Chapter 344 Rejected
After reading the contract, Crimson Heart confirmed all the contents they had discussed previously were listed.
There was zero foul play whatsoever, prompting Crimson Heart to wonder if Xu Feng was just cautious or betting on the fact that she would browse through it seriously.
After all, there were many people in the world who would never bother to read the contract clauses and terms, especially when it was a whole chunk of text.
Aside from lawyers, or bored people with nothing to do, others would typically skim through the contract and just put in their signature.
"Alright, I've written my signature." Crimson Heart pursed her lips and returned the contract to him.
Though it didn't really matter, since a system prompt appeared to both of them simultaneously, stating the contract had been listed in effect.
The contract doesn't force Crimson Heart to sell her crafted items exclusively to Xu Feng, but she must do so if the materials she used were provided by him.
Of course, there was another benefit in selling the items to Xu Feng, and it was the fact that he would purchase them above market price by 20 percent.
Additionally, if the crafted item was something amazing, a negotiation could be made in terms of the sales profit percentage to be given to her.
With the contract signed and approved by the System, Xu Feng gave a slight nod to Carmen.
Carmen crossed her arms in response and gazed at Crimson Heart.
"My Guild Leader can team up with you, but this is only applicable in the exploration. If there are any materials found, it's first come first serve." She explained the procedure.
Crimson Heart nodded, not finding it to be a surprise. Since she had only heard of the Abyssal Rift now, she merely wanted to cooperate with someone to increase her success.
And given the only players currently in Paradise Plains were Xu Feng and Carmen, she decided they were the ideal people to work with.
After all, hiring other NPCs to assist her was going to cost a fortune.
She did not have much spare money to hire a powerful NPC.
Once the discussion was concluded, Crimson Heart separated briefly to do some preparation for the journey.
By the time her presence was gone, Carmen turned to Xu Feng and questioned, "Guild Leader, are you actually participating in a Profession Competition or something else? Why does it feel like everything but a blacksmith competition?"
Xu Feng smiled bitterly in response. If possible, he also planned on doing actual forging or blacksmith-related topics.
However, Yaren's method was truly unorthodox and out of the box.
Not only was the round completely illogical and somewhat insane, there was nothing he could do. Just earlier, Yaren demonstrated part of her power, albeit very minimal. Yet even that minimal power of hers managed to render everyone helpless.
Had it not been for his strong willpower and the blessing of the baptized state, Xu Feng was positive he would have gone into a coma from the pressure exuded by Yaren.
Just at this moment, Razor and Brutus arrive in front of them.n/ô/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Boss, I've heard that you are going to the Abyssal Rift. Do you wish to hire us again?" Brutus was straightforward and blunt.
Razor coughed from the side, seemingly trying to signal Brutus to not be so direct.
Unfortunately, Brutus didn't seem to receive the signal and continued, "The Abyssal Rift is filled with countless dangers and vision is extremely terrible. You'll need an expert on the side."
Amused, Xu Feng questioned, "Are you not afraid of dying within the Abyssal Rift?"
When Yaren mentioned the location, nearly all the audience members' faces turned pale from shock and fear.
So in theory, Razor and Brutus should have been afraid as well, given they are operating in Paradise Plains and were informed of the dangers there.
"Of course, I'm afraid." Brutus honestly responded.
"But for Elder Yaren to press on the matter and…" He suddenly paused for a moment before glancing around.
After realizing no one else was watching them, he proceeded to step closer to Xu Feng and whispered, "Elder Yaren's expression was filled with confidence when assigning this task. It's like she knew you had the ability to succeed and thus, wanted you to do her work."
Hearing that, Xu Feng couldn't help but admit Brutus' perception to be spot on.
Naturally, Yaren wasn't actually some psychopathic killer who wanted to send people to their deaths.
'She must have noticed my baptized state when I was unaffected by her Frozen Field. It sure is hard being lowkey when one is that amazing.' Xu Feng sighed inwardly, unable to blame Yaren for making such a decision either.
If the situation were to reverse and Xu Feng spotted a talented player, then he would be a fool to not use them like a tool or slave to maximize his profit or goal.
What goes around comes around!
This statement really didn't become known without reason. Throughout this time, it had always been Xu Feng using others to his advantage, but now that he was on the receiving end, the situation was quite something else.
"The two of you are indeed going to be helpful, but I don't plan on hiring you." Xu Feng calmly spoke and rejected his offer. He surely didn't lack any money to hire them, but the risk was too high.
"Since I'm sure my companion here will definitely tag along with me, given Conductor Yaren never stated you can not bring any helper for the final round. My plate will be full to overwatch her, so I really can't afford to split my attention." He added, pointing at the mischievous Carmen.
"This…" Astonished, Brutus never expected his money would vanish just like that because of Carmen.
"We won't ask for much this time," Razor interjected, clearly unwilling to give up. In the meantime, he also blinked one of his eyes at Carmen, seemingly hoping that she would speak up for them.
Unfortunately, Carmen wasn't going to fall for it.
"Since the Guild Leader made the decision, there's nothing we can do." Carmen shrugged.
"You can just stay here and watch other contestants while we get going." She then dragged Xu Feng away, not giving these two a chance to pester them further.
