Chapter 462 : The War Has Begun
24 hours later.
The Clan City Leaders came out in the morning to make an announcement, which was to be heard throughout the city.
"These past few weeks, a number of malicious infiltrators have entered our city. They even seem to have gathered a great power of powerful people throughout the world, who have falsely accused our City and our sponsors of treason."
"The same people who are causing carnage throughout the City are the same people who are falsely accusing us, so this will not stand."
"From Central Mansion, I say to you: we will use all our power to respond to such threats. This is not just a local threat but a threat to all your Clans outside the City! To all your neighboring Kingdoms!"Nôv(el)B\\jnn
"As we have always done with those who have malicious thoughts against us, it is time for the City of Clans to show why it is the most feared City in this world. We will respond with an iron fist and catch all these bastards who dare to cause trouble to our city and our inhabitants."
"You people can rest easy. Central Mansion is actively working with the Academic Leaders to provide you a better place to live."
After saying all those things and without revealing anything else, the Three Leaders returned.
To those in the know, this was a tragedy. Everyone knew what kind of power the City of Clans had. Among the Vampiric and Independent Clans, perhaps only the Allen Clan would dare to threaten them, but they could not even enter a war against the City without getting hurt.
For the uninitiated, they simply thought that everything would calm down soon.
But...
Everything changed 24 hours later.
Matthew stood atop a building with two beautiful women by his side, watching the city's nightly movements.
In those moments, powerful bangs, explosions, and the like echoed through the city, lighting up the skyline in front of them.
This had to be the most 'lively' night in Clan City, and just listening to what the Leaders had said 24 hours earlier, many would have thought these were Fireworks.
A city that normally stays dark and with little movement no matter the time of day, home to countless powerful and high-ranking people, was now starting to see fireworks, but they were not the kind that many would want them to be. They were a little strange, and they were all over the place.
These fireworks were mixed with blood and debris, causing everyone who had been sleeping to wake up. Those who had not yet gone to sleep ran to the basement of their house, and those who were nearby could only wail.
The explosions became more potent from one moment to the next, and powerful people were seen on the horizon.
A night that surely should have been peaceful had now turned into a nightmare for many. Perhaps it was a reminder that, in the nearby Cities, some nights could not be quiet.
In a world where there is always darkness, those under a nightmare can never wake from it.
It is the sorry plight of a world without sunshine.
Matthew looked at what was unfolding in front of him indifferently. Today, he was not enjoying himself as he had been before. He was simply quiet.
Everything he had prepared for several days was finally exploding. His part of the plan had been done; now it was time to fan the flames within the fight and start moving to look to fight.
"Miss Emma, it's your time." He said and the beautiful woman at his side nodded.
"Isla, come with me. I will train you and explain how to be a good General." Emma said, looking at Isla from the side.
Isla looked at Matthew, who smiled at her. "You go with her; I have to find two annoying people, " he said, giving her a soft kiss on the lips before dismissing her.
Soon, both women left Matt's side, and he looked at the City of Clans again.
"There are a lot of variables tonight. 3 Academic Clans, 5 Major Clans, Leader's Mansion, and 3 Leaders... There's still the Old Leader, which I don't trust at all. But among all those, none worries me as much as that pair of twins." He opened his mouth and allowed his words to be carried by the wind until they were scattered.
Soon after, he jumped from where he stood and landed nimbly on another building, beginning to run at high speed towards the central area of the City.
As he ran in the distance, he noticed many powerful people in different city areas. 'I heard that these Clans, a few hours ago, invoked the Law of the Jungle to the City. It seems they want to go all out, so they invoke that Law as long as they ignore the city's rules.' Matthew smiled.
He had managed to manipulate them quite well so that everything went his way, but since he didn't want any surprises from a couple of powerful idiots, he decided to move the moment the war broke out.
Some debris even fell near him, and considering that the City is highly resistant, this could mean that today, those guys were indeed using all their power. None of them were holding back anymore.
It was hundreds of thousands of vampiric power colliding again and again; naturally, this would be a disaster of awesome magnitude.
Matthew soon stopped running and jumped underneath some nearby buildings, entering one of the buildings and looking towards the Central Mansion.
'The area behind the Central Mansion is the one with the huge garden where the aurora borealis has been seen to originate. That being the case, the library area must be on those sides.' He thought.
Because of how powerful the City Leaders were, Matthew hadn't been able to get very close to this place. But now that he looked at it closely, the mansion was beautiful and divided into several mansions.
But there was something strange.
'The warmth of the sun... As I expected. The Forbidden Library is in another world and must be far away from here.' The sun's heat did not spread evenly; not just anyone could feel it. Ordinary people passing by would perhaps feel that it was very hot there, but this heat did not affect vampires, so they could live with it there without any problems.
But Matthew could easily know that this was the heat of the sun because he had felt it practically all his life. Although this one felt different, a little warmer, maybe it was because it wasn't the same size as the Earth's.
But that heat wouldn't come out if there weren't something giving it off, and the Forbidden Library was supposed to be about to open, which meant that, possibly, that was what was giving off so much heat. Plus, it spread in waves, which further increased Matt's belief that it was.
That made him smile, and he wanted to enter that Mansion, but he soon frowned and looked behind him.
'Am I under attack?' He thought and suddenly felt a strange coldness on his neck, raising his guard immediately. 'Shit, too fast!' He immediately darted out the window in front of him, activating several abilities simultaneously to disappear into the darkness of the night.
Milliseconds later, a strange dagger flew by at an absurd speed.
