Perfect Villain Life: Universal Job Change

Chapter 98

Chapter 98: The Qin Family’s Ambition

The Qin residence was bustling with activity. Cars bearing prestigious “Red” license plates—a privilege reserved for high-ranking officials—lined up at the entrance, from which stern-faced middle-aged men stepped out, each a significant figure in one of the Empire’s many departments.

They had all come to meet with the Empire’s Chancellor, Qin Ming. In the world of politics, years of effort often held less sway than a single word from Qin Ming himself.

In fact, the queue outside the Qin residence stretched down the street, and the usually unyielding officials waited quietly, even showing respect to the Qin family guards, devoid of their usual arrogance. This alone showcased the immense power held by the Qin family.

Upon learning of Qin Xian’s return, many of these officials flocked to greet him warmly. As the acknowledged heir of the Qin family, he was seen as their young master.

Qin Xian exchanged pleasantries, displaying the charm and poise of a future leader. Though young, his words carried a warmth and finesse that left them feeling both at ease and respected.

Once inside the Qin residence, the atmosphere shifted; oppressive and formidable energies seemed to rise and fall throughout. As the most influential family in the Empire, the strength of the Qin family was unmatched, with over twenty experts at level 70 or higher—half of the Empire’s elite forces alone.

Qin Xian turned to Qiu Bo. “Has Su Keqing been taken care of?”

Qiu Bo nodded respectfully. “Yes, young master. Miss Su is currently residing at the Hengqi Estate in District 7.”

Qin Xian nodded in satisfaction. “I’ll go visit her in a few days.”

“Understood, young master. I’ll inform her of your plans.”

After a short walk, Qin Xian and Qin Li reached a three-story marble building—the main house of the Qin estate, where their father, Qin Ming, both lived and worked. Entering the house, they were greeted by the servants, who bowed with reverence.

“Welcome home, young master, young lady,” they chimed in unison.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om

With a gentle smile and a nod, Qin Xian made his way with Qin Li to the second-floor study, where their father was occupied with official matters. Qin Xian knocked, and upon receiving permission, he and Qin Li entered.

Inside, Qin Ming was listening to reports from a few officials. However, upon seeing Qin Xian, the Chancellor’s stern, unyielding expression softened into a smile. With a wave, he dismissed the officials.

Qin Xian and Qin Li respectfully bowed. “Father, we’re back.”

Qin Ming’s gaze fell on Qin Li, his smile fading into indifference. “Xiao Li, leave us. I have things to discuss with your brother.”

Expressionless, Qin Li nodded. She was long accustomed to her father’s cold treatment. With a glance at Qin Xian, she turned and left.

Now alone with his son, Qin Ming rose, studying Qin Xian with a satisfied smile. “Good. It seems you’ve grown stronger during this time.”

But his face soon turned cold again. “Has Qin Li learned the truth?”

Qin Xian nodded. “The surviving descendant of the Ye family, Ye Xuan, appeared in the Broken Heaven instance and told her everything.”

Qin Ming’s expression remained impassive, but a flicker of murderous intent glinted in his eyes. “Then kill her.”

The Qin patriarch had raised Qin Li for nearly two decades, yet he suggested her death without a hint of hesitation. All his affection was reserved for Qin Xian alone.

Qin Xian shook his head. “There’s no need. I’ve bound her with a soul contract. She will never betray me or the Qin family.”

Qin Ming’s murderous gaze softened slightly. “As you wish. Do as you see fit.”

He frowned. “Ye Xuan… It seems the Ye family still has some resources.”

“We’ve been tracking the Ye family for years without any leads,” Qin Xian replied, “which suggests issues within the Civil Registry Bureau.”

The Empire’s Ministry of Civil Affairs maintained records on all citizens within the Tianqi system. Anyone connected to the system’s interface would have a presence in their registry.

Qin Ming’s face darkened as he strode over to his desk and made a quick phone call. “Isolate and investigate every official below the director level in the Ministry of Civil Affairs. Find anyone with connections to the Ye family. Understood?”

In a single call, a wave of dread filled the room. The Ministry of Civil Affairs would face an extensive purge, and heads were bound to roll.

Once he hung up, Qin Ming turned back to Qin Xian, his eyes gleaming with ambition. “The Arcane Source… You have it, don’t you?”

Qin Xian nodded, producing the Arcane Source. It hovered in midair, exuding a terrifying energy that made it seem as though countless worlds were collapsing in its eerie violet light.

Even Qin Ming, with his seasoned restraint, couldn’t help but laugh aloud in triumph. “Excellent! With the Arcane Source in our possession, the Qin family’s plan can finally proceed smoothly!”

Qin Ming placed a firm hand on Qin Xian’s shoulder, his gaze ablaze with a chilling fervor.

“Divine Revelation… it’s ours for the taking!”
