Chapter 136: Battle of the Long Night (11)

Chapter 136: Battle of the Long Night (11)

Aiden's startled eyes meet Liliana's in confusion.

"Th-that's, I..."

Aiden didn't know what to answer. It was too sudden. Plus, everything that happened at that time made it difficult for him to think of anything other than the fight.

At Aiden's confused response, Liliana smiled mellowly. "I am sorry. That was a strange request. You can forget about that."

After saying her last words, Liliana tightly grasped her axesword. Then she drew the axesword back.

At that stance, Liliana muttered something.

"[Divine Arts Firestorm]"

Aiden didn't hear that wrong. That Arts is built in one word, but there are two elements in it.

After the spell, Liliana's axesword enveloped in a strong wind. The strong wind attracted all the flames in the surrounding.

It created a huge fire whirlwind.

The whirlwind fire is hotter than William's fireball. Aiden forced to step back because he could not endure the heat of the Arts.

"Mistress!"

He stepped back, but he worried about the deputy administrator's condition.

Arts that hot is indeed so strong, but they would also inflict damage on the caster.

Aiden, who is a Flame Arts user, couldn't endure such a high temperature.

However, the woman knight in front of him did not care with such thing. To save her home and family, she will give all her strength.

"I have felt countless misery. I have seen hundreds of my comrades died in battlefield. But one thing that I can't accept, is the death of people who don't deserve death!"

Liliana's firestorm is getting bigger and hotter.

Aiden had to protect himself with [Three Scales] to avoid getting hurt.

Liliana's firestorm provided a very bright light. Those in the west seemed to see the sun rise even though the morning is still long.

"What the heck happened?!" "It's getting hotter than before!"

"Is that Aiden's work?"

Harry, Henry, and Kane couldn't bear the heat.

Outside of the east city wall, Jade stopped her party, confused. "What is going on?"

Liliana's firestorm absorbed all the flames around, combining all of them into one that enveloped Liana and her axesword.

"May the flames burn my body. But my soul will turn it into an enormous attack that will protect my family!"

The Firestorm focused on Liliana's hand and the axesword. With the intention and spirit burning in great flames, a fierce attack is launched.

"[Soaring Vigorous Firebird]!"

Liliana swung her axesword vigorously forward, blowing out entire flames. The huge flames shot forward and began to form the shape of a bird.

The big firebirds begin to fly forwards then sliding into the sky.

"Oooooo!" "My gaaaaaad!"

Had passed a group of terrified Sword Disciples.

The Vigorous Firebird flew into the sky at a low speed.

No, it is only seen flying at a low speed, that is because its body is so large that it could envelope the cathedral's barrier.

Due to its gigantic body, the Vigorous Firebirds flew around the sky at the cathedral's barrier. Like a planet orbiting a star.

Even though it only passed, the Vigorous Firebird managed to sweep away all the Harpies. Leaving none.

Even the boss bird monster, the Deadly Vulture, had to fly away to avoid the deadly blazing creature.

Meanwhile, in what used to be the Stairs of Serenity, Jared rose after successfully regenerating his body.

"Goddamnit!"

At first, he didn't know what was going on.

"What the, fuck?"

When he looked up and there is a giant fire bird sweeping over his Harpies, he gaped.

After its task completed, the Vigorous Firebird disintegrated into tiny shards of energy, Abyssal Mana.

Aiden couldn't believe that there is an attack capable of wiping out the Harpies in one strike.

But unfortunately, it has a high price to pay.

"Mistress!"

Aiden quickly dashed forward, to catch the fallen deputy administrator.

The Deputy Administrator's body is very hot. Her hands, feet, and neck had awfully burns.

"Mistress!"

Aiden tried to called her, but no answer. Looks like she's unconscious, or...

"No-no!"

Aiden brought his mind closer to the Deputy Administrator's nose.

There is no sound he could hear.

"Hey!" "Aiden!"

Harry, Henry, and Kane run to their colleague who hugged the Deputy Administrator.

They arrived and found that the Deputy Administrator, their Female Head Teacher's condition is very bad.

However, their friend that hugged the Mistress, fell silent with his face down.

The three of them started to feel scared somehow.

"Aiden?"

Then suddenly, Aiden started to shed tears, crying.

Aiden's silent cry certainly only told one thing.

"H-hey, don't tell..." "The Mistress is..."

Of course they don't want to believe that this is really happening.

The Female Head Teacher who often scolded them when they being naughty and gave them advice when they are stuck with their training. The fierce but actually kind and can be gentle at times.

At that time, she closes her eyes, that most likely will never open them again.

Aiden started to sobbedly cry. The twins couldn't hold their tears as well.

Kane didn't have sensitive feelings like his three colleagues, but of course he felt a pain in his heart. There he looks at the cathedral.

The ground that sustain it became like a cliff inside a canyon.

If the cliff got dropped a few more bombs, maybe the cliff would collapse, and the Cathedral would fall into the canyon.

That can be stopped because of the heroic sacrifice made of the Deputy Administrator. Unfortunately, that sacrifice took the Deputy's life.

Since the attack stopped, everyone calmed down. They are grateful that the terrorists plan didn't happen and caused them in danger.

_____________

"The contract has been fulfilled. Just like I said, I will only move when I think I need to. Besides that, it's all up to them."

_____________

Just as everyone thought that the attacks had stopped, a bomb attacked the Cathedral once again.

"What the?! Weren't the Harpies annihilated?!"

Jade looked further ahead and found that someone fired dark mana balls into the Cathedral. That is the Right Hand of the Demon King Commander.

"Damn you!"

She quickly ran again to stop the villain. Then thought, that she won't have time.

"Archers! Shoot him dead!"

Her Archers subordinates firing the villain. But somehow, they couldn't kill him.

"Dammit!"

Not wanting to wait, she sped up. Hope she will be on time.

_____________

"Die! Die! Die! Die! Die!"

Jared fires multiple dark mana balls at the cathedral. His mission is to bring down the building. If that is not carried out, the next plan will not be carried out. And he will be punished.

"Die! "

Then suddenly, while he still focused, a sword pierced his face to his head. He didn't die, but the sword emit mana that kept him from moving.

"What-the-fuck, with-this-sword?!"

He couldn't see the shape of the sword. The only thing he could feel is that the blade is extremely hot, like it had just been hammered and still had an extremely high temperature.

"Fuuuuuucckk?! Why does everyone keep getting in my way?!"

____________

Harry and Henry run to the Stairs of Serenity to see the situation.

Kane couldn't see anything from their position at that time. So he couldn't do anything but accompany his colleagues.

"..lease help."

Suddenly he heard his colleagues muttered something.

"Please, help."

Aiden whispered that with great sorrow.

The four of them had a slightly special relationship with the Deputy. But it seems, that brief battle has connected Aiden and the Deputy in deeper bound.

That is proven because Aiden kept shedding tears of sorrow. He didn't seem willing to lose the Deputy.

Then suddenly, there was a sword that fell and stuck right in front of them. In an instant, someone appeared with wielding the sword, just like he had just teleported, the man moved to their position.

At the beginning Kane couldn't believe who the man is. The man is like someone he knew, but had a slightly different appearance and face.

The man walked to Aiden, then looking at the Deputy.

"Let her go."

Kane glared. The man had the same tone as, their Sword Master, but that his words is colder, and, what did he just say? Let her go?

He told Aiden to let the deputy go?

"Yeah, so I can bring her to a doctor."

"What?"

Kane couldn't believe what the man was saying.

"Wait, isn't she already, dead?" asked Kane, doubly.

The Deputy doesn't move and doesn't open her eyes.

"But that doesn't mean she is dead. If you can't feel her breath, it's because her temperature is so high. It made her breath no different from the hot air emanating from her body. She's alive, but dying. However, If you want to cry over her death, I can leave here."

"Please!"

Just when the man intend to turn back, Aiden called the man, he stand up while carrying the Deputy, and with his head bowing hardly.

"Please save her! I beg you!"

Aiden did not want to miss that chance. After all, what idiot would cry for the woman he loved while she could still be saved.

In the opposite, the man, face Aiden in pity.

"This is natural. Because you can't train your heart not to cry in this situation. But before you cry, better to check if you can save the person or not."

The man gently takes the Deputy from Aiden.

"Then when you've confirmed her death. Then you can cry about it."

After that, the man suddenly turned his eyes to Kane.

Kane of course, shocked because of disbelief.

"That is the final lesson for the four of you."

After giving his final words, the man blinked, teleported again to somewhere.

Leaving Aiden and Kane in contemplation.
