful enough to get water.
A moment later, Lu Lingche brought up a cup of warm water. Seeing that her hands were full with the bowl and chopsticks, he fed her the water.
Qiao Yin didn’t play coy, accepting his help.
It was only after drinking that she realized it was warm honey water.
Something stirred within her.
Whenever he came back from a business dinner, she would make him a cup of warm honey water.
She didn’t expect him to remember.
After swallowing down the sweet honey water, she asked Lu Lingche, “You bought honey?”
“It’s the one you bought, it’s left over.”
“The one I bought? How long has it been, isn’t it expired?”
“Honey has a long shelf life. It doesn’t go bad. You’re such a dummy.”
There was a hint of warmth in Lu Lingche’s deep, calming voice. He pulled Qiao Yin closer to him and whispered, “Give me one to eat.”
