Chapter 512 - 512 Long live Emperor Yeoh
512 Long live Emperor Yeoh
Yeoh Jun had what most would call a playful personality. To those who went to school with him or had a personal interaction with him thought he was a goofy type of person, cheerful and bubbly. He was the kind of person who was popular with girls because he was handsome and approachable.
Most people especially in the political and upper class circles believed the Federation would collapse under his rule because he always seemed to lack any assertiveness.
When he died most of them weren’t surprised that someone’s design on him had succeeded. This really wasn’t the type of person suited to be an Emperor of a prestigious empire.
Even his father would scold him constantly for being too playful but looking at him right now the generals were frozen stiff unable to move in fear.
A tingling sensation spread down their spines as they sat paralysed. Terror thundered down on them as they stared at the person sitting down with his legs crossed at the knees.
The sound of a swivel chair being pushed away harshly echoed through the video transmission as one of the generals got up and tremblingly bowed while reciting a salutation that hadn’t been heard for years.
“Long live Emperor Yeoh... Long live the son born of fire. Please accept your humble servant’s blessings...,” she said and the rest of the men followed suit bowing before him as they spoke in harmony.
Yeoh Jun raised his head gently and all of them sat back down. He initially thought it was going to be very difficult to turn these generals back to where they were meant to be but who would have thought they would react like it was business as usual?
“My son is indeed unruly but his heart is in the right place. Treachery against the royal family is punishable by death and he was impatient having found out that those who ployed against him were still walking free. We hope you can overlook his impulsive actions. As you can see we didn’t have an opportunity to teach him well,” he said but no one dared to speak. They were afraid to. His current state right now had ‘do not provoke me’ written all over his face. His eyes were a fiery red and his aura stifling to the point of suffocating the faint at heart.
.....
“... now that we have reached a consensus... we would like to ask where your current loyalties lie. We feel that before this discussion can continue we should find out exactly where we are,” he continued to say his finger gently tapping the armrest.
Yi Zhen pressed something on his light brain and a poll appeared on their screens. The generals looked at the display with complicated expressions.
Yeoh Jun knew their thoughts exactly so he said, “As you know your Marshal disappeared for a while he was in the Republic and our son saved him. As a sign of gratitude, he will marry into our family. He is more than willing to repay the debt in this way, right former Marshal?” he said and low whispers could be heard while Yi Zhen’s eyes widened slightly.
He didn’t think this man would say that. This wasn’t discussed but knowing his son he would pack his bags as soon as asked and happily get into the sedan chair.
“This... Marshal Yi,” said one of the generals with a grey beard that was almost sweeping the floor.
“His majesty’s words are true. We stand by the royal family,” he said his voice a little shaky. He had sold his son the moment he threatened Zi Han its just that it really hadn’t sunk in yet. This was the first time he had admitted it outrightly.
Yeoh Jun quirked his lips slightly before saying, “Bare that in mind as you vote. Don’t worry it is completely anonymous.”
The generals glanced at each other before reading the options. This situation was very complicated but now it was reduced to voting against, in favour of or abstain. In less than half a minute the results came in quickly one after the other. They would have much preferred to wait until the Marshal woke up so they can hear it from his own mouth but having worked with Yi Zhen they knew he was of one mind with his son.
Yeoh Jun glanced at the results flashed on the floating screen and showed a gentle smile before his gaze returned to the video call.
“You have chosen wisely. We gave away all of our power in the past thinking this would be for the good of the people but it turns out that people gained nothing but poverty as the wealth gap grew bigger. We gave power to sewer rats and we would like to fix that mistake....,” he said before beckoning Yi Zhen over. He whispered something and the man with a half-swollen face brought out a paper and pen.
This paper wasn’t just any plane scrap paper but the kind used to issue very important orders. It had the watermark of the interplanetary defense army’s Crest establishing its authenticity. The orders had to be handwritten thus Yeoh Jun picked up the luxurious-looking fountain pen and began to write.
His order was simple. He ordered the arrest of every single prime minister with corruption charges starting with Ikeda. From the moment he pricked his finger and sealed it with his bloody print it was official.
“Your your maj majesty... the evidence of wrongdoing?” asked one of the generals his voice edged with fear.
“The evidence will be sent to your light brains and made available to the entire Starnet for all to see. They have lived in luxury for years at the expense of people and bled them to death... but we will fix that,” he said and the generals couldn’t help but shudder even when he smiled at them. Terrifying, too terrifying.
After the video call ended no one dared to slack off. They personally went to apprehend the prime ministers with the scanned edict in their secure light brains.
The arrests were well coordinated and done simultaneously not giving any of them a chance to run. While this was happening the cities descended into chaos protesting the so-called brutality of the army but before they could burn a single store the evidence was thrown in their faces and boy did that hurt.
