152  Leaving for the Capital!

"It's good that we are leaving for the capital tomorrow," Ashen said. "The mercenaries shouldn't attack while you are inside the capital"

Feng Xue nodded in agreement, however, her gaze didn't carry the usual contempt it always had for Ashen.

Ashen noticed this change, however, didn't bother to comment about it.

Afterwards, they informed the Yan siblings about their plan to depart tomorrow.

"No brother Ashen, how can you leave this soon? Did you not like something that we did?" Yan Xiu asked innocently.

Ashen shook his head, replying sincerely: "It's not your fault. We are leaving because there is a grand event I have to attend in the capital."

"T-Then can't you take us with you?" Yan Pingtu asked in a hurried yet scared voice. "Take you with me? What about your parents?" Ashen asked jokingly.

"Some great parents they are... They escaped as soon as the attack happened without even bothering to see if we were okay!" Yan Li said annoyingly under his breath, clearly angry with his parents.

"I cannot take you with me. I'll be busy in the future and won't have time to take care of you. If I take you with me, you might even be in danger." Ashen explained in a helpless tone.

At this moment, Yan Pingtu yelled excitedly as if whatever reason Ashen gave wasn't an issue:

"That won't be a problem, Big Brawder! Sister Feng Xue already agreed to take care of us!"

"Oh?..." Ashen turned his gaze to Feng Xue with an expression asking if what the kid said was true.

Feng Xue nodded: "He told me about this, but... I never agreed. I clearly told him to talk to you directly about this."

Hearing this, Yan Pingtu's excited smile died down, replaced with a solemn expression.

"So you mean, you don't want them to go with us?" Ashen questioned.

"I never said that, I meant that the decision is up to you!" Feng Xue cleared her intentions, not wanting to be a villain in the children's eyes.

Ashen began to ponder on this:

Well, clearly there is no benefit in taking them along, but if Feng Xue had grown attached to them, they should atleast help her.

Contemplating that, he offered Feng Xue: "I'll take them along if you promise to take care of them, otherwise, we can always visit later."

From Feng Xue's perspective, taking them along was beneficial to her.

First, she didn't have anyone in the capital to talk to other than Ashen, they could atleast provide some companionship and make her day more joyful.

Second, they could do some minimal chores at the start and she could also impart her knowledge to them, getting disciples to teach.

If Ashen never allowed her to leave, she'd have to find something to do, and teaching these children could help pass the time while Ashen wasn't there.

Also, she had grown attached to them and there was no harm in taking them.

Hence, she readily agreed: "Yes, I promise!"

Ashen nodded in understanding, "Alright, if that is what you want then we will take them."

He then turned to the children and said: "You can say goodbye to your parents and this tribe. We'll leave tomorrow, be ready!"

The children nodded with shine in their eyes.

The next morning, Ashen and Feng Xue left the tribe, taking the children along with them, despite their parents' begging.

The parents apologized to the siblings, however, they really wanted to go with Ashen and Feng Xue. Also, they'd have much better opportunities in the capital while Yan Pingtu and Yan Xiu could escape death by participating in the warrior's trial.

This time they didn't travel by carriage and instead took an airship. The emperor's birthday was just three days away and they didn't want to be late.

After he revealed his identity to the tavern owner, the tavern owner obeyed his orders with full loyalty in an attempt to gain his favor.

Ashen had instructed the tavern owner to assist Ki Jotu's sons in placing a commission with the mercenary sect to assassinate Feng Xue.

As for when he reached the tribe, the fight had yet to begin. To his surprise, the mercenaries had decided to wait till sunset.

Then he just needed to wait for a perfect chance to rescue the children and Feng Xue, otherwise, how could he have arrived at the perfect time?
