Chapter 156 - Anticipation
Chapter 156: Chapter 25 Anticipation
Zach had gained a lot. In addition to the “general” who could provide manpower, there were also people who buy and sell identities, and people who transport cargo. If these people were considered to be in the dark zone, then the lawyers, securities, and private investigators, such as Noor and Zach would be considered to be in the grey zone.
As for the white zone, there was a saying, if an apology was useful, why did people need police for?
Of course, these people would have their own informants and connections, just like Zach’s James, or Coulson who could peacefully talk to the “general”…
The party would last until midnight. After the twilight, it was the beginning of a different living style. The performers on the stage had changed one after another, and the special service had entered the negotiation stage. Zach looked at the beautiful women sitting next to these new ‘friends’. The next entertainment service would not be carried out in this ‘gentleman’ bar.
Zach smiled and gestured to Noor that he was leaving. Either emotionally or physically, Zach didn’t think that these women could give him something that Louise couldn’t give him. Moreover, what Zach wanted now was not such a low-level activity. The emotion he has always kept in his heart had not been relieved by James and this union-like small circle. What Zach wanted was to go back to Grande and talk to Benjamin.
Regarding Benjamin, everyone could pause here for a second and imagine this. The scene when the last “Toreador” met with “Alpha” no longer had his wolfpack on the battlefield.
The surface of the truck covered by the dust and stains was no longer reflecting the neon lights of the city. It was shrouded in night and moonlight as the truck was driven onto highway 27.
The further one traveled toward the south, the less it felt like a city. Away from the Northern District, there were no more dense buildings on both sides of the road. The solitary street lights lit up the blue-gray road and the empty fields on the side of the road. Sometimes one or two small buildings couldn’t be seen in the night outside the truck windows.
In the past, whenever Zach drove on this road, his mood always became lighter. The troublesome affairs would be like the scenery on both sides slowly moving away from him bit by bit as he drove from the north to the south. As long as he returned to the Grande House, he would return to the vampire hidden in the city.
But now, this feeling has disappeared. No matter how the surrounding scenery receded, the connection between the vampire and the city couldn’t be broken.
With a hint of anticipation, the truck controlled by Zach turned into the Grande House, but the people who had gone out had not returned yet, Zach was a little disappointed.
Those who stayed have already rested. Only the body of the Tulpa Daniel turned into a faint streamer, rotating and drifting around the Grande House.
Zach looked at the moon that slowly began to form its full shape, shook his head, and walked towards the basement. Returning to death was a great way to let go of his thoughts, but Zach hadn’t used it for a long time.
When the vampire’s heart stopped beating and blood no longer flowed, the body temperature carefully maintained by Zach gradually would merge with the ambient temperature. The vampire’s consciousness disappeared, and his life seemed to have really stopped, turning into an inanimate object of the Grande family, lying flat on a hard stone platform, like a statue.
The skin of the white statue was pressed by a huge hand at this moment; its inelastic muscles were sunken, unable to recover for a long time.
Benjamin frowned and patted the vampire’s left chest with his broad palm.
A dull sound rang in the basement, and a faint beating in the sunken breastbone appeared.
Waking up in pain was not a comfortable thing. Zach’s muddy pupils slowly became clear, and the scene in his field of vision slowly focused.
“How long are you going to sleep.” Benjamin curled his lips impatiently.
With the soft bone clicking sound, the broken chest bones were reset, and the sunken muscles regained their elasticity after the blood circulated again and slowly recovered. Zach watched Benjamin who was scratching his smooth body uncomfortably beside him.
Benjamin’s skin turned out to be very smooth and fair as well. This was the first thing Zach thought of after he regained consciousness.
“What time is it now?” Zach’s voice was still a bit hoarse, and the blood circulation hasn’t fully recovered yet. Benjamin’s tone made him feel like he had ‘slept’ for a long time.
“Monday at noon.” Benjamin frowned, lifted one leg, rolled up his trousers’ legs, and scratched the smooth calf… He regretted it a lot. Yesterday, he was convinced by Lola and had a whole body hair removal. This hairy Alpha felt very uncomfortable now. Between the skin and the clothes, he always felt that something was missing.
Zach’s face twitched stiffly, his expression still not working fully.
It was not a long ‘sleep’. Was it necessary for Benjamin to wake himself up in such a violent way?
The vampire controlled his heartbeat, and accelerated the blood flow. He reached out his hand to pick up the clothes by the stone platform and put them on slowly.
“When did you come back?” Zach looked at Benjamin who seemed to become a little smaller, and asked stiffly.
“Morning.” Benjamin twisted his body and kept pulling on his vest. Zach’s mood became inexplicably happy.
“What did you do for the whole evening.”
“Watch movies.” Benjamin frowned and carried on scratching his body uncomfortably, “Originally, we just needed to watch a movie, but Lola realized that Alice liked watching movies, so she rented the cinema for the whole night.”
Zach raised his eyebrows halfway up ridiculously, and continued to squeeze the stiff skin on his forehead with difficulty, “What movie?”
Benjamin waved his hand and replied impatiently, “The Miserable World.”
Zach nodded, “Good movie.”
“No. It’s the remake with a group of people singing endlessly.”
Zach thought about it with his brain that was still not fully functioning. This theme was far from the type of music that Benjamin liked. It was normal for Benjamin to dislike it. If it was an opera style, then it was the style he liked. Shaking his head helplessly, he decided that one day, he would go to watch it.
“Is there anything urgent?” Zach felt that it was rare for Benjamin to come to the basement. So it shouldn’t be just telling him that he had just watched movies for the whole night.
“Go make a meal. I am hungry.” Benjamin frowned and asked.
“What?” Zach’s stiff movement stopped in the air.
“Loise has gone to church, Alice is still sleeping, no one is preparing lunch.” Benjamin urged impatiently.
The blood flow that had stagnated for an instant once again began to accelerate, “What about Jim? Daniel? And Matthew?” It was impossible to rely on Old Hank.
“Jim doesn’t know how to cook. In terms of Daniel, who knows what that was.” Benjamin frowned, obviously despising Daniel’s healthy eating style, “Matthew is also still sleeping.”
Zach sighed and followed Benjamin out of the basement. When he entered the kitchen, he saw Daniel, who had formed a physical body, was processing a piece of chicken. Seeing Benjamin coming, he said with a bitter face, “I added enough butter and seasonings, do you want to try it again?”
Benjamin pushed the plate aside. Jim glanced at it. What he cared about was the taste. However, based on the observation, it obviously hasn’t met his standard, so he decided to wait.
Daniel’s enough butter was obviously not enough. The action of the Tulpa couldn’t be separated from the desires of others. Obviously, Daniel still retained the previous influence in his body. If he wanted to break through, he could only consume and absorb new desires.
As for Old Hank, he had eaten what Daniel had made for the first time and was basking in the sunlight in the courtyard at the moment. This was probably the only good thing about Old Hank.
Zach moved his body and replaced Daniel. When Daniel wanted to transform back to his phantom body in relief, he was stopped by Benjamin, “Clean up those messy desires!” The werewolf said so.
Daniel had no choice but to keep the entity. Excluding the vague third category in the classification of nonhumans, the nonhumans in the first category had inherent advantages over the nonhumans in the second category.
The Grande family’s Kitchen started to get busy. Although Zach was not as good as Alice, he was much better than Daniel. The vampire made the steak he learned from watching ‘Cook’s Kitchen’ yesterday on a whim, and then tried a little. It was not bad, in terms of human food.
After solving Benjamin’s problem, Zach took out his food and looked at the really hungry werewolf, “Do you want to know what I did yesterday?”
Benjamin said while dealing with his food, “We can’t talk about it later. When I went to pick up Matthew from the Gospel Church yesterday, the priest said something.”
Zach raised his eyebrows and listened. Thinking for a while, he said, “You have told Matthew that my blood can heal everything. If he really didn’t want his father to have any contact with the demon, he would raise it. ”
Benjamin frowned. “He treats you as his boss, so he won’t mention it.”
Zach nodded. Matthew was indeed such a person, but Joseph going to church was related to belief. No matter what they did, what would happen would still happen. Crowlie wouldn’t do anything outrageous to Joseph, and as long as this was confirmed, there was nothing to worry about.
“Then you will definitely like what I want to say.” Zach smiled and sipped the liquid in the glass and began to talk about his trip to prison.
Although saying that prisoners in prison would definitely go to hell was a very prejudiced statement, just like James’ prejudice against nonhumans, was a possibility that they would go to heaven? No, there would not be any. In order to maintain the faith, the angels of heaven would not allow this to happen. After all, such rules were set by the believers; the good would ascend and the bad would fall down.
The superiority of the first category of nonhumans over the second category of nonhumans was not without reason, because no matter how powerful they were, they were always bound by the thoughts of weak humans.
So not surprisingly, the only destination for these people was hell. Of course, the premise was that it was in the Federation, and the main faith was the Holy Lord.
And what Zach did yesterday was arranged by Anthony. These souls that would inevitably go to Crowlie were now in the hands of the Grande family.
Let us face the cruel reality. First, the belief of the prisoners would not be firm because of the fixed weekly church service in the prison, so when judging the soul’s belonging, this process would not be short. Second, how long do you think the funeral of prisoners would be delayed? Obviously, after spending a few hours or even less time to arrange, the prisoner would be sent directly to the funeral home.
And Zach has fixed the end of this process with cremation. If Crowlie didn’t want to lose her business, which was already in a very miserable status, she better hurry up and make a new agreement with Zach!
Zach looked forward to the new negotiation, in which he would have the upper hand.
