Chapter 159 159. Kevin Vs The Impostor.
Chapter 159 159. Kevin Vs The Impostor.
'Wait a minute, don't tell me he flew into the room?!' The impostor thought to himself incredulously.
'But that's absurd! No one should be able to fly unless he's able to use magic, and if that were the case, it would mean that he was also an awakened.'
The impostor thought to himself, but his mind was brought back to reality by Kevin's sudden question.
"Where is he?"
"W-who?"
"The one you're impersonating."
He was taken aback by Kevin's words. Why would he say such a thing? Couldn't Kevin see that he was his father?
"W-what do you mean? He asked, stuttering. "It's me, son, your father…" The impostor tried to convince Kevin as he walked a little closer to him, but the moment he did this, he felt Kevin's immense hatred wash over him right after he activated Berserker's Rage.
But the impostor was completely puzzled and didn't understand why Kevin held such an intense hatred towards him.
'What? Why?'
'Why does it feel like I will regret it if I take one more step? What did I say wrong?
"I indeed said you were impersonating someone, but I never said you were impersonating my father." The ominous aura oozing from Kevin became more sinister and menacing.
"S.h.i.t."
He instantly took two steps backwards from Kevin when he noticed his blunder and the murderous aura radiating from Kevin.
He was currently like a rat standing still in front of a huge serpent while every cell in his body screamed for him to run.
"If you tell me exactly where his body is, I will make your death a swift and painless one." Kevin said, standing up from the chair he was seated on and walking towards the impostor.
The impostor heard Kevin's words and could also see his eyes glowing with a crimson hue as he approached him.
He was surprised by the fact that Kevin knew that the real Max was dead.
But if Kevin knew this fact, didn't it mean that Kevin also knew he was working with Christopher Mormon and Ned Baratheon?
If that was the case, then it meant that Kevin was trying to get vengeance for his father's death.
Either way, the young man walking towards him was bad news and he had to get away from here as soon as possible.
The impostor turned around, hoping to escape from the room and use whatever time he could salvage to make a few calls to Christopher Mormon.
But the moment his fingers touched the doorknob, he suddenly felt a hand hold onto his shirt from behind before pulling him back and tossing him out of his room window.
The impact of his body broke the glass wall and he suddenly found himself outside the huge building.
Now he was falling straight towards the road below, with several street lights illuminating up the road while several cars made loud honking noises which filled the air.
Kevin leaped from the broken glass wall and dived straight down to catch up with the impostor before clutching his neck as they both fell.
Kevin's hands firmly clamped down around the impostor's neck. They continued to tighten around his neck by the second as they rapidly fell. When the Impostor realized that this could really be the night he breathed his last breath, the impostor's appearance morphed into that of a green-scaled lizard with hundreds of sharp pointed teeth.
A huge muscular tail extended from the caudal region of his back and he wrapped his tail around Kevin's waist.
He tightened his grip around Kevin's waist, aiming to cripple Kevin while hoping to use the time gained from doing this to free himself and escape.
But Kevin didn't relent on his grip around the impostor's neck, and this left him with no choice but to grab hold of Kevin's hands.
And just like his head and tail, his hands also transformed into sharp claws which sunk into Kevin's flesh as the impostor desperately sought a means of escape.
But Kevin activated his Cubic Fabricated Reality skill in time and they suddenly found themselves at the center of a football pitch.
Kevin released both of his hands from the impostor's neck while the latter desperately gasped for air as he took huge breaths of air into his lungs.
However, Kevin quickly grabbed its green scaly head and bashed it into the ground, creating a loud and spine-chilling sound that echoed throughout the pitch.
The strong grip of Kevin's fingers on its head cracked a bit of its skull and the impact it made with the grassy pitch completely crushed its skull while a bunch of broken teeth popped out of its mouth.
Though it might be an awakened, its specialty wasn't its strength. In fact, unlike most awakened beings, its strength was even lower than that of the weakest Cannibal.
However, the shape-shifting lizard had a few good specialties, it could heal very quickly and it was an expert in the art of stealth and camouflage, a skill most of the other awakened didn't have.
Also, unlike Brian Stark, it was a Nil, which meant it couldn't summon a cannibal.
The impact of its head meeting the ground made it fall unconscious, but it slowly began to feel its skull heal itself and Kevin didn't waste a second before smashing its head against the grassy pitch once again.
He continued to pulverize the lizard's head, however, he would wait for it to heal whenever he crushed its skull a bit too much. Then, once Kevin noticed that it had healed to some extent, he would resume pulverizing it once again.
He continued this routine until he landed a blow and it connected with the ground.
His eyes widened in surprise. He was certain the lizard was still weak.
But now, it suddenly vanished before him.
'Where did it go?' He thought.
'Teleportation?' He stood up and turned around, glancing around the football field, but he didn't find the lizard.
'No. It wasn't teleportation.'
'Then, could it be invisibility?'
Kevin activated his Demigod mode in addition to his God's Eye skill before turning around to search for the lizard once again.
Since the God's Eye skill could be used to detect demons alongside awakened who tried to blend in with everyone else, Kevin wondered if he could use it against an awakened that was capable of turning invisible, and his gaze soon fell on the lizard who was trying to run away from him.
"Found you."
