My (Monster?) Hero Life

Chapter 121: The Plunge

Chapter 121: The Plunge

'Goblin Lord?' Kace wondered, confused for a moment. 'Oh right, I have a title called that.' Kace quickly checked his stats to make sure he remembered correctly. So much time had passed since he had even seen a goblin that he had completely forgotten about it.

Seeing his hesitation, Lorget felt a spark of hope. Just like his comrade who had confirmed the one before him was a Goblin Lord, he could sense the same thing. The only problem was that Kace did not look like any Goblin he knew of. 'Something's not right with this...'

"Why should I follow you?" Kace asked as he noticed the confusion on Lorget's face. He seemed to be thinking about something, and Kace did not want him to get any funny ideas.

"Why? Why?" Lorget said incredulously, "Why else? Because of Master Shadow! Forget it! Just come with me! He will explain everything. You won't regret it!"

Truth be told, Lorget was unsure whether it actually be beneficial to Kace. Despite what his instincts were telling him, no matter how he looked at him, he just did not look like a goblin. There was a genuine possibility that Shadow would think that he was pulling some kind of trick. Maybe even kill him on the spot. Lorget did not care about all of that, though. The only thing that mattered to him was taking Kace back alive. Otherwise, it might be the end for him for failing.

Kace was unsure about what he should do. His title should ensure his safety amongst goblins and he kind of missed the little guys. It would nice to have them around again. He had no idea how the vampires would react to them, though. For all, he knew they were enemies. His relationship with the queen might become damaged if she finds out about it.

He looked at it from a few different angles. The best-case scenario would be if he could bring the goblins in as allies, while at the same time keeping everyone ignorant of their existence. It could make them a powerful card to play in emergencies.

'I think you should go with him," Sylvan's voice played in his mind. 'If anything goes wrong a few goblins will be nothing to worry about.'

Kace pondered over what Sylvan said. Sure, they could probably kill them all if shit went down. After all, goblins were not exactly well known for being strong. It was their numbers that made them terrifying. 'Ok then, let's see where this goes.'

"Fine. Just remember I'll kill you first if anything goes wrong." Kace replied to the small creature, making sure that their eyes met in the process.

Lorget felt a chill enter his body. Originally, he would have been confident if they were surrounded by the tribe. However, the look in Kace's eyes at this moment made him feel otherwise. The only question was, who was stronger? Shadow? Or the monster before him? Lorget hoped that he would not have to find out.

With an audible gulp, he motioned to Kace to follow him as he walked the room's doorway. Peering out into the corridor, he looked up and down the hallway to make sure that it was empty. 'Good, we can move. It's going to be hard with him tagging along.' Lorget thought as a cold breeze ruffled his dress.

"Let's go. I don't have all day." Kace said while standing by the window he had just opened.

Lorget turned and stared at him with wide eyes. 'Are you trying to kill me!' He panicked as he imagined the fall from this height. 'How can you think that we'll survive such a thing, huh?' This is what he wanted to say, but Kace's demeanour gave him no room to argue. With timid steps, he approached Kace. Images of him being thrown out were flashing in his mind.

He climbed up into the open window frame and looked down. Generally, he was ok with heights. That was assuming that he had something solid underneath his feet. No matter how he looked at it, he could not imagine making it down safely. There was not exactly any place to get a decent grip to climb down unseen. If it had been a viable option, he would have used this to find out which room had belonged to Kace. Instead of scurrying around in the dark, avoiding the gargoyles.

"Hold on tight," Kace said as he wrapped an arm around the goblins waist. Lifting him into a princess carry.

"This is wrong!" Lorget squealed, looking far below them. Aware that his life was completely within Kace's hands now.

"Coming from the one in a dress." Kace snorted, causing Lorget's face to flush in anger and embarrassment.

"How else was I meant to sneak in here?" Lorget complained, only to receive a scowl in return. 'Ah, fuck me. I hope you know what you're doing. I don't want to be caught dead in a dress!'

Seeing the goblin calming his nerves Kace scanned the scene below. 'This should be ok.' He thought as he watched the guards patrolling the courtyard below. 'Let's hope they don't look up here. Otherwise, I'll have a hard time explaining why I had to sneak out when I return.'

He waited until he was sure of the paths the guards would take before he took action. Lorget had once again become unsure of what was going to happen since he had been made to wait. Then, a squeal like a little girl escaped from his mouth as Kace jumped outward from the building!

'What the fuck! I thought he had a way to climb down! This is suicidal! Was there even a need to take me with you!' Lorget felt hot tears running down his face as they rushed to meet the ground.

'At least you look the part.' Kace commented in his mind as heard Lorget squeal. His eyes were fixed on a wall off to their left. Stretching out his free hand, he activated Spider Thread.

At the same time, Sophia dropped a glass of blood onto the floor of her room in shock. She rubbed her eyes in disbelief as she watched Kace swing past her window while carrying a girl in his arms. 'WHO the fuck is she!'
