Chapter 93: Visitor
Chapter 93: Visitor
The smile on Jim couldn't be hidden anymore as he looked at Jasper with praise. The other party had really improved. Not only his strength but also his control over his emotion.
In that moment of pause, Jim finally spoke, "But why not you still try it?"
"Try it?" Jasper frowned. He was now hesitating after knowing how rash his action was.
He knew how fatal he would suffer after using the skill: Possession. Even with the help of Nymph, his body would still go numb as he couldn't move nor feel his limbs anymore. If it wasn't treated immediately, it would go worse as he would certainly lose his limbs.
It was only because of his ignorance that he dared to try something risky like using possession with all his four Spirits. Thankfully, his big brother stopped him. He wouldn't undergo meaningless suffering with that.
But now, his big brother was telling him to do it? What was the problem with his big brother now? What was the point of stopping him before?
"Yes, try it. After all, mom is here. What's there to worry about?" If Jasper used the skill: Possession now, even if he failed and suffer in the end instead, they could just leave everything to their mom. Besides, Jim was also there. He could try as well if he could do something if things went worse.
The only reason why Jim stopped his younger brother a while ago was to see if the other party would let himself be driven by his emotion. But seeing that his younger brother had overcome his agitation to at least give Jim a considerable amount of damage, Jim was relatively satisfied.
No matter what, giving the skill: Possession a try with Jasper's four Spirits, wasn't that too bad. If things went generously, Jasper might succeed.
The chance of succeeding was slim though. After all, Jasper had just tried Possession with only his three Spirits not too long ago.
Still, it was worth giving it a try.
Jasper then shifted his gaze to his mother as he saw the other party nodding at him. After that, he shifted his gaze to his Spirits as he found them ready for the action at any moment.
Jasper nodded as he then turned his gaze to his big brother. "I will give it a try then."
He wasn't afraid of pain. After all, the training he was undergoing every day at the academy couldn't be any less than sufferings. Sitting on the same spot under the suppression of a beast with a single rank higher than him? Others might not even last a single minute. But he could do so for an hour or two.
Not only that, he still needed to complete a certain mission in the Academy every week. Such as killing a certain beast, gathering materials, clearing a dungeon, finding a precious item, etc. Every mission was considered dangerous and took a few days to complete. Or even worse, failed to complete in a week.
But only through this Jasper was growing stronger and stronger. And his growth rate could only be dreamt by an ordinary individual even if they tried their hardest...
Meanwhile, Chad was currently frowning. He was already happy upon realizing that the reason why Charley wasn't bothering her son to stop him from using the Possession was that they wanted to see if Jasper could overcome his pride. So upon succeeding, Chad was really happy for his nephew. And he really thought that the other party wouldn't use such a risky move anymore, giving him a sigh of relief.
But now, the other party was still trying that risky move? Why was Jim even told Jasper to do it? And why wasn't anyone stopping him? And it even appeared that everyone was supporting Jasper's action.
Yes, his elder sister Charley might be here for the rescue. But wasn't it a bit too much for a body of a kid to take or utilize such skill? Jasper might instead get a trauma that even Charley would have a hard time removing.
"Don't worry about it." Seeing Chad being like that, Charley could only inform the other party that it was fine. The tone of her voice wasn't tainted by any worries at all. And there was even some kind of joy blended in her voice.
But her joy seemed to not be any related to her son but on something else. Chad didn't notice it though.
"Do you think he will succeed?" Chad became delighted. Considering the other party's tone of voice, it must be some good news right?
But his expectation betrayed him mercilessly when Laude from the side replied in nonchalance, "No."
"N-no?" Chad's mouth twitched wildly as he forced his frown to not come out and let his smile surface on his face instead.
If he didn't know the other party, he might already smack him to death for belittling his nephew's capability.
But the other party was his nephew's grandfather. And not only that, he was one of the powerhouses of the Maharlika kingdom. His judgment was far beyond his own so he had nothing to say against it.
It was just that, he was saying it without any concern at all. As if he didn't care whether Jasper would succeed or not. What even worse was that his elder sister was actually being joyous about it.
Chad was unhappy. He already deemed Jasper as his own son. His concern for Jasper was no less than a concern of a father to their son.
But now, his nephew's real mother and grandfather weren't expecting him to succeed at all?! Was that even something to take happy with?
"Haha." Seeing the reaction of her younger brother, Charley could only chuckle softly. But she didn't add anything more as a response.
But instead, she shifted her gaze to a certain direction with her smile remaining on her lips.
Not only her, but even Laude was also now gazing as well to the direction of where Charley was looking at. His expression was still the same though. Calm and nonchalant. Making it hard for Chad to know what was the party was thinking.
Chad was really bewildered by their actions. He also shifted his gaze to where they were looking at only to find that nothing was wrong. He could only frown and wait for Charley's explanation instead.
Charley saw his younger brother being like that as she couldn't help but sigh deeply.
"We have a visitor." She could only inform the other party about what was going on. But well, she couldn't blame her younger brother as well for failing to know it on his own. After all, the one who had just come was someone who was at the level above her younger brother.
"Visitor? Who? How many?" Chad's expression turned grim. He could tell that what the other party meant by the term 'visitor' was actually 'intruder'!
But who would dare to do something like that here in this place? A bunch of bandits? A bunch of criminals? Or what?
But what made him worry was that he could tell that the one who was talking about by Charley wasn't an ordinary individual. Because he just failed to detect their presence at all. Even after focusing all his attention on his surroundings, he just couldn't find anything strange.
"I said visitor, so of course she was alone." Charley chuckled softly.
"She? Alone? Who is she?" Chad frowned. There were only a few women in the kingdom who were stronger than him. But he had no clue of whoever was it who was coming.
"It may shock you to death if you heard it," Charley responded leisurely with her chuckle.
"Just tell me." Chad was rather impatient.
"Elissa." Charley finally revealed.
"E-Elissa? You mean Elissa Cosa?" Chad shuddered from that revelation.
"Who else could it be?"
Upon learning who was that intruder, Chad could only gulp a mouthful of saliva as cold sweat was starting to appear on his forehead.
Who was Elissa?
She was the wife of the family head of the famous and strongest Assassin family, Cosa Family! Just like Charley, she was an Advance Ranker, the one who was borrowing powers from others. And her strength didn't pale in comparison to Charley.
But now, the other party was actually coming here? What was her purpose? Just who among them was her target? And who was that fool who hired this damned Assassin?
Chad became restless. He knew that even with his elder sister Charley and Laude Jabat being here, that Elissa could come and go as she pleased. If the other party's target was him or the children, there was a good chance that the other party would succeed.
However, Chad noticed something. He turned his gaze to his elder sister as she asked while frowning, "Then why are you happy?"
Indeed. If there was an incoming enemy, why was the other party being happy? Could it be that the target of that Assassin was not them?
"Haha, you worry too much." Charley tried to suppress her laugh only to fail. "Did you forget that Elissa is currently imprisoned in the Black Cave? So naturally, the one who is coming is just her clone."
