Chapter 1041: Chapter 1042:You Before Me

When Gu Yang came out of the washroom, she found Feng Jue waiting just outside.
She glanced at him and walked past, heading out of the hospital. The rain had stopped, but the ground was still slick with water.
The uneven cement outside the hospital had puddles, and Gu Yang deliberately stepped in them as she walked. Feng Jue followed closely behind.
“Sister, don’t listen to Shen Qin.”
Gu Yang continued splashing through the water, the sound soothing her mood, but she didn’t look back. “What if she’s right?”
“She’s not.” Feng Jue’s voice was firm, almost defiant.
Gu Yang paused and turned to face him. This beautiful young man, a head taller than her, stood there, his dark eyes reflecting the distant lights.
Feng Jue stopped as well, standing in front of her, unwavering.
Gu Yang gently touched his fair face, gazing at him quietly. “Feng Jue, if I wasn’t Wuyang, would you still like me?”
Feng Jue’s dark eyes, deep and resolute, held their usual stubbornness. “Sister is Sister. It has always been you. Even if you hypnotized me a thousand times, my answer would never change.”
For him, Shen Qin’s hypothesis didn’t even exist.
But Gu Yang wasn’t satisfied with his answer. She seemed fixated on an impossible question. “Then, if you had to choose between me—who was once Wuyang—and the me standing in front of you now, who would you choose?”
Feng Jue hesitated. “…”
He always considered himself pretty jealous, but he hadn’t expected his sister to be even more jealous—of herself?
“Do I have to choose?”
This was a difficult question for him. After all, to him, both were the same person.
Gu Yang, with a hint of childish stubbornness, insisted, “Yes, you must choose.”
Feng Jue cautiously asked, “Can I choose both?”
His sister was jealous of herself because she didn’t have those past memories. But if he chose now just to make her happy, wouldn’t she hold it against him when she got her memories back?
Gu Yang demanded fiercely, “No, choose one!”
Feng Jue realized he was trapped, no matter the answer.
“Hurry up—” Her words were cut off as her eyes widened in surprise.
Feng Jue had pulled her close, his arms wrapped around her slender waist as he leaned in to kiss her.
He closed his eyes, his long lashes brushing softly, as he deepened the kiss again and again. He held her tightly, refusing to let go, enveloping her in his grasp, leaving her no room to escape.
Pressed against him, Gu Yang could feel his heartbeat, their breaths mingling in the quiet of the autumn night.
Feng Jue gently held her face, his voice soft but resolute. “Sister, I like you. Now, in the past, in the future. As long as it’s you, the person standing in front of me at this moment.”
From a distance, Gu Jin and Cao Cuo saw the scene and quietly looked away.
Though neither of them liked Feng Jue much, as long as he could make their sister happy, he had his uses.
Cao Cuo turned to Shen Qin. “You said you saw the old Yangyang. Where is she?”
“It’s on the street outside the capital’s auction, after it ended,” Shen Qin said, suddenly looking at Gu Jin. “There should be surveillance cameras on that road. Gu Jin, you know hacking, right? You can check the footage and find it.”
In truth, Shen Qin wasn’t entirely sure if what she had seen in the dim crowd was real.
Gu Jin’s eyes darkened, thoughtful. After a moment, she pulled up the surveillance footage from the auction’s vicinity.
Shen Qin watched intently. When the footage showed her chasing after someone, she shouted, “Stop!”
Gu Jin paused the video with a slight flick of her fingers. Shen Qin grabbed the phone, took a screenshot, and zoomed in, pointing excitedly at a faint yet beautiful face in the crowd.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
“That’s it! It’s her! I wasn’t mistaken—it’s Yangyang! Gu Jin, I know you think Xiao Yang is Gu Yang, but I’ll bring the real Yangyang to you!”
Gu Jin calmly retrieved her phone and, with a few adjustments, pulled up a clearer image of the face.
She stared at the unfamiliar yet vaguely familiar features, her phoenix eyes narrowing.
She couldn’t clearly recall Yangyang’s face from the orphanage, but seeing this one brought the memory into sharper focus. The face was the same—or maybe even the skin—but beneath it wasn’t her sister.
Back then, no one had known the outcome of the light cone experiment. Would it mean death or soul return?
But one thing was certain—this person was definitely connected to Utopia!
What do you think?
