Chapter 1160 A Warm Home Part 2
Chapter 1160 A Warm Home Part 2
After a hot bath, Kana put on the long shirt that went down to her ankles and smiled. She wiggled her small toes that she had not seen in such a long time. She left the bathroom feeling much better than she did before. When she saw Jay, she said: "I am done."
"Alright. You should eat and rest a bit before going to sleep. Tomorrow morning, Todd's sister will be over. She will take us out to do some shopping. His family will be helping us a little to get on our feet." Jay said with a smile. He walked over, took the towel from Kana, and sat on the couch. "Come sit on the floor. I will dry your hair."
Kana pursed her lips but still did as she was told. She did not like other guys touching her in any way, but Jay seemed more like a big brother than anything. She could tell he had no meaning than to act like a parent figure to her. About a half hour went by, and Jay, who clumsily dried Kana's hair, felt very good. "We should eat. I will warm up the food." n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Okay." Kana nodded and watched as Jay walked to the kitchen area. He took out four boxes of food from the bag, one of which, when he opened it, made Kana's eyes glow! Meat! A mound of it, too! She did her best to compose herself, but the drool escaping her lips could not be hidden.
When Jay turned to look at Kana and saw her glowing eyes and drooling face, he burst out laughing. "Alright, I will hurry. It won't taste good cold." "Ah…" Kana blushed and lowered her head. After a hearty meal, Kana rubbed her ever so bulging stomach, and Jay looked at the girl who had just eaten three people's worth of food in shock. He realized his food bill would be very high! But at the same time, he was happy to see Kana eating to her heart's content. How many times had she gone without food? How many times did she get sick eating out of the trash? Hunger would make a person do pretty much anything. If she was older, she might have been on a street corner. These thoughts angered Jay. He felt Kana was a well behaved girl who deserved to be spoiled and have a princess like lifestyle. Just this thought alone fueled his determination even more to provide a better life for his new little sister. He felt he was too young to be considered her dad, so he decided to be the big brother who pampered his little sister. At night, Jay slept on the floor. He gave up the bed to Kana, who wanted to refuse but was forced to lie down and could only watch as Jay took a blanket and curled up on the floor. The next morning both Jay and Kana were awoken by a loud banging on the door. "Jay, I know you are in there! Wake up!"
Jay furrowed his brow. He slowly got up and stretched. He then looked over at Kana who was half asleep and sighed. He walked over to her first and patted her head. "Sleep more. It's Todd's sister."
"Mm…" Kana nodded before lying her head back down. She slowly fell back to sleep, ignoring the loud banging.
Jay smiled and walked to the door and opened it upright as the girl with bone hair that went down to her waist was about to knock on it again. "Todd told you that I took a kid in, but you are still banging like the world is about to end."
"I…." The girl pouted her lip and lowered her head. She realized she was a bit too anxious to see the kid. Her brother said the little girl was quite cute. She loved cute things so she hurried over here at first light.
"Alright, it's fine, come in." Jay scratched his head and made way for the depressed girl. Her name was Gina, and she was the apple of her parents' eyes. She was eighteen this year and had always been in love with Jay. She knew her parents knew and that her brother knew and that they did not care if she was to get with them since they could help her live a decent life even if the man she loved was not able to.
Gina walked in, saw the blanket on the floor, and frowned. She knew Jay would give up his bed to the kid. But when she saw the sleeping face of the young girl on the bed her eyes almost watered up. The malnourished look the girl had broke her heart. "Jay you are really a good guy."
"You say that all the time." Jay sighed. He placed his hand on top of Gina's head and said: "go sit down next to her. We have to wait until she wakes up."
"Okay." Gina nodded before walking over and gently sitting on the bed. She looked at the young girl whose eyes were closed and listened to her steady breathing. "Her name's Kana?"
"Mm…" Jay replied as he picked up his blanket. "I have no idea how long she had been out on the streets. But she no longer needs to worry about that anymore."
"My parents have said they want to pay to give you a two bedroom apartment in one of the buildings we own. It's free of charge. I know you do not like handouts, but please take it. If you want to raise the girl, then you need to put your pride aside." Gina and actually talked her father into this last night. She wanted Jay to have a better house as it was and she knew he could not afford it. At least this way he could have free rent and use the money her earned to feed himself and the kid without issue.
"Let me think on it today…."
