Chapter 135 - A Conversation Between Grandfather and Grandson

Chapter 135: A Conversation Between Grandfather and Grandson

“Yanyan is not willing to come back yet. Jinqi, you know Lin Feng. We…” Before Huo Jun could finish his sentence, Huo Jinqi interrupted him.

“Dad, Lin Feng broke off ties with me.”

“What?”

“This…” Huo Jinqi rubbed his eyebrows tiredly. “I’ll talk to you all about it some other time.

“Anyways, just don’t make Yanyan annoyed right now.”

Huo Jinyuan hadn’t said anything throughout. He then smiled bitterly. “Why do I feel like it’s best for Yanyan if we just don’t disturb her at all?”

All of them fell into silence at his words.

Huo Chulan, who was outside, did not enter. She turned around and left.

“What’s going on with you lately?”

At the Lu residence, Old Master Lu sat on the sofa and looked at Lu Zhichen across him sternly.

Lu Zhichen lowered his eyes. “What do you mean?” He looked up. “I don’t understand what Grandpa is saying.”

“Don’t act confused with me. You know what you’ve been doing these days.”

“I’m really not sure.” Lu Zhichen was still acting a little innocent.

“You’ve been hooking up with a young girl these past two days. Don’t think I don’t know.” The Old Master glared at him. “Compared to me, you’re still young.”

Lu Zhichen held his forehead. “Grandpa, what do you mean by hooking up?”

He said slowly, “I’m just trying to build a relationship with my fiancée.”

“You were so firm when you said you would break off the engagement. Don’t regret it if you had the guts to do it,” Old Master mocked.

“Actually, speaking of this…” Lu Zhichen suddenly said seriously, “Grandpa, this is your fault.”

“My fault?” The Old Master was surprised.

“What are you blaming me for?” Old Master looked at him, curious to see what Lu Zhichen would say.

“You didn’t tell me that my little fiancée was Jiuan. How could I have known?

“I didn’t even think Jiuan would remember the engagement. You didn’t say anything either, so I thought you’d found someone else for me. How could I have agreed if that’s the case?”

Lu Zhichen sounded confident.

The Old Master laughed.

“So you’re blaming me now?”

Lu Zhichen was not nervous at all. “Look, you’re admitting to it, right?”

“It’s still your fault.”

“Of course, I was wrong too.”

Lu Zhichen nodded. “Grandpa, don’t worry about me so much. If you have time, why don’t you help me think of some ideas? What do you think?”

“I don’t see why I should.” The Old Master’s face was cold.

“She doesn’t want you. Do you think I can’t tell?

“You are the one who’s pestering her to stay by her side. She can’t chase you away even if she tried. She’s probably too embarrassed to hit you.”

Lu Zhichen was speechless.

He did not know if he should feel sorry for himself or be thankful that his skin was still thick.

At least the young lady was starting to accept him!

“But you didn’t let me go back at that time.”

Lu Zhichen said seriously, “If I had always been with Jiuan, why would this even happen?”

The old man sighed when he mentioned this.

“Apart from the reason I still can’t tell you right now, there is another reason why I didn’t let you go back then.”

Lu Zhichen had asked the Old Master many times, but he had never said anything. When he realized there was no hope in getting an answer from him, he’d stopped asking.

That address was both familiar and unfamiliar to him, but he had not set foot in it since he left years ago.
