Chapter 389: Mt. Chimney’s special training Part I

Ten days later.

“Welcome back.”

Inside the Pokémon Center, Terrance transferred over Mismagius, Arcanine, and Altaria. A faint smile appeared on his face as all six of his main Pokémon were now gathered together once again.

During this time, Terrance had been moving around the regions of Mt. Chimney, Fallarbor Town, Mauville City, and Lavaridge Town, laying the foundation for the first batch of Bug-Type Pokémon for the Gym and training their abilities.

Each of the little bugs trained with Terrance for about half a month before he entrusted them to Ayan and Scarlet.

These little bugs formed the foundation of the Gym rather than being Terrance’s main force. Their responsibilities were different, so their training intensity and methods naturally differed as well.

If he were to hold them to the same rigorous training standards as Altaria or Gallade, Terrance estimated that they wouldn’t last even a week… no, perhaps not even three days.

Although Altaria and the others had also progressed step by step, Terrance could no longer afford to wait that long. Given his current identity, he had far better options available to him if he chose to use them.

On the road leading to Mt. Chimney.

A young man in sportswear walked forward slowly. By his side, a purple, nightmarish Pokémon flickered in and out of view. A vibrant butterfly perched on his shoulder, while a majestic, heat-emitting canine Pokémon strode beside him, forcing the surrounding creatures to retreat far into the distance. A green warrior followed closely, almost like a bodyguard, and in the sky above, a graceful and noble figure soared, accompanied by a small, teardrop-shaped gray creature.

This was none other than Terrance and his team.

“The Gym won’t be completed in the short term,” Terrance said. “In the meantime, I plan to conduct a new round of special training with all of you on Mt. Chimney.”

The six Pokémon listened to his words, but did not express any opinions.

After spending so much time with Terrance, they had absolute trust in him.

There were no longer any creatures on Mt. Chimney that posed a threat to Terrance. Even in D-Level Lost Regions, Terrance, having obtained Gallade and with the help of perfected “Teleport,” had complete confidence to face any challenges without fear. Mt. Chimney, which hasn’t even been classified, is nothing to worry about.

The special training here was intended to further strengthen his Pokémon.

He had a vague premonition that when establishing the Gym, he would face significant challenges.

Earlier, Terrance had caused a stir by defeating Master Phoebe, which drew a lot of skepticism. In response, he made an online statement declaring that he would accept challenges from anyone.

Although the time and place had yet to be determined, Terrance realized that once the Fallarbor Gym was established, he could make use of this commotion to push the Gym’s reputation to its peak—if done properly.

But the key was that Terrance needed to demonstrate enough strength to face the challengers.

The challengers wouldn’t be overwhelmingly strong—Terrance was confident of this. Most would likely be Trainers under the age of fifteen, though some might be slightly older. However, it was unlikely that Trainers at the level of the Elite Four or the Champion League would appear.

After all, Master Phoebe’s Pokémon that Terrance defeated wasn’t even one from her main team. Most people would understand that a Trainer at the Champion League level wouldn’t lower themselves for such trivial fame—it would be beneath their dignity and invite ridicule.

However, even so, the number of challengers at that time will definitely not be few!

By now….that statement of his seemed to have been shared hundreds of times!

It was evident how much attention Phoebe’s praise for Terrance had garnered, especially since he was Hoenn’s Top Coordinator of this year.

Since there are many challengers, Terrance will likely face more than one challenge. He must win, and win decisively. This was a rare opportunity to catapult Fallarbor Gym into prominence, which would bring enormous benefits to both Old Green House and himself!

What does a newly established Gym lack? Besides foundation, it’s fame. Once there is fame, everything else will follow.

So, during these few months’ time, Terrance needs to hurry up!

He even diverted funds that would have gone toward the Gym’s expenses, as well as covering Rina and Myu’s academy fees, and invested everything into training his Pokémon.

Food? The best! Nutritional supplements? Also the best!

“Unfortunately, when it comes to raising Pokémon, no amount of money is ever enough. Otherwise, I’d hire a few more Breeders who have expertise in various fields to assist with my Pokémon’s training.”

Terrance shook his head slightly in frustration. Forget it! I’d better just focus on organizing the training tasks.

“Altaria.”

“Alt~aria~?” Altaria, flying in the sky, descended slightly, listening to Terrance’s command.

“You… Although I’m not sure how long you can last in Dragon Dance state or to what extent you’ve comprehended Dragon Dance, I have a task for you.”

Altaria turned to look at Terrance and was met with his mischievous gaze.

“We’ll be conducting special training at Mt. Chimney for a while. You know what that means, don’t you?” Terrance said with a smile. “It means you’ll be able to see her anytime. After working so hard for so long, do you have the confidence to surpass your mother? Go prove yourself.”

With a loud and resonant cry, Altaria soared into the air, its fighting spirit rising.

“Arcanine.”

“You’re in a similar situation to Altaria. Keep using your training equipment, and during this time, aim to control Outrage. At the very least, reduce the duration of the confusion. As for the move Wild Charge, I’m confident you’ll learn it within two months,” Terrance said.

Altaria was working to deepen its understanding of Dragon Dance, striving to maintain the Dragon Dance state and subtly strengthen itself.

Arcanine, on the other hand, needed to control Outrage well and strive to minimize any adverse effects on itself during the Outrage state!

“Alright, next is Mismagius.”

Looking at Mismagius, Terrance didn’t need to think twice regarding its training: “‘Spinning World’ illusion…”

“Speaking of which, this name is a real mouthful compared to something like ‘Flash’ and ‘Darkness.’ What was I thinking back then?” Terrance muttered, scratching his headNôv(el)B\\jnn

Mismagius nodded vigorously in agreement.

Clearing his throat, Terrance suggested, “In that case, let’s go with something simpler. How about ‘Chaos’?”

Anyway, it sounded much smoother than “Spinning World.” One person and one Pokémon, instantly in sync, renamed the illusion to “Chaos.”

“You’ll keep practicing the Chaos illusion. During training, I want you to ambush the others with it at least once per day. If you succeed, they’ll face punishment. But if you fail, you’ll have to endure their wrath yourself.” Terrance glanced at the other Pokémon, noting their despairing expressions.

Training is training….but do you really have to make it so difficult for your Pokémon? And they also have to be constantly on guard against their own teammate?!

“This will test your reaction speed and crisis awareness while also strengthening your willpower!” Terrance said, assuming a serious expression.
