The Assassin's Enemy Lover

Chapter 548 - 548 "How did you know he was the one?"

548 “How did you know he was the one?”

Zi Han followed the smoke after Yi Youxi had ditched him to go get buried, whatever that meant. When he reached the pergola he found four grown men on the grill each with their own T-bone while trash talking.

Zi Han already had some thoughts. Dr Kiet’s was beyond charred and Yi Zhen’s was charred outside but bloody inside. As for grandpa Lin he seemed to know what he was doing.

The best out of all four was his grandfather’s. The man could make an exquisite ice cream cake and a T-bone was like child’s play to him.

“There he is. Here have a beer,” said grandpa Lin opening a can for him.

Yeoh Jun grabbed his son’s shoulder and said, ” For your grandpa’s sake you need to drink.”

Zi Han wanted to refuse and change to something sweet but now that his father had mentioned it he couldn’t refuse. He knew this was to get back at him for complying with his grandfather and handing him a spirit cooler.

He pursed his lips before taking a small sip. “Thank you grandpa Lin,” he said while trying his best not to scrunch his face.

“Is it good? Now drink some more,” said Yeoh Jun while tilting the bottom of the can for him.

Zi Han had on a face like ‘I am going to tattle’ as he took a long sip.

.....

Yeoh Jun smiled slyly while rubbing his back like he was saying ‘if you tell then you are a mama’s boy’.

Grandpa Lin wasn’t a novice. He could tell Zi Han was suffering thus he took a piece of butterscotch candy and said, “Here, maybe it will help.”

Zi Han smiled happily and said, “Thank you, grandpa.”

“How naive. Don’t you see he is trying to bribe you so you can vote for him later? It’s a psychology thing. You are going to feel grateful to him for going easy on you. Well too bad my grilling skills are far superior,” said Zi Feiji and grandpa Lin laughed softly while saying,

“Oh come on. Am I such a person? Though I wouldn’t mind if you vote for me.”

Zi Han raised his thumb with a sweet smile. While they were grilling Uncle Lin asked, “How did you two meet anyway?”

Zi Han sat down next to Yi Feng and the two of them looked at each other. He understood clearly what Yi Feng was trying to say and nodded slightly showing him that he understood.

“We fought,” he said.

Everyone, “...”

“And who won that fight?” asked Yeoh Jun while ruffling his son’s hair for no reason.

“I did,” he said with a toothy smile and cousin Lin called him out on his bull shit.

“... No fuckin way. You beat him... you?”

“Uh don’t mess with my Han Han he might be a little shorter but he does pack a punch,” said Zi Feiji but Yeoh Jun couldn’t believe it either.

“You must have been B rank at the time so you couldn’t have won. I know you gave him hell but I am fairly certain you lost in the end,” he said and Zi Han chuckled while saying,

“Can’t you give me this at least? Fine I lost but I got him covered in trash,” he said before dropping the butterscotch candy in the can. Now he knew where Yi Chen got the habit of carrying this flavour of candy from.

“Well, that is a win in my book. That kid is a neat freak so you definitely got him,” said grandpa Lin.

Sounds of laughter filled the air as the tantalising smell of meat wafted with the cool breeze.

“And when was it that you knew that he was the one?” asked cousin Lin genuinely curious.

“Now why would you want to know that?” asked Yi Feng and he scratched his hair while saying,

“I am curious. How do you all tell that that’s the one? Was it like a zing or something?”

Yeoh Jun touched his chest and began to act out his play. “For me, it was love at first sight,” he said with a dreamy look on his face before Zi Feiji interrupted his little romantic drama.

“More like infatuation at first sight,” said Zi Feiji and everyone got a good laugh out of it.

“For me we were friends and I honestly never thought I had a thing for him until after ah-ahem,” said Yi Feng and Doctor Kiet showed a shy smile on his face. Exclamations and laughter filled the little pergola.

“I knew on our third meeting but he was straight so I kindly let it go,” said Doctor Kiet.

Zi Han, “...”

Amidst the laughter, Zi Han asked, ” How about you Uncle Yi? When did you know she was the one?”

Yi Zhen who didn’t think he would be asked especially by Zi Han lowered his head and said, “When I first saw her I felt something strike me hard in the chest and I couldn’t breathe. I was accompanying a friend and his girlfriend on a night out and she was also doing the same. I just couldn’t stop looking at her. I told her when the evening ended that she was going to be the mother of my children and she punched me. I had to walk around with a black eye and refused to get it treated.”

The laughter was no less than when Yeoh Jun mentioned infatuated at first sight. As it died down Yeoh Jun circled back to Zi Han and asked, “When did you know?”

“I don’t know exactly but I started getting annoyed when I saw him get close to others. When I found it was jealousy. It was game over. I was done for.”

“Interesting. That brat definitely took the boil the frog slowly type of approach. He definitely listened to my advice,” said Grandpa Lin and Zi Feiji retorted,

“So it was your idea. I should have known.”

“Alright, time is up. Time to judge,” said cousin Lin while handing the contenders plates.

The four displayed their masterpieces of which two looked like they had stayed in the sauna for too long.
