Chapter 109: Interlude I: Kara, Alex, and Hank
[DEO Headquarters, the day after the bomber incident]
Standing within a private room within the underground base of the DEO, Hank, Alex, and Kara all stood...arguing.
"Kara, how could you not tell me that she knows your secret identity?" Alex asked her sister in all but blood, confused and a little hurt that her sister wouldn't tell her that Solaris knew her secret identity.
"I-I just didn't think that mattered very much. I trust her with it, and I think that's enough to not cause issues over it. Plus, I know her secret identity too" Kara replied, frowning at the growing frown on her sisters face.
"You mean you know the secret identity of an unidentified vigilante, and you haven't thought to tell us who they are?" Hank asked, glaring slightly at Kara, who turned to him.
"She trusted me with her secret identity, as much as I trusted her with mine. I won't tell you who she is, so don't bother asking. And she's more than just a vigilante, she's a hero" Kara refuted.
"A hero who we know nothing about, besides that they can manipulate solar energy, an energy that has the potential to harm you, Kara" Alex said.
"She not only saved the lives of everyone in that airport, she also saved an innocent mans life. I told you about what she said, and what Ethan had said. I told you about Maxwell Lord and what he's doing, but you're ignoring that in favor of interrogating me about her secret identity" Kara said, her eyebrows furrowed and her frown growing by the minute.
"Kara, you don't understand. She's a thr-" "No I do understand. You two are afraid of her, just as the higher ups in the government is. Why? Because you know she can stop me and my cousin, and that terrifies you. It terrifies you that there's an ALIEN out there that is just as strong, if not stronger than me. And is one that won't be controlled or ordered around by the Government, or won't work with the DEO" Kara said, cutting her off with a shake of her head. "Not every alien is evil, Alex. She's not even from Fort Rozz, and has never been a criminal, so stop treating her like she is one" Kara finished, giving her sister a small, and very rare glare. "Danvers, we just want to take her in to talk to her, that's all" Hank said, causing Kara to scoff. "It starts like that, but then you start to ask to run tests. Then you start finding weapons that you can use to stop or kill her. Then you find out her background and real world I.D to use against as blackmail so she'll work with the Government. I might work with the DEO, Hank, but I'm not stupid. There's a reason why my cousin doesn't work with the Government" Kara replied, rolling her eyes at the mans obvious lie.
Alex frowned deeply at what Kara was saying, as it was...unlike Kara to lash out like this. It was even more unusual with how protective of this unknown alien she was.n/ô/vel/b//jn dot c//om
"Before you say anything, let me ask you a question. If neither of you knew who I was, just like Solaris, would you do the same thing to me? Would you use blackmail to get me to come to the DEO? Would you make weapons and find ways of stopping me?" Kara asked, looking at them both.
The two went silent at this, knowing that they couldn't answer that. The silence alone, however, was the confirmation Kara needed.
"Yeah, I thought so" Kara said with a small scoff.
"Until you two begin to understand that not all aliens are evil, I'll do everything in my power to keep Solaris's identity a secret" Kara said, looking the two down, before she walked off, annoyance filling her body at the way they were acting in regards to Talia.
The two watched in silence as she walked off, as they both realized they had some things they needed to think about, and even more things they needed to improve upon.
