Chapter 96: Laughing At Each Other's Misfortune
Chapter 96: Laughing At Each Other's Misfortune
Meanwhile, somewhere into the woods...
"Do you really love to hide?"
Charley was now standing alone amidst the forest. Only tall grasses and tall trees were around together with some kind of wild animals and beasts. Of course, the blow of the wind was around as well, making the trees rustle and dance.
As for now, Charley was looking for Elissa. But she couldn't find where exactly the other party was hiding. Even with her Pulang Mata in her left eye, she still wasn't able to detect the exact location of the other party.
It seemed like even after being locked up in the Black Cave, Elissa could still create an incredible clone! Charley was surprised by that.
"Your ability has dulled. Is this the result of your stupidity?"
As Charley was looking around, she heard a soft chuckle from somewhere around. The voice was as if mocking her for being incompetent.
"Haha speaking of the devil, I wonder who is the one who has ended up being imprisoned just to save a useless son. Tsk, tsk too stupid!"
With the other party starting a trash talk, Charley wouldn't lose. She gave the other party a merciless mockery making Charley feel superior.
"Haha," The other party laughed but didn't say any more words. Instead, a figure had slowly appeared out of thin air.
A goddess! She must be a goddess of beauty! Her figure was perfect. A jade skin, two big peaks, gorgeous blue eyes, slim waist, long and dark blue hair, a pale dress befitting her, everything in her was attractive making anyone doubt if she really was an assassin.
"So who is your target this time?" Charley asked leisurely upon seeing the figure of the other party. She didn't hide her red eye on her left but still, there were no worries that could be found in her.
"You." Elissa responded with a smile.
"Oh? Did you hire yourself?" Charley smiled as well.
"You guessed it right."
"Haha." Charley chuckled for a moment before her expressions turned serious.
The other party became serious as well as they both readied themselves for a tough fight.
The trees around prepared themselves to be cut down since they couldn't run away anyway. Wild animals and beasts prepared themselves to be killed since even if they run away, the same fate would happen.
The wind then blew as silence followed. No matter what, this would be a fight enough to shake the whole kingdom for the news that it would bring.
Pfft.
"Hahaha," The two laughed loudly as they couldn't suppress it anymore. They were just having a fight to determine the winner of who would last longer with their serious face.
But it appeared that the duel was a draw!
"So, what now?" Charley asked the other party after calming her laugh a bit.
She knew that the other party didn't come here to have a fight or to cause any trouble. After all, the other party was not in the state to put up a fight.
Even if she could see that the other party could still create an incredible clone, Charley could tell that it was only limited to hiding presence. She could tell as well that Elissa used this clone to escape the watch of the other party's family.
"I said my target is you, so I will go straight to the point." Elissa responded. She said that her target was Charley but from what it appeared, it seemed like Charley was the target for someone to talk with.
"We both know that our sons are chosen by your damned greatest Hunters, and later at midnight, the damned curse will take effect." Elissa spoke. Her voice had an angry tone accompanied by a tone of blame.
"..." Charley stared at the other party in seriousness as she didn't say any words.
She knew this as well. And she felt heavy and burdened knowing that the fated time was coming nearer and nearer. She wanted to stop time but was that even possible?
Charley was forced to face it head-on as she could only try to become stronger emotionally.
"I cannot meet my son even for the last time and even with my clone. I am restricted by a curse. So, I am here to ask for a favor." Elissa stared at Charley intently. This time, both of them were really serious.
Charley understood the other party. Especially her feelings for her son. Both of them would suffer the same fate. The only different thing was that the other party would suffer worse than her. For even once in the last time, the other party was not allowed to meet her son unlike her who still had her son together with her.
Charley was saddened by that fact. If the other party asked for a favor, then why would she not agree with that? Even if they both forgot this favor in the end, it was not important now.
"What is it?" Charley asked.
"Nothing much, I just want you to help me deliver this to my son." Elissa responded as she threw out a pendant to Charley. "You can ask your son about that since they are going to meet soon anyway."
Charley stared at the pendant she caught. It was just simple with a round shape connected to a short chain. Part of the round pendant was forming a C-shape of the moon and its color was blue. And the remaining part was all white.
Charley could tell that there was a deep emotion engraved to the pendant as she held grasp onto it that as if afraid to lose it. "Don't worry, it's nothing much. Rest assured."
"Thank you." Elissa responded sincerely.
No matter what, it was a great favor for her. Elissa was just trying her hardest to become happy and to satisfy herself that she could at least share her burden with someone else. Even if they were in a completely different background now.
She didn't have anyone with her. She was all alone in the Black Cave. And she was the only one among their Cosa family who knew about the condition of her son for being chosen by one of the Four Greatest Hunters.
She was just grateful that long ago, she coincidentally learned that her old friend had also had the same fate as her. With that, her burden had lessened a bit.
But before that, before she learned everything about her son, and just after she gave birth to her sons, she really was happy. Not only she gave birth to a son, but actually twins.
But her happiness didn't last for too long when one day, a fragmented soul of one of the Four Greatest Hunters came into her. She was told that one of her sons was chosen by that fragment soul to become the unknown X-rank Hunter.
But the time would come that in exchange for power, a curse would be given. No, a curse would be activated for it was already been given the moment she gave birth to her son.
It was a curse that no mother would ever accept. It was the 'Curse of Lost Memories!'
She would forget everything about her beloved son and at the same time, her son would also forget their existence, everyone related to him.
Elissa really was lost upon knowing what would happen to her son. She had no one to share her burden with since her Cosa family cared not about any useless feelings.
She was forced to take the burden alone. And sometimes, she even felt like giving up as the day passed by. If it was possible, she wanted the time to not go on anymore.
Thankfully, the world didn't forsake her. When she was attempting to assassinate someone in her old friend's village, Biga Village, she met there her old friend, Charley who had just give birth to her first son not too long ago.
When they met, of course, an intense fight had occurred. After all, the other party was stopping her to assassinate someone. The fight lasted four couple of hours but there was no victor until both of them became exhausted.
After knowing that they couldn't fight anymore, they both laughed as they were both lying on the ground with their tattered clothes and bloodied body.
They were childhood friends but because they took a different path, they became separated. One became a Hunter while the other one became an Assassin. But if not for revenge, Elissa might also have become a Hunter together with her friend. She might not have married herself to the Cosa family and used their strength for her revenge.
But now, she and her friend were both lying on the ground in a weakened state. And Elissa could still feel that they were still friends. With that said, she took the opportunity to share her burdens with the other party.
But who would have thought that her friend Charley, also had suffered the same fate as her? Both of them really were shocked. But instead of sadness, they both laughed out loud at each other's misfortune.
