Chapter 13 - Young Ghost Controller! Red-Dress Tongtong's Ghost Eye!
Chapter 13: Young Ghost Controller! Red-Dress Tongtong’s Ghost Eye!
“Is this the Grain Town?” Early the next morning, Lin Feng arrived at the Grain Town.
This place was already several kilometers away from the Liucheng Base City.
There were quite a few people in Grain Town.
And there were even some strong-looking ghost controllers stationed here.
“Strange, why don’t these ghost controllers deal with that starving ghost themselves?” Lin Feng wondered.
“Are you the ghost controller here to investigate the grain shortage? So young? Can you handle it?” Seeing Lin Feng, a stationed ghost controller showed a doubtful expression.
Lin Feng said, “Of course I can.”
The ghost controller said, “Since you’re so confident, go ahead. Follow this path uphill, there’s a cave where the grain is stored. That guy is hard to find, so you’ll probably need to stay inside for a few days. Our ghost spirits aren’t good at finding sneaky ghosts like that, and we can’t leave Grain Town for long, so we have to leave it to you.”
“The grain is stored on the mountain?” Lin Feng asked.
The ghost controller replied, “Of course, this is in case Grain Town falls. The people here can hide in the cave. It’s very hidden, but there are gray flags along the way. Just follow them.”
“Okay.” Lin Feng didn’t waste any words and set off on the path.
He understood why the ghost controllers didn’t handle it themselves — apparently, the starving ghost was too good at hiding.
These ghost controllers found it too troublesome.
—
“This kid is only about fifteen or sixteen, right? And he’s going to deal with a dangerous-grade starving ghost? Chief, do you think he can do it?”
As soon as Lin Feng left, a few ghost controllers gathered, watching his back.
“Whether he can or not, it’s his choice. Every year, over a hundred ghost controllers die in Liucheng Base City, and during major ghost tides, the casualties even reach thousands. If he wants to die, there’s nothing we can do,” the leading ghost controller said seriously.
—
Under the watchful eyes of these ghost controllers, Lin Feng quickly disappeared into the mountains.
On the small mountain path, there were indeed gray flags appearing now and then.
Lin Feng checked the time — it was 10 a.m., but the sky was still gray and overcast.
It seemed like the only place with sunlight was the inner city of Liucheng Base City.
However, after climbing up the mountain, Lin Feng saw a patch of land where some sunlight, though not very bright, was shining down on large fields of rice.
“If you want sunlight to appear… it probably requires some methods and techniques.” Lin Feng thought.
The wilderness in this world wasn’t too affected. The vegetation was even denser. Around noon, the sunlight would briefly break through, shining for about half an hour.
This time was also called “safe time” by ghost controllers.
Of course, it was only relatively safe.
Because some ghosts, when they appear, could block sunlight, and it’s said that some ghosts could even show up under the sun.
—
After admiring the natural scenery for a while, Lin Feng continued upwards.
Ten minutes later, Lin Feng found the location.
It was indeed a hidden cave.
The entrance was small, but the inside was spacious.
If Grain Town fell, sealing the cave entrance with a gold-painted door and brushing the outside with gold paint would make it relatively safe.
Although some ghosts could pass through the rocks, they wouldn’t go in unless they sensed the presence of living people inside.
There were two middle-aged men guarding the cave entrance.
“Sir, are you here to deal with that ghost?” seeing Lin Feng’s ID tag and his well-dressed appearance, the two middle-aged men asked cautiously.
Lin Feng nodded and asked, “Aren’t you afraid of being here?”
One of the middle-aged men replied, “Of course we’re afraid, but orders are orders, so we have no choice. But that ghost doesn’t seem to harm people. It just keeps eating the grain. Even if we go in, the grain keeps disappearing. Unless the officials come, it won’t show up.”
“Why not move the grain?” Lin Feng asked.
“The mayor said that if we move the grain, it might go to another warehouse. It’s better to keep it here and eliminate it,” the middle-aged man replied.
Lin Feng hummed in acknowledgment, “Let me go in and take a look.”
“Alright, we’ll open the door for you.” The two middle-aged men opened the cave door.
—
Lin Feng walked in.
The cave was dry.
There were quite a few aluminum grain storage bins inside, all filled with grain.
However, several of them were empty.
“It’s only been a week, and it’s eaten thousands of pounds of grain,” the two middle-aged men, who followed behind, said with distress.
Lin Feng walked and observed.
The starving ghost hadn’t shown itself, and there was no sign of its presence.
After a while, Lin Feng took out the butterfly ribbon.
“Tongtong,” Lin Feng called out.
Tongtong appeared!
The temperature in the cave instantly dropped several degrees.
The two middle-aged men involuntarily took a few steps back in fear, their faces turning slightly pale.
“Tongtong, can you find it?”
The advantage of a high bond was that Tongtong should be able to understand some of Lin Feng’s words.
Unlike other ghost spirits, who often only come out when the ghost controller is in danger.
Tongtong stood there, staring at the cave.
Then, she moved.
She turned around and looked outside the cave.
“Is it outside?” Lin Feng asked.
Tongtong didn’t answer Lin Feng’s question. In fact, it was still unclear if she could speak. However, she quickly reacted.
Her white dress began to turn red.
—
Seeing this, the two middle-aged men felt their mouths go dry. Even knowing that Tongtong was Lin Feng’s ghost spirit, they couldn’t help but feel afraid.
Soon, Red-Dress Tongtong appeared.
Then, something changed on her forehead.
There…
It split open.
A black ghost eye appeared.
When they saw this ghost eye, the two middle-aged men began trembling.
“Huh, when did Tongtong get a third ghost eye?” Lin Feng wondered.
The next second, something unexpected happened.
Tongtong raised her hand and pointed at one of the middle-aged men.
A strange ghostly cry came from that man’s pocket!
Wow!
The starving ghost was actually hiding in his pocket!
