Chapter 86

C86 – Someone Wanted to Buy the Medicine

During the lesson, Jiang Hao didn’t catch a wink of sleep. His gaze was fixed on Yuan Hong, worried that something might go awry.

But his anxiety soon eased.

Unbeknownst to everyone, Yuan Hong’s voice had miraculously regained its usual vigor, and his complexion had normalized too!

Yet, Yuan Hong, deeply engrossed in explaining the test papers, hadn’t noticed this transformation, and neither had anyone else.

With ten minutes left before the end of class, Yuan Hong wrapped up the test paper discussion.

“Alright, we’ve covered this set of papers. Now, if there’s anything you still don’t understand, raise your hand, and I’ll go over it again,” he announced.

After speaking, Yuan Hong grabbed his water cup and took a sip.

Suddenly, he froze, his eyes wide with astonishment.

His cold was gone!

No more sore throat, no more raspy voice, and that overwhelming weakness had vanished!

“Is this really happening?” he marveled.

In that instant, Yuan Hong’s gaze landed on Jiang Hao at the back of the room, who was fiddling with a pen.

“Jiang Hao!” he called out.

At the sound of his name, Jiang Hao hastily set his pen aside and stood up, drawing the attention of the entire class to Yuan Hong.

What came next took everyone by surprise.

Yuan Hong bowed deeply to Jiang Hao in gratitude.

“Thank you, Jiang Hao, for the cold medicine. It seems my cold has truly cleared up!”

It was only then that the class noticed the change in Yuan Hong’s voice, no longer hoarse, and his complexion, now a healthy pink—no trace of a cold in sight!

They all spun around to stare at Jiang Hao in the back row, their faces a picture of disbelief.

“No way… Seriously? Is there actually a cold medicine that works with just one pill?”

“Dude, is this legit?”

“Judging by Teacher Yuan’s condition, it seems to be the real deal!”

……

But for Liu Xuan, this turn of events was too much to bear.

He had been skeptical of Jiang Hao’s medicine, even cautioning Yuan Hong against taking it.

And now, in the blink of an eye, Yuan Hong’s cold had cleared up after taking what he was convinced was a placebo!

Liu Xuan felt as if his own face had been metaphorically slapped, resounding with a figurative smack!

His face turned beet red with embarrassment!

In that moment, Jiang Hao hadn’t anticipated Yuan Hong’s public expression of gratitude, leaving him pleasantly surprised and hastily trying to deflect the thanks.

“Teacher Yuan, there’s no need for thanks! It was nothing more than a simple gesture!”

“After all, your trust in me is the greatest thanks I could receive!”

With that, Jiang Hao glanced at Liu Xuan in the front row, who was visibly disgruntled, and couldn’t resist a jab.

“Not like some people who are like frogs at the bottom of a well, forever unaware that there are greater heights to reach and bigger skies beyond!”

As Jiang Hao’s words hung in the air, all eyes instinctively found Liu Xuan.

Aware that he was the butt of the joke, Liu Xuan wasn’t about to make a scene—he chose to feign ignorance instead.

Class soon came to an end, and as Yuan Hong departed, Jiang Hao was about to settle down for a rest at his desk when a classmate approached him.

“Zhou Tong, what’s up?”

Jiang Hao asked, curious.

Zhou Tong was another top student in their senior class, though not quite as extraordinary as Jiang Hao.

Jiang Hao knew Zhou Tong came from a well-off family—his father was the deputy director of a hospital in Tianhee City, and his mother ran a pharmaceutical company.

A true embodiment of the term ‘rich second generation.’

Yet, Zhou Tong was modest, and Jiang Hao thought well of him.

Zhou Tong looked earnestly at Jiang Hao and made his request.

“Hey, Jiang Hao, could I buy one of your cold pills? I’ve been feeling under the weather these past few days, and with the college entrance exams coming up, I’m worried it might affect my performance.”
