Chapter 891: Tong Jiayin’s Arrest

Tong Jiayin thought this could be her chance to get things back on track.

She had heard that Gu Yang and Gu Jin had been mistakenly swapped when they were young. Gu Yang’s life should have been like Gu Jin’s past—growing up in a village.

As the wail of police sirens grew louder, Tong Jiayin’s heart sank. Seeing the police car pull up to the entrance, she felt a surge of guilt and panic.

“This is the Tong Family manor! You can’t just barge in!” she protested.

The security guards at the manor, loyal to the Tong family and Tong Rao, were not easily intimidated. They felt secure in their positions due to the family’s influence and power, believing they could withstand any challenge from the police.

But this time, the police were none other than Lin Ran and Chu Ying.

The Lin and Chu families were both part of the Eight Great Clans. Lin Ran was the sole heir of the Lin family and the brother of Xiao Yize, the heir of the top family, the Xiao family.

Naturally, Lin Ran had come to observe the situation, but it was Chu Ying who was spearheading the operation.

Chu Ying, with a steely expression, presented the arrest warrant. “Step aside. We’re here to arrest the suspect.”

Arrest warrants typically took time to issue, but Xiao Yize had swiftly intervened, urging Chu Ying’s superior to expedite the process. As soon as the mastermind was identified, they were authorized to act.

The security guards attempted to block their entry and demand clarification, but Lin Ran forcefully pushed through.

Although the guards were competent, Lin Ran, an S-rank Mutant, easily overpowered them. His martial prowess left them no chance.

Lin Ran, surveying the downed security guards with narrowed eyes, warned, “Don’t obstruct us from doing our job. Do you understand?”

“Eldest Miss Chu, please.”

Lin Ran glanced at Chu Ying with a slight smile.

Chu Ying, carrying a pair of handcuffs, made her way into the manor.

When Tong Jiayin saw Chu Ying approaching, her heart pounded. Desperate to escape, she realized it was futile and tried to maintain a facade of calm. “Sister Chu Ying, what brings you here?”

Without a word, Chu Ying snapped one end of the handcuffs onto Tong Jiayin’s wrist. The cold metal sent a chill through her, making her feel as though she had been frozen.

Though Chu Ying was a few years older, and they moved in the same social circles, they were not particularly close. Now, focused on her duty, Chu Ying did not engage in small talk. She said flatly, “Tong Jiayin, come with us and cooperate with the investigation.”

Tong Jiayin’s fear intensified. Spotting the butler coming out, she shouted, “Grandpa Butler, help me! I haven’t done anything wrong. I don’t know why Sister Chu Ying is arresting me.”

Just then, another car pulled up outside the Tong Family Manor.

Gu Yang and Feng Jue got out of the car.

Feng Jue had brought Gu Yang out for a walk to help her relax and purposely delayed Chu Ying and the others from arriving at the Tong family estate.

Upon seeing Gu Yang, Lin Ran greeted her warmly, “Sister Gu, what brings you here? Are you worried about our work?”

Feng Jue subtly positioned himself in front of Gu Yang, offering a friendly smile as he subtly separated himself from Lin Ran.

Tong Jiayin’s eyes widened in shock upon seeing Gu Yang. Her composure faltered, and she looked visibly distressed.

Gu Yang approached her with a smile. “Surprised to see that I’m okay?”

Tong Jiayin’s throat felt dry, and she was at a loss for words.

Feng Jue took Gu Yang’s hand, his cold gaze fixed on Tong Jiayin. “My sister is perfectly fine. It’s you who’s in trouble now.”

Tong Jiayin felt a shiver run down her spine.

“Young Master Lin,” Chu Ying called out sharply, “Why haven’t you taken the suspect into custody yet?”

Feng Jue glanced at Lin Ran with a smile, subtly reminding him, “My sister has seen enough of the commotion. Shouldn’t you be on your way? We wouldn’t want you to be an eyesore.”

For a moment, Lin Ran sensed an aura from Feng Jue that was reminiscent of Xiao Yize’s, making him instinctively feel inclined to comply.

As Tong Jiayin was led toward the police car, she desperately called out to the butler for help.

However, the butler remained unmoved. Instead, he turned to Gu Yang with a welcoming smile. “Miss Gu, the Family Head is expecting you upstairs.”
