Spring City, inside a mysterious lab.

Upon Dean McKenzie’s insistence, he eventually got the task of unsealing the Demon Box.

Ennis Hawkins brought Dean to the room where the Demon Box was stored.

When Dean was brought to the room with the Demon Box, seeing it again made him tremble a bit.

He felt some excitement, but more predominately, he felt nervousness.

Honestly speaking, despite his facade of absolute confidence in front of Anthony, he was actually scared.

Dean still remembered the sensation of almost losing his mind the first time he got hold of the Demon Box.

Nobody was more aware of the nefariousness this thing possessed than Dean. But he couldn’t let it show.

From the beginning of his journey, Anthony had been helping him almost since day one.

On Dean’s first day, Anthony saved him, brought him back to Spring City, placed him in a shelter, and helped him navigate through the toughest beginning stages of his journey.

It was Anthony, at a pivotal moment, who gave Dean a helping hand and enabled him to become a professional.

He doesn’t even need to mention what followed after he became a professional.

Anthony had been supporting him all the way.

Henceforth, even though Dean didn’t show much respect for Anthony outwardly, he was genuinely grateful inwardly.

Now that Anthony was facing difficulties, there was no way Dean would stand by and watch.

Even though the task was dangerous.

Even though Anthony never planned on asking for his help.

Dean still couldn’t just stand by and watch.

Ah, would it be appropriate to stand idly when he had received such benefits and favors yet the person is in trouble now?

Isn’t that absurd?

Isn’t it?

If he really left and something happened to Anthony, he would never achieve peace of mind for the rest of his life.

In one’s lifetime, isn’t the ultimate pursuit to find peace of mind?

So, even though Dean was afraid of death, if he deemed it necessary, no matter how dangerous, he would step forward.

He will go ahead, smiling and eagerly.

“Anthony, don’t look like you’re sending me to my death. Let me tell you, since I started out, I’ve never failed at wiping out any instances. I wouldn’t miss out on such a great opportunity. Maybe I might even get you an S-level result. Just watch!”

Inside the lab, Dean walked to the edge of the Demon Box, turned his head towards Anthony with a smirk.

Anthony said solemnly, “Cut the playful act. Although we have prepared that Substitute Doll for you, you will be teleported out of the instance as soon as you face danger.

Your safety has been greatly improved.

But there remains an uncertain danger, so be careful once you enter it, okay?”

“I know, I know! You’ve told me eight hundred times already. It’s like listening to an old lady nagging!”

Dean waved his hand dismissively, approached the Demon Box with an apathetic expression. He stretched out his hand, preparing to touch the Demon Box, hesitated for a second, then turned around and tosses two items to Anthony, “These two are for you!”

Ennis looked surprised, instinctively caught the two items thrown by Dean and realized they were two third-turn silver-level equipment pieces.

“What’s this for?”

Dean replied with a smile, “You hold onto these two items for me. If I come back alive, you give them back. If something were to happen to me, they are yours!”

Ennis then understood what was Dean’s intention.

Dean was worried that if something happened to him, this stuff would go to waste.

But also, he was worried that if he survived, it would turn out he just gave away his stuff for nothing.

He was certainly somewhat generous, but only mildly so.

Although Anthony tried to suppress it, he was both amused and touched.

Dean, without caring for Anthony’s reaction, put his hand on the Demon Box.

As Dean’s placed his hand on it, the system notification refreshed instantly.

“The person is correct, the power levels are correct. Do you wish to initiate the Trial of Unsealing the Demon Box?”

“Yes!”

“Unsealing the Demon Box Trial initiated!”

As the system notification refreshed, gray light shone around Dean’s body and he disappeared into the Demon Box in a blink.

Watching as Dean initiated the trial, Anthony solemnly stored away the items Dean had handed over.

“Max out the lab’s equipment power, keep a close eye on the Demon Box and Substitute Doll. Report any abnormalities immediately.”

“Yes!”

At Anthony’s command, the entire lab started its operation.

Simultaneously, Anthony also walked to the Demon Box, clenching a tattered silver-quality holy sword in his hand, staring intently at the Demon Box, prepared to cast all his power at any sign of abnormality.

No matter what it may cost, he was determined to save Dean.

Meanwhile, in Spring City, the mysterious person who created the Skeleton Cave lifted his head once more.

“The game begins? I didn’t expect that such a casual move would lead to such a good outcome. Well done, well done. Now I can give you an even bigger surprise!”

The mysterious person said, a delighted smile spread across his face as he once again pulled out a black crystal ball from his pocket, lightly crushing it in his hand. The pieces scattered across the floor.

Almost at the exact moment the crystal ball broke apart, an ornamental chain in Breanna Holt’s possession at the Mirror Stand in Spring City also cracked open.

“The final battle has begun?”

Looking at the broken pieces of the chain on the floor, a smile appeared on Breanna Holt’s face.

“Ennis Hawkins, it’s not my fault.

If you must blame someone, blame yourself for not being ambitious and for making such enemies. I’m not like you. I don’t want to spend my whole life in a small place like this. Staying here would cause me to decay, even agonizingly. Therefore, even if there’s no chance for me to leave, I’ll manufacture one myself. Let’s use you as a stepping stone on my journey back to Thorn Oak City!”

While speaking, Breanna Holt stood up, turned around and disappeared into the darkness.

Over at Dean’s end, as the familiar sensation of weightlessness ended, he found himself in an unexpected place.

White bones scattered all around, huge pits, along with an imposing Bone Throne.

Isn’t this the damn Land of Bone?

At first, Dean couldn’t believe it. But when Doggy Two appeared before him, eyes flickering with a clear and simple Pupil Fire, he came face to face with the undeniable reality: This was indeed the Land of Bone.

“Wait, wasn’t I supposed to unlock the Demon Box trial? How did I end up in the Land of Bone?”

As Dean was perplexed, the system notification refreshed.

“You have initiated the Trial of Unlocking the Demon Box!

This trial is a tower defense type survival trial, do your utmost to stay alive till the end!”

“The first wave of trials begins!”

“Boom!”

Almost at the exact moment that the system notifications refreshed, a roar spread through the Land of Bone.

Dean looked up and saw countless skeletons launching out of a fissure at the furthest ends of the Land of Bone, charging towards him.

The battle has begun!
