Chapter 173 A change.
Lucifer was playing chest with Dimitri and he already knew how and when he would win the game. When he was about to make a move, he stopped his hand and hung in the air. Dimitri was waiting, but then suddenly Lucifer dropped his own king to admit defeat.
"What's the matter?" Dimitri asked and realized Lucifer was staring at his phone.
"Looks like Mykel and the others have shown themselves again. They're going to have a press conference with the whole world," Lucifer answered as he gave his phone to Dimitri.
"The Rebirth Guild has finally opened their mouths. I wonder what it is all about and what are they going to say," Dimitri said as he read the article. "Looks like they really want to keep the surprise for later," Dimitri added and gave back Lucifer's phone.
Kseniya entered the room hurriedly and told them about the news that those two had just discussed. She was a bit late, but she got another information which was the time of the press conference. They both had no idea that the press conference was in just a few hours, and nobody knew about that yet.n/o/vel/b//in dot c//om
"Did one of our birds chirp?" Dimitri asked.
"Yes, they're still there and unnoticed," Kseniya answered as she nodded her head. "Another report came in and it seemed that the Rebirth Guild is preparing for something," Kseniya added with a worried expression.
Dimitri hummed and thought about it really hard.
"If they decided to go to war, what are you going to do, Dimitri?" Lucifer asked as he grabbed his cane and put it on his lap. "You guys poked a pack of wolves who knows where you live? Do you think you can stop them?" Lucifer looked at Dimitri without showing any expression.
"If that's really the case," Dimitri paused as he looked at his king piece on the chessboard. "I just have to ask the Eurasia Guild to help me since they have a personal grudge against Mykel," Dimitri continued and put the queen in front of the king.
"Do you think that will help at all? We don't know how strong they are now, and I don't think the Eurasia Guild would be enough to handle them," Lucifer warned as he stared at the chessboard.
"We have you, the Redshield Guild, and the Virtue Guild. I think that would be more than enough and end this once and for all," Dimitri answered and put the two knights next to the king.
"I don't mind being dragged into your problem, but I'm helping you to help humanity, not because of you," Lucifer said as he stood up and looked at Dimitri with a gentle smile. "I hope you understand that I'm not your personal guard or the Virtue Guild," Lucifer added.
"I know. Don't worry, I'm not going to ask you more than that," Dimitri answered as he nodded his head with understanding.
Lucifer walked out of the room and he remembered the position on the chessboard. He couldn't stop chuckling because of how stupid it was and knew how it would end up.
"He's really bad at playing chess," Lucifer talked to himself and then left the palace. Experience tales at empire
(In Mykel's office)
Mykel, Elena, Amaryllis, Aurea, and Lillith were staring at the four men and women sitting on the sofa with their eyes blindfolded. Their mouths were covered with tape as they were trying to free themselves from the rope that tied their hands and legs.
They had no idea who those people were, but then Amaryllis told them about the spies from Russia. Those people had been sending information to Dimitri and Kseniya, and those spies were starting to sniff too much.
"You want us to kill them or just break their minds?" Lillith asked as she looked at Mykel with her thumb pointed at those people.
"You can do whatever you want with them, just don't forget to send our regards to Dimitri," Mykel answered as he looked at the spies.
Aurea and Lillith looked at each other and then decided to bring those spies to the basement. Elena and Amaryllis pitied those spies because death by slow and small fire would be better than death by those two.
"The press is already here, they're waiting impatiently to hear what you have to say," Amaryllis said as she looked at Mykel. "They have been spreading bad rumors about us, and I'm curious why you let them do that," Amaryllis asked as she looked down the street.
"Bad publication is still publication, and won't it be fun to meet their expectations and just do what the bad rumors they spread?" Mykel asked back with a smile on his face. "So, those bad rumors they had spread, tell me more about them, and let's grant their wishes," Mykel continued.
"Those two would love to deal with those bad rumors. So why don't let them deal with those instead?" Elena suggested. "You can just focus on yourself for now, and I insist," Elena said as she rested her hand on the other side of Mykel's desk and stared at him with a serious expression.
Mykel chuckled and couldn't stop smiling, but then suddenly he took a photo of her in that position and sent it to Lyneth. It reminded him of when Lyneth was talking with to father, and the way she looked at him was similar to when Lyneth looked at her father.
"That's my daughter :)" Lyneth replied to the message.
"What? Why are you smiling like that?" Elena asked with her eyebrows furrowed.
"Nothing," Mykel shook his head. "Anyway, if you want me to just focus on myself, who's going to give the speech to the press?" Mykel asked with his eyebrows raised.
"I will become the new face of evil," Elena answered as she stood straight and put her hands in her trousers' pockets. "I want to share the evil deeds that you bear," Elena pointed out.
Mykel looked at her and nodded his head with understanding, and that was enough to make her happy. He understood what Beldathiel said about Elena as the happiest woman in the world because of how simple it was to make her happy.
"Can I stay by her side?" Amaryllis asked.
"You should ask her, and not me. She's the one in charge now," Mykel answered with a smile.
"I'm not as sharp as Mykel, so help me, Amy. I think with the two of us, it should be good enough even though we won't be at his level," Elena said as she looked at Amaryllis.
Mykel shook his head and scoffed, and then he watched the two of them leave the office to prepare for the speech. He then looked at his phone again and looked at the photo he took earlier because it made him proud and happy.
The time had finally come, and the press had waited outside the guild headquarters. Everyone was waiting for Mykel, but the ones who came out were Elena and Amaryllis. They were waiting for Mykel, but the one who stood on the podium was Elena and everyone immediately pointed the cameras at her.
"I stand here on behalf of the Rebirth Guild, and the reason why we put a press conference is that we haven't given our piece about the declaration of war that the world has decided," Elena said as she looked at the press in front of her. "Even though they said they have made the Rebirth Guild an enemy of the world, looks like they haven't taken action about it at all," Elena added.
Everyone furrowed their eyebrows with confused looks on their faces.
"It looks like all the nations and the guilds who signed this declaration are nothing but talk. That's why we the Rebirth Guild with the opportunity that they have given, we will be the ones who take it seriously," Elena said as she put her hands on both edges of the podium. "If you're watching this, we will give you two options. The first one is for you to save the world by going into the portal and sending those demons away from Earth. The second one is for you to protect the world by not going into the portal because we will destroy everything that survived and the places that you have protected," Elena warned as she stared at the camera.
"Do you think you're on top of the world right now? That will pass. Do you think you're the hero of this world? That will also pass. Lastly, do you think the peace that you have created will last forever? That will pass as well," Elena said. "We will inflict fear and anxiety on you and your country by not knowing when the attack will come. Pray to the Gods you believe in because we are coming," Elena smirked and then went back inside the building.
Everyone around the world watched the press conference and none of them could speak after hearing that. They were all gulping in anxiety because they knew how heartless the Rebirth Guild had shown themselves, and now they were coming for them.
"I have been waiting, Mykel Alester, and I can't wait to see your final act," Lucifer said with a smirk as he stared at the TV.
What do you think?
