Ning quickly went through what new things he could gain from the shop. There was a bottle, about half a liter in volume, that was permanently filled with water. One could drink from it forever and never run out of water. But the bottle was quite flimsy from what he could see and easily destroyed.

Until Ning bought the minor Dimensional storage, he was never going to consider buying that bottle.

The hunger-relieving potion was something that gave one sustenance for 5 total days. After consuming the potion, one needed to eat nothing for that many days. It was quite a good potion if he was stuck somewhere where food was hard to get buy.

Ning ignored the gold coins option as it was useless. The random weapons, armor, and shields were of greater quality, but the randomness still made Ning hesitate when considering buying them. He had no intention of being stuck with something that was useless to him.

He could buy a weapon of his choice though, and it would most certainly be a Spear if he was to choose it. But given how he already had it, Ning had no intention of buying it.

The last one, however, was quite interesting. Scroll of Invisibility allowed one to choose upto 4 people aside from oneself to become invisible.

Alone, it allowed one to be invisible for a whole day. For each additional person beyond themselves, the time was lowered by that proportion.

With 5, one could only go invisible for a little under 5 hours. The scroll would make the 5 people completely invisible within that time, even if the people were separated.

'That's quite useful,' Ning thought. He still didn't buy it. He was going to hoard more of the points. Given how more points gave better rewards, he was going to hoard the points for a while until he could buy something good.

Ning went to sleep and woke halfway through the night. 'Ughh… this stupid body,' he thought in annoyance. He needed to go to the bathroom. He hated how this body forced him to be a normal human.

He wanted to drink the Hunger Relieving potion just so he didn't hate to go to the bathroom. He went to the bathroom and returned after a short time. As he was making his way back to his room, he heard a sound that made him stop.

He could hear sniffling from somewhere. Ning made his way toward the sound and found himself standing at the door to a small room that he recognized from his memories. Not a thing about the room had been changed.

The captain sat on the floor beside the bed, holding onto something as he silently cried. It had been such a long night and the man had yet to go to sleep.

Ning knocked on the door and the man quickly looked up, wiping away his tears. "Yes?" he asked. "What do you need?"

"Are you alright?" Ning asked the man.

"Yes, I'm fine," the man said, trying his best to appear like he wasn't crying just a moment before.

"Your daughter is watching you, you know?" Ning said.

Those words got the captain to freeze for a second. It was almost as though he had forgotten about that in his sadness.

"Is… is she still here?" he asked.

"Right beside you," Ning said. "She has her arm around your neck. She's hugging you."

"But… but how?" the man asked. "Isn't she supposed to go away once you tell me about her? I hear most Spirits leave after Spirit Detectives help them."

"They leave after their wish has been fulfilled," Ning said. "They all stay behind because there is something they regret not doing or something to need to make sure of. In your case, your daughter has watched you be sad during the final year of her life. After death, she stayed around so she could watch you stop being sad. Until the day you smile again, she won't leave."

"Is… is that so?" the man asked. "So… she wants me to smile?"

"She wants you to be happy again," Ning said. He wanted to leave at that, but there was something he believed he needed to tell the man. "There is something else you can do though."

"What?" the man asked. Nôv(el)B\\jnn

"When you return to Whitebridge next, go to the Spirit Detective hall," Ning said. "There, you should be able to find a Spirit Channeler. Request her to channel your daughter. You should be able to talk to your daughter again."

"I… I can do that?" the man asked.

"Yes," Ning said. "It should be a simple task to channel her. However, do remember, once your daughter is channeled into someone else, she will leave this world permanently."

"If I can talk to my daughter then I will go—"

"You should not make a hasty decision. Think about it some more," Ning said. "Do you want to talk to your daughter one last time and hear what she has to say? Or do you want her to leave this world, satisfied that she got to see what had been keeping you here all this time?"

"Do what you think matters more here. Your happiness or your daughter's happiness. That's a choice you'll have to make."
