The Chronicles of the Immortal God

Chapter 141: Reunion

Chapter 141: Reunion

No. 5’s expression was ashen when he sensed multiple Fifth Stage Undead rushing towards their spot. He realized that this was the Fang Lin’s final gambit.

Since they could not deal with him, Fang Lin just called those that can fight No. 5.

No. 5 realized that the object where that powerful aura came from must be an attractive treasure to the incoming Undead. He clicked his teeth as he stared at Fang Lin venomously. His robes swished as he disappeared. He clearly does not want to deal with that many opponents.

Even though No. 5 was gone, Fang Lin did not let his guard down. He knows that instead of outright leaving, No. 5 was just nearby, watching the proceedings. Fang Lin knew that No. 5 will wait for his chance to grab them three.

This means that Fang Lin had to make sure that No. 5 will have no way on getting near them.

Fang Lin could only hope that his back-up plan will also work on the Undead.

“Yip!” Fang Lin motioned for Mina and Bloodspear to stand behind him. The two of them complied, with no sign of disobedience. At these times, they can only rely on Fang Lin’s quick thinking to survive.

Mina managed to not pee herself as she saw the ten most powerful figures in the Forest of Death rushing towards them. She and Bloodspear could see that each one of them could easily give No. 5 a run for his money.

“Hahaha! So you three have decided to surrender now! Give the fragment back, and you may still survive!” Shi Hao’s irritating voice was once again heard by Fang Lin. Now that they held the upper hand, Shi Hao and Old Shi did not delay on asserting their presence.

“You filthy thieves! Give the stone fragment to the Wolf King!” Old Shi did not forget to praise the Undead Wolf as he demanded Fang Lin to give the fragment. “This is your last chance now!”

Old Shi and Shi Hao rubbed their hands excitedly, as they waited for the Undead to decimate Fang Lin’s group. But strangely, all the Undead present did not move or even speak at all. They just stood there, quietly staring at Fang Lin.

Old Shi started to feel that something was wrong when suddenly, the Undead Wolf started howling sadly.

“Wawooo!!!!”

Even Mina, who was the most scared of them, felt the sadness and longing contained in that howl. As for what that howl meant, she did not know.

But she did not need to guess it because the Undead Wolf suddenly spoke up.

It raised its trembling paws as it slowly approached Fang Lin. Each step that it took was calculated as if it was afraid of startling Fang Lin.

The Wolf King, who was considered to be a fierce tyrant in the Forest of Death, turned meek all of a sudden in front of Fang Lin!

“What the hell is happening?” Shi Hao looked at the other Fifth Stage Undead, and he saw that they all wore complex expressions on their faces as they looked at the Wolf King approaching Fang Lin.

The deer, who clearly was the Wolf King’s rival, was the one who answered Shi Hao’s query.

“What you see right now, was an important family reunion.”

“Family? That bastard right there was a human! He ain’t a wolf!” Shi Hao rudely retorted. “I do not know how, but it seems like even the mighty Wolf King had been easily duped by him!”

“Shut up!” Extremely potent murderous intent flooded out of the Wolf’s body when it heard Shi Hao’s statement.

“Scums like you have no right to interfere on my family matters!”

Shi Hao and Old Shi felt themselves being covered with the Death Domain that the Wolf King conjured. Old Shi sighed, knowing their mission was a bust. Now was the time for them to leave.

He decided to not use the trump card as it will just be a waste here.

Old Shi then grabbed Shi Hao’s hand as he activated a powerful teleportation talisman. They disappeared right before the death domain could bring them into oblivion.

The Wolf King did not dwell on their disappearance as it re-focused its attention on Fang Lin. Its eyes which were filled with anger and hate were now replaced by a tender loving expression.

The Wolf King then uttered the words that greatly shocked Fang Lin’s group.

“My dear son, welcome back!”

“Eh?”

Mina and Bloodspear were flabbergasted by this revelation. The Wolf King had seen Fang Lin before, and that did not end well. The Wolf King attempted to murder them, and he even sent Old Shi and Shi Hao to chase them. But now, this Undead intent of killing them called Fang Lin his son?

“How can that be...” Mina muttered to herself. She then clapped her forehead as she thought,

“This must be related to that technique that made Fang Lin look like a puppy now!”

Fang Lin was of course thinking the same thing as Mina.

With the dog aspect of the Twelve Essences Martial Arts, Fang Lin had emulated the form of a wolf pup. The aura that this form emanates was extremely similar to the Wolf King.

This must be the reason why the Wolf King thought of Fang Lin right now as its son.

As if to answer his unspoken questions, the Wolf King said,

“I know that you are a human. As for how you managed to have that aura, I do not know how. But with you having an aura similar to mine, you can now be considered to be my new son!”

The Wolf King stopped right in front of Fang Lin as it said,

“Come with me my son, I shall protect you with all my might! With me by your side, you shall be safe! Whatever you want, I can grant it. That stone fragment? You can keep it with you! Those who will try to get that will be dealt by me.”

The Wolf King desperately said these pleas as if he was enticing Fang Lin to just go with him.

“Please come home with me ...”

If it was just like that, Fang Lin would already be jumping happily, thanking the heavens for the luck brought by his wolf pup form. But his mind was preoccupied by the fact that he was the Wolf King’s ‘new’ son.

New son?

“Yip yip! (What do you mean by new son?)”

An awkward silence followed after that.

The other Undead looked away, as if what Fang Lin said was a taboo matter. The Wolf King on the other hand actually smiled as it said,

“I can explain everything my son once we are back home.” The Wolf King then stared pleadingly at Fang Lin as it said once more,

“Please come home with me!”

Fang Lin knew that this was now his chance to escape the clutches of No. 5. The Wolf King will obviously protect him from No. 5. Fang Lin thought that he could even make the Wolf King kill No. 5. Aside from this, there were other benefits that were more than the fingers of his hands and toes.

The only thing that bothered Fang Lin was his conscience.

It was obvious that the Wolf King clearly loved his previous son for it to treat Fang Lin this intensely. Fang Lin felt guilty for being the focus of that attention, since he just basically stole and copied its aura.

But whatever guilt he felt, he knew that he still had to ensure the survival of Mina and Bloodspear. Combined with the shameless mantra that Wang Hao taught him, Fang Lin already knew what to do.

“Yip yip yip yip! (I will go, but please let my two companions accompany me.)

“Of course, they will join you! As your friends, they will receive the best treatment they can get!”

“Yip!” (Thanks!)

“Anything for my son!”

Fang Lin had to hide his wince as he and his companions rode the Wolf King’s back. Its wings stretched wide as it flew, heading towards its home.

As for the other Undead, they already left, heading back to their respective territories.

“F**k!” It was all that No. 5 could say as he watched Fang Lin and co. leaving with the Wolf King.

“It seems like I need to employ the help of more ‘Punishers’! This is the only way for me to get this bastard back!”
