Chapter 158: Ill-fated encounter
Chapter 158: Ill-fated encounter
Just when we were about to leave the corridor and head to the arena, I heard a strangely familiar voice.
"The sect will remember your contribution. I never knew you were in possession of such a great sword!"
In just a moment, two faces that I sadly met in my life before showed up at the corner not so far away. For all the ill-luck that must have accumulated in me as a recompensation for receiving the system, Baxhar and the former guest in our sect had to come right at this moment!
"Let's just leave."
Feeling the tug on my sleeve, I turned to Eve who was apparently as unhappy about this meeting as I was. We came here on a whim, so wasting our nice mood steeming from the profit we made on talking to useless trash was not the thing that we would want to do.
Turning around, I pulled Ham with us, only to be stopped after barely making two steps toward the entrance hall.
"Look who we have met! Won't you stop for a moment to greet your fiance?"
Recognising our duo, Baxhar just had to stop us! While we had the chance to just ignore him and go on our way, I wasn't someone who would run away from the confrontation!
"Leave them alone. Don't you see that they are embarrassed by coming out of a normal collection booth when we just came from the private one? Have some consistency and give them some space!"
While his voice was mulled to a point when the other guys was actually trying to prevent his voice from being heard, thanks to my sharp senses I was still able to pick it up. While I almost burst out laughing when this man tried to point out the reason for actions, I had to acknowledge his attempt to calm the storm before the dark clouds gathered.
"I'm sorry, senior, but this man is insisting on stealing my fiancee from my hands! In this situation, I have no other choice but ask Senior to redress my grievances!"
This little Ah, forget it. If he dares to act upon his words I will make sure to deal with him.
"You was right. Let's ignore those lowlifes and just go on our way."
It was my fault that we even stopped, so I had to fix it back. Every single moment more would cause Baxhar to spew even more nonsense, turning his pragmatical senior more and more against us. It's a wonder why he didn't bother setting up his propaganda before. I guess he didn't expect to meet us here!
"Hold it right there!"
Hearing the voice of the outsider to this conflict, I couldn't help but let the wrath take the seed within me. I was about to leave you fucking alone without making any troubles for you, yet you still want to push your luck? If not for the fact that unleashing my power inside this building would surely cause local security to fight me back, I would get rid of those people right now!
Okay, I wouldn't. But just imagining Bahxar's head rolling to the floor in a single slash my 'Utopia' was a really nice feeling!
"What the hell do you want?"
Turning around in one quick swoop, just by releasing a small bit of my aura I forced the outsider to stop right in his tracks. With my face full of annoyance, it was obvious that I was barely holding myself back.
"Is what my junior said true? If you stole his fiancee, then I will have no other choice but challenge you to a duel!"
Oh, you sweet summer child. Just from the fact that you were sent to our sect, or even came there by yourself showed that you weren't anyone important, even within your own sect. If you think you can bully me because you have a strong backer, you better learn what humility is!
"Not a single word coming from this trash mouth is true. If you want to understand why I'm saying that, try asking him where did the sword that you just auctioned come from."
With those words, I simply turned around and pulled both Ham and Eve with me. Even if this guy won't do as advised, just the implications of my request should make him wonder about this topic for long enough to let us leave this place.
Thankfully, my bet paid off. Before someone called for us, we managed to enter the entrance hall. With the crowd of the people moving in all directions, from rushing towards the collection booths, trying to enter the auctioning hall or leaving the place all together just like us, we managed to finally leave this building.
As soon as we got outside, I stood on the spot.
"Thanks for guiding us. Since we are going to the arena now, you don't need to accompany us anymore. But if you want to help me a bit and gain some favours, ask your master to investigate the origins of the sword that was the main items on today's auction. I can assure you, that those people did not own it."
With those words leaving Ham with his eyes wide open, I simply turned back to face the arena and went on my way. With Eve following right behind me, we got to the main entrance of this enormous building in just a few minutes of calm walk.
Entering through the main gate, we simply followed the main corridor before finally meeting some servant busy sweeping the floor.
"Excuse us, where should we head to rent a training room for a few hours?"
As the man raised his head, he stared at us exactly like someone looking at a bug crawling on the furniture, before hiding his expression and changing it to a kind smile.
"Sirs actually need to turn back. If you go left at the main gate, you will see a small, red building. Made out of bricks, it is distinctive enough for Sirs to not miss it. You can get more information there."
