The Blue Eyes

Chapter 59 - JACK THE BOOTLICKER

The sun was rising from the east when a burly man with tattoo along his right arm staggered along a deserted island. His tattooed right hand gripped his left shoulder, which still ached even though it had been more than six hours since an extremely violent kick hit his sturdy shoulder. It was the first time someone's kick made him helpless and unable to even get up immediately afterwards.

Yes, the man's figure was Jack Madris. He just returned from the city to the werewolves' base on the island. Yes, Jack was the wolf who attacked Kevin last night. Remembering it made Jack felt pain all over his body.

Last night was his second time attacking the scientist, but it was the first time he experienced the bizarre thing. It looked like he had to ask someone about Kevin.

"Jack?"

The tattoed man was about to walk toward the hut occupied by Blue, but a call from behind him made him turn his head. He found Mike's figure stared at him in confusion.

"What happened to you? Why do you look in pain?" Mike asked as he walked over to him. His eyes fixed on the young man's body.

"I'm all right, Sir," Jack replied.

"How about your job? Have you finished off the human that you said was close to Blue? That arogant girl should get punished for rejecting us," the leader spoke up again.

The questions puzzled Jack. He didn't know how to answer the question.

He wanted to tell the leader about Kevin, but he was not sure if it was the right decision. He himself didn't know what happened to the scientist. If he asked his leader about it, wouldn't that make him look stupid and incompetent? For a bootlicker like Jack, incompetence was the attitude he was least allowed to display.

After so many considerations, the young werewolf finally made up his mind. "I'm sorry, Sir," he suddenly apologized. "I tried to finish off the scientist, but it turned out that Kris was there with him. I already asked Kris to step aside and not bother me because I was on duty from you, but he still attacked me with full force. I didn't use my full strength because I was afraid that I would injure him and make you worry about him."

Great, Jack. A lie gave him two advantages; first, he still looked competent in front of the leader, and second, he managed to badmouth Kris in front of his biological father. Didn't Jack have a brilliant brain?

Sure enough, the look on Mike's face suddenly changed after hearing Jack's story. "Kris dare to oppose me?" He asked in an angry tone. "He really doesn't change! Seventeen years ago he did the same. Instead of being on our side, he was on the side of humans. He even leaked the location of our base, causing the human to ambush us. His mother was killed by the attack, but he is still doing the same stupid thing until now!"

Jack smirked slightly at Mike's angry words. He managed to anger the leader and made the old man hate his biological son even more. Wasn't he a great sycophant?

"I'll go back to town to finish off Kris and that scientist if you want, Sir," Jack volunteered.

Mike sighed, then shook his head. "No need. For now, we just need to focus on Blue. We don't have much time left. We will finish them off once Blue's power fully awakens," said the man.

Jack nodded in understanding even though he was slightly disappointed. Of course, he actually wanted to get orders to finish off Kris.

Mike seemed to have nothing to discuss with Jack, so he started walking away from the young man to return to his hut.

After Mike had gone, Jack continued his journey to the hut occupied by Blue. He would ask Blue about Kevin because Blue was very close to the young scientist. Perhaps Blue would give him a clue.

It didn't take long for the young man to arrive at Blue's humble hut. He easily opened the door to the hut, then walked into the room that resembled a bedroom. He saw Blue sitting alone on the bed. Her body, arms, and legs were still chained, so the girl couldn't move freely.

"You really eat Brother Kevin?"

That was the first thing Jack heard after he entered the girl's room.

Jack didn't immediately answer Blue's question. He continued his steps and stopped right in front of the blue-eyed girl. He closely watched Blue's face, which looked pale and messy this morning. "Didn't you sleep last night?" He asked without intending to answer the girl's question.

"Just answer my question!" Blue snapped angrily because Jack had ignored her question.

Jack sighed as he sat down next to Blue. The girl quickly moved away from the young man as if he was a dirty bacteria.

"I will answer your question, but you must answer my question first," Jack put forward conditions. Blue didn't respond, so he continued, "What kind of creature is your favorite scientist?"

Jack's strange question made Blue frown. "What do you mean?" She asked back.

"Did he research a formula or something that could change a person's form?" Jack asked back as he elaborated the previous question.

Blue was quite surprised to learn the meaning of Jack's question. "Brother Kevin is not like the old man who came to this island a week ago. He never intended to create an obscure creature like you," She replied scornfully.

Blue's sarcastic words seemed to offend Jack. Quickly, his right hand moved to choke the young girl's neck. "Watch your mouth, kid! If you can't guard your mouth, this obscure creature will kill and eat you," He threatened the girl with a cold tone.

Blue had a hard time breathing because of Jack's actions, but she still managed to smile lopsidedly and said, "You won't kill me, or you'll regret that you dared to kill the child in the prophecy. The power awakened again last night. Isn't that what you want?"

Blue's question made Jack's grip on Blue's neck loosen slowly, and he finally let go of the young girl's slender neck.

"You didn't lie to me? Your power awakened last night?" Jack asked in an enthusiastic tone.

"Why should I lie to you?" Blue asked back arrogantly. "The power aroused while I was sleeping. My eyes suddenly felt hot and I had to open them. It was then when a mysterious blue aura escaped my eyes and enveloped my body. The power tried to control me, but I kept trying to fight it. Eventually, the power sank back into my eyes."

Blue was not making it up. That was what happened last night. She was sleeping soundly when suddenly the power roused. She panicked and tried to find Jack, but she remembered that Jack was going to town at that time. She then desperately tried to control the mysterious power. The existence of chains on her body seemed to also help her to dampen the power.

After the power returned to her body, Blue immediately limped. She could not sleep anymore. She was afraid that the power would appear again. That was why she looked pale and messy this morning.

Jack was astounded to hear Blue's story.

"You used to say that you could help me control my power. How can I do that?" Blue asked when she got no response from Jack. She couldn't deny that she was afraid that the power would re-emerge and tried to control her.

Jack nodded his head in response to the young girl's question. "When I was little, it was also difficult for me to control my power, but I kept training so that the power wouldn't control me. The key is in our emotional stability as well as our strong determination to control the force. We have to be stronger than the power so that the power will not control us."

Blue listened carefully to Jack's explanation. Now, Jack looked like a teacher who was teaching his student. The girl digested Jack's explanation and concluded that it really wasn't that hard to control the power.

"You still have about three weeks to go until your strength is fully awakened. Do you want me to teach you to control it?" Jack made an offer.

Blue looked quite surprised to hear the offer made by the werewolf. "Why are you suddenly being nice to me?" She asked while narrowing her eyes.

"Who's being nice to you all of a sudden?" The werewolf asked back. "That job was given by the leader. He wants me to help you to control your power so that when the time comes, the power will not harm us."

Blue snorted loudly at Jack's answer. Of course, the tall man was only carrying out orders from his superior. If he suddenly became kind to her because of his own conscience, that would be strange and abnormal.

"I agree, but I want you to answer my question first," the girl bravely put forward one condition. "Have you really eaten Brother Kevin?"

The question made Jack let out a tired sigh. The werewolf then replied maliciously, "No, I haven't eaten him yet. One day, you will eat him yourself when you completely turn into a werewolf."
